I can't get enough of this place! I wish there was another location either by my work or by my house. If I had to eat this every day for the rest of my life, I'd be a happy girl. I'll go along with every other review and state this is a Middle Eastern version of Chipotle. You can choose either make your own pita or bowl. The pita is a thin pita bread cut in the middle and they stuff it with your choice of protein, sauce(s) & veggies. The bowl beginner is either rice or cracked wheat. I get the cracked wheat every time, it's DELICIOUS! Protein options: Chicken shawarma, steak shawarma, falafel, beef kebob, or chicken cream chop. It really doesn't matter what protein you choose, all of them are tender, juicy and yummy. I have never had a dry, tasteless meal here. Sauces are hot sauce, ranch, tahini & garlic sauce. You can also add hommous - traditional, roasted red pepper, or cilantro jalapeno. The cilantro jalapeno hommous is so delicious, it's the only one I've ever had at Chickpea Kitchen because it's that good. On to veggies - choose your own, no limit. This includes chopped parsley which you can never have enough parsley! You can also get sides of pita & hommous, and they have some soup & salad options. Really this is one of the best fast casual restaurants in the area, offering healthy and flavorful options. We need more fast casual restaurants like this in Metro Detroit! read more

At the recommendation of a fellow yelp friend I was in the area and stopped in the Chickepea Kitchen. I must say what a good decision that was. I'm shocked that at 1:30pm on a Saturday afternoon I was the only person in this little gem. As others have described it is basically the Chipotle of Mediterranean food. I tried the chicken shawarma bowl with the red pepper hummus, tahini, cracked wheat and lots of veggies. I was excited to try the pickled turnips as a topping and let me tell you, they are very tasty. For $6.00 my shawarma bowl is easily two meals and is beyond delicious and rather healthy too. What a nice fresh alternative. I've driven by this place countless times, I have know idea why I haven't stopped in. Nice decor and very clean. I was really impressed for my first time. We ordered an chicken pita and chicken salad. They had a decent amount of topping, all looking very fresh. I was particularly excited with 3 different humus options, old school, cilantro and red bell pepper. They offered little sample spoons like at 31 Flavors, nice touch. I was able to do half cilantro and half red pepper on my pita and it was yummy. My next visit is going to be sooner than later. read more

They have a wide variety, and some of the proteins are made fresh, like the falalel & chicken cream chops, making the food extra yummy. Clean place, decent price, nice staff. Again, I ordered a pita sandwich; Again, I requested LIGHT on the Fattoush sauce and AGAIN it soaked through the pita wrap, the paper it was wrapped in and fell apart all over my shirt, car seat (can't get it out of an ivory fabric!) so I will NEVER AGAIN order any food from here. I ordered this time online and specifically informed them I wanted LIGHT sauce as it soaks through the sandwich. I have heard such a ruckus over Chickpea Kitchen from Ron and many other lovely yelper's we decided we check out the place after our hiatus from med. cuisine. We were all starving, so our first meal was going to be from CK and I was hoping it wouldn't disappoint. After getting there I noticed it is located by a coney, and the place didn't really stand out but the parking is fairly ok. After walking in the place is kind of odd, spacious, reminded me of a college cafeteria, and there could possibly be more tables, chairs? Idon't know something seemed missing, however they have everything. Bottled and canned drinks, the fountain drinks, sauces, utensils, napkins, cups by the register, but still... the place was clean the workers were friendly and greeted us upon entrance. You have the choice of bowl or pita, pita means you'll get the wrap. This place is designed like a chipotle, subway and other quick eats. It seems to be popular nowadays. A bowl is about $8 and the pita wrap is $6. None of us got a combo, but my son and hubby got the chicken pita wrap, I got the steak bowl while my daughter got the steak pita. They have different types of hummus, and they also have four types of sauces and I usually always get garlic sauce for that fresh breath, joking. Also got the red sauce which was supposed to be hot but wasn't it was fragrant and very yummy though. This place serves up quick middle eastern inspired food that is quite tasty and cheap as well! Super fast, even during lunch rush. Lines definitely do not phase them! Family-owned and family-ran, and feels like it too! Such friendly staff! They have vegan options and their vegan options are labeled on their menu! Their menu also has most of the ingredients that are used, and if it doesn't, they are super open about what they use in everything! So happy to say that their garlic sauce is vegan because most middle eastern places use egg-whites or yogurt in their garlic sauce. Their vegan options that are fried, such as falafel and fries, are also fried in a separate oil than the oil they use to fry non-vegan items in. So falafel and fries are one hundred percent vegan! They even have some of oil-free options like their lentil and chickpea soup! (I'm sure there are more, that's all I remembered tho). I always look forward to how vegan friendly their menu and options are, how many veggies they have to offer, and the flavors that fill the chickpea kitchen to the flavors that satisfy my palette. read more

Found this great Mediterranean spot in Sterling Heights called "The Chickpea Kitchen, " that's basically a Mediterranean version of Chipotle or Subway. The food and selection was fantastic. Very fresh ingredients, and you can tell most of it was cooked in house. I especially loved the Steak Shawarma, which they have a few rotating cuts of (I had Tri-Tip the night I went). I also had a fantastic Jalapeno-Cilantro Hummus that really made my bowl something great. Also... If you're a fan of Lentil Soup, make sure you get it here. So damn good. My my my all I can say is chipotle who lol. This was my first time coming here and I must say I'm addicted. I would go everyday if I could. So the staff is so friendly and helpful and since it was my first time they made sure to let me sample anything I was curious about so I would know what to get when I placed my order. I ended up getting a bowl with the steamed wheat crumbles or something like that lol. Half chicken half steak shawarma. And I added a variety of other things. My favorite two things were the spicy red sauce and the cilantro hummus. The food was amazing is all I can really say. So more than likely I will be going here Monday for lunch.
