Fries (top) and cheese shake fries (bottom)

In my opinion, you can't go wrong with Chicko Chicken. My favourite flavours are yangyeom and snow cheese. This time around I got boneless yangyeom and soy garlic with my partner. We also got regular and snow cheese fries. The yangyeom at Chicko Chicken is my favourite flavour of any Korean chicken, and they're the only ones who do it right. I haven't liked it anywhere else. Soy garlic is delicious as well and very flavourful. The chicken came out fresh, piping hot, tender for my soft mouth, and juicy. It's always also perfectly crisp, even hours after frying when you have leftovers. The fries were just as fresh. The cheese for the shake shake fries come in a separate container so you can shake it yourself. I love the sweet cheese powder over the fries--it's so addicting. They also gave us ketchup for the regular fries. One con of Chicko is you have to buy the pickled daikon. Most places give it complementary with a chicken order. Service is to-order so it takes a while, but worth the wait! There's only two tables inside and it is essentially self-serve.

I ordered Chicko Combo for a take out few days ago. Everyone knows how inflation is disastrous these days. Food was so disappointing. I was deceived by the great presentation until there were 2 pieces of skin in my box. The rest were mostly fries with less meat. I felt ridiculed that staff included chicken skin in my food. I can't express anymore words aside from this. Good thing I've got free radish from the loyalty point at least.

Chicko Chicken is expanding very quickly across metro vancouver and it is a good thing. Now there is one nearer me, rather than having to go to Edmonds area. Maybe there is some teething problem, being newly opened. I placed my order and was told it would take about 20 minutes as everything is made to order. No problem. I went to other shops in the plaza. I had the half order of the yang yeom fried chicken. It was supposed to come with pickled radish but it was not available. I was told to choose any sauce. I had the cheese. That was pretty tasty. The cheese powder was slightly sweet. I dipped fries in it and it was so good. The chicken itself was so-so. It was not very crispy which was disappointing. The meat was tender though. The sauce like any other Korean fried chicken places. Pro-tip: order online or in advance as it would take 20 minutes to be ready.

I've ordered from chicko several times, easily one of the best quality Korean fried chicken places near me. Boneless option is great - each piece is huge, batter is crispy and does not get soggy, cheese snow flavour has a perfect 'bliss level' aka, perfect balance of salty and sweet cheesy flavour. Never had a problem until last night when we ordered through Uber eats. Every time we ordered in the past there would be at least 1 order of pickled daikon included, we thought it was complimentary. Maybe this has changed, but we were slightly disappointed to find that it was not included in our order this time. Anyway, the chicken is still ridiculously good, would recommend to make / buy your favourite side dishes and enjoy with Soju and beer :)

I kinda ate some....I was hungry. Half and half, yangyeum and soy garlic.

So! They just opened a Chicko Chicken (uh oh!) just around the corner from my place. It is in the Old Orchard Mall. I passed by it the other day going to Shoppers. I think it's been open for about a month now. The shop is quite small and I think there is 2 tables inside. There is lots of parking in the mall. I've become a fan of their other location on Edmonds. I ordered my usual, half and half boneless (yangyeum & soy garlic). I ordered online and they have a points system. Dunno how it works, probably the same as most places, the more you buy the more points you get. So apparently I got enough points for some free fries....cool! The fries were pretty good, nice and crispy, maybe a touch more salt would've been perfect. The chicken was ok, to be honest it was a bit dry and didn't really have enough sauce to coat it. Maybe cuz they are still new are experiencing some growing pains. The Edmonds location is definitely better. But like I said maybe they just have to get out the kinks. The guy who worked here was pretty nice. Will have to try again to see how they are doing in a couple of months. We will see............

I was debating between this and AYCE $19.95 deal. I got lunch combo $12.99 since I might overeat from AYCE. I asked the server for lunch combo and radish pickles. And choose cheese sprinkles with fries. Meat was tender and juicy. Batter was light, just the way it should be. Cheese sprinkle wasn't my usual go to so the flavour was okay. Kids might like it. Not spicy just cheesy and little sweet. Fries were perfect like ones from Costco food court. I'll never order this flavour and won't recommend this at all. The taste reminds me of Cheetos. Loved the quality and portions for the price. I can never find this price at Chicko and any other Korean fried chicken places. Server was fantastic, she apologized about forgetting to bring radish. It's a small restaurant so takeout is recommended! Great place to watch World Cup!

We're…read morealso typically in the area looking for a quick, cheap meal from the food court, and this spot definitely isn't food court pricing. But on a Saturday ~12pm, there isn't a line outside the door so we finally gave it a try and we were glad we did. We ordered the double decker noodles, garlic chicken noodles and galbi. The galbi were fall off the bones tender and packed with flavor. Double decker noodle was HUGE, and boldly flavored, and have a kick but not too spicy. The garlic chicken noodle was flavorful, creamy, and comforting. The only down side is the restuarant is a bit tight, you feel very close to the next table. But the food makes up for it.

We arrived around 6:20pm and asked for a table for 4. There are no reservations but we were the first in line, with a line up quickly forming behind us. We waited for around 10 minutes and got seated. The tables are quite squished together and the chairs is multifunctional with big storage space underneath though are hard to move as they are heavy. We ordered the Galbi combo for 3 that includes galbi, kimchi chewy (Korean kimchi pancake), and choice of 3 noodles. We picked the Chicky Chicky ginseng, Double Decker, and Moosroom. We were provided with sharing bowls, plates, and extra tongs to share all the foods and given two separate sets of sauces, kimchi, and pickled radish to share. It was a bit strange to have paper cups, that become a bit flimsy but they didn't leak during our meal. Food came pretty quickly with the kimchi chewy (kimchi pancake) arriving first, galbi, and then the noodles. The kimchi pancake has decent flavour but was pretty mushy with no crispness to it, which was a bit disappointing. It wasn't really chewy either so out if all the items we tried, this one definitely has the most room for improvement. However, the galbi was AMAZING, meaty, tender, and beautifully flavored. This was definitely the highlight of the meal and we agreed we could all eat more. The Chicky Chicky ginseng noodle came first and it was really nice! The handmade noodles had a nice bouncy texture and chew to them and the broth was comforting and tasty. There were tons of chicken pieces that were tender and juicy - this was my favourite noodle dish. Next, the Mooshroom noodles. Again, great noodles and there were tons of mushrooms and had some spicy kick to the broth. We found the broth between the Mooshroom and Double Decker to taste similar except the Double Decker was slightly more spicy. Double Decker had a generous tender pork pieces (two) falling off the bones and noodles were great but like stated, broth tasted pretty similar to the Moosroom one. Overall, solid meal but they don't take cash, reservations, or takeout orders. Be prepared to wait for a table but service is pretty quick. For $110 for four people, we left full, satisfied, and with leftovers.
