Not sure if that was the best way or not. The parking lot is not huge, and you can't park in the designated camping area spots. There are plenty of picnic tables, probably more than parking spaces. There are at least 20 tables there. There are a few trails to choose from. Very close the parking and campsites is a short 1/4 hike (or shorter) to the dinosaur prints. There is a hike in the other direction to the mini waterfall and pond. Probably about a mile or a little over a mile (1direction). We also found an old almost petrified bristlecone tree (that was neat). We got lucky with the weather for Dec, it was probably about 60 degrees and very nice. I saw that in the summer it can be over 110 so I am glad that we got the nice weather. The red /orange scenery is spectacular and representative of the area, like it is at zion, bryce, snow canyon, pioneer park, etc. We enjoyed a picnic lunch there, and we had a blue bird, a scrub jay, come join us and beg for food. Check out my photos.

The trailhead is located at the campground, which is about 5 miles down the paved road. GPS Coordinates: 37.224794, -113.406300 It is $5 to park your car here in the parking lot, follow directions to the trail. It is a beautiful and easy hike - until the very end. it meanders along a path - then at the end you need to climb some pretty big rocks to see the payoff of the beautiful canyon. We loved this hike. (but were thrown off by the Yelp directions that sent us in an alternate direction.

Eric the owner was so sweet and showed us around the property. My friend and I had a super relaxing day down by the warm spring. It's a large property with lots of real grass. Beforehand, you might want to do some research and watch current videos on IG, TikTok, or YouTube so you know what to expect. We finally made it here on SATURDAY, JUNE 6TH to escape the Vegas heat. It's an hour drive from Las Vegas, so we left at 8:15 am. We arrived at 9:15 am to a line of other cars thinking the same thing...we were already about 20 cars deep. The park opens at 10am to 6pm and it's $30/person for adults. There are about 50 parking spots inside that the workers will direct you where to park, and there are complimentary wagons to load up your belongings to bring to your picnic spot. Top priority for everyone is to cool off in the 100-foot 80 degree river, and snag a great picnic spot. Most prime picnic spots are along the river and come covered and fully equipped with a grill, tablle, chairs, and a garbage can. Restrooms are clean, and there's also a shower as well. For us, swim time in the river was OUR priority, so we packed lightly(cooler, chairs, towels, bluetooth speaker, and water flasks. We brought snacks, ice cream, and poke for lunch. Went for our first swim at about 10:30am Had a Poke Bowl lunch at about 11:15am while lots of people were still slaving away in the heat over a hot grill trying to get lunch cooked for their families. Went for a second swim at Noon. Not too many people swimming as lots of people were still eating. By the time 1-1:30pm rolled around, the river was a madhouse with all kinds of music blasting, and people just having a great time. We decided to call it a day and packed up our belongings then headed back to Vegas. A fun day was had, and yes, we plan to return. Now you know before you go!

We had intentions of going to…read morea state park in Utah, but it was a Friday night (mid-May, 2024) and we hadn't made reservations, and they were full. So, I went to Recreation.gov and found that this campground had spaces available. It was 25 miles away, but it was on the way to our next destination. The campground is located in the Virgin River National Recreation Area, managed by the BLM. It was also very inexpensive -- $12 with a National Parks Senior Lifetime Pass ($16 without) for a non-electric site. We found the campground easily -- very close off the interstate but still surprisingly quiet. Finding our campsite though was another story! We were site 69 & the loops seemed to end at 68. We only found it after enlisting the help of a maintenance worker and a map in the restroom. The campground is in a lovely location, with many sites having views of the canyons or the Virgin River. Handicapped sites also have covers over their picnic tables to protect opponents from the Arizona desert sun. Restrooms have modern toilets and running water. The campground also has a few easy (and some harder) hiking trails -- including one down to the river where people were swimming and cooling off. None that we encountered were shaded so make sure you bring lots of water.

This place is my little sanctuary. The water is BEAUTIFUL and it's only an hour and 40ish drive to here from vegas. I could stay in the little pool and watch the waterfall and river for days. This is also a really beautiful spot to take photos too. I'm so so so happy that I had the opportunity to see the beauty of this place. Fun fact, there's the cutest little air bnb on a farm for 2 that's only 5 minutes away from little Jamaica. It's called the purple house and it's great place to stay in if you want to hang out at the river for more than one day! This place honestly leaves me speechless. I luckily didn't experience any trash really. This really is my favorite hidden gem it's such a beautiful place to relax at. THE WAY THERE: It can get really confusing to get down to the water hole! There's a gate thing and once you go past that you turn right and eventually you should pass through a tall grass patch. The rocks near the water are very slippery, so make sure you're being careful or wearing water shoes with some traction. There's also a rope tied to the rock to help you get down!
