New owner has shown an immediate drop in quality from accuracy of the order, freshness of the meat at different times, and use of brown meat in the soup which used to be white. This is still my favorite spot in Encinitas but I have been going here since it opened in 1986 as a kid and I do not like seeing so many cost saving measures. Regrets! I have one regret. That we did not visit here sooner! We lived around the corner for three years. We kept telling each other that we would try it. We moved out. A con, visiting a new restaurant without the other is akin to cheating. So! I had a plan. I ordered their lunch special. $7 for a huge piece of chicken and two generous sides. I do not know any food place in North County that can beat this value. I ordered the chicken soup to-go for my wife as payment for my sins. I also ordered a 24-ounce diet soda. Tax and tip the meal was only $15! Yes, I am serious! I made sure to check my credit card statement the following day to confirm. The place is basically a homemade El Pollo Loco.
