When I lived and worked in Palatine I used to get Chiggy's fairly often and liked the food. I no longer live near Chiggy's but stopped in for carry out lunch and really enjoyed the food. Two hot dogs to go with everything. Good tomatoes, pickles, sport peppers, etc for a classic Chicago 'drag it through the garden' dog. They have a special price for two dogs and that's exactly what I wanted! I'm kind of through paying big bucks for a basic lunch item like a hot dog! Two things I learned from my first experience here . . . Number one was that they will only allow one "special" per order (even though we could have separated the two orders). We wanted a BOGO chicken sandwich "Special" and only the JR. Gyro that was posted on their window but was told we couldn't do that even though there was nothing indicating this jr. gyro was a "SPECIAL "and we didn't want to be nitpicky. And two . . . water was free, but you are going to be charged .20 for each cup. An absolute insult . . . we would have taken one cup and 4 straws to the table but once again didn't want to be nitpicky. I gave this establishment another try tonight while my husband was out of town, he's not a fan. This time instead dry bits of gyro meat it was moist but flavorless. For me, it's one of those places I've driven by a thousand times and not stopped in, so today I made a point of making it my destination, and I'm happy I did. With a very extensive menu that includes something for every taste in casual dining, and a spacious dine-in area decorated with local sports memorabilia, Chiggy's cranks out quality food, and fast. I went with the quarter-pound cheeseburger (they also offer half a pound), for $6.69, and added onion rings for another $3.99. The charburger had the requisite nice crust while maintaining juiciness and great beef flavor. Super melty cheese in adequate quantity. Oversized, bakery-style bun, soft to the bite, but substantial enough to hold any toppings you care to add. For me, almost always the same, just mustard, pickle, and raw onion. They were generous with all of them. Onion rings come with a mildly seasoned batter coasting, cooked to order, hot and fresh. I'll be back. Like I said above, they have a menu to please most any appetite. Burgers, dogs, gyros, chicken, ribs, hot and cold sandwiches, salads, fish, shrimp, family-sized chicken dinners, ice cream. First time here last week while staying in Palatine. It was just ok. Order at the front counter and wait for your number to get called. We ate in. Lots of seating inside. Tables were clean. We split the gyro platter. Meat, small salad, 1 pita, 2 large onion slices, and 2 large slices of tomato. Salad was good. Not very big but ok to share especially since the amount of meat we got was HUGE. Definitely enough for 2. And then some. 1 pita was not enough and we could have asked for another one but we just ate the meat and veggies like steak and potatoes. This meal was ok but nothing special. I have had better gyros here in the Detroit area. It is a go to place in Palatine at least to try. read more

For the friendliness of the staff alone, I'd totally come back again. It's crazy how the service can either make or break your first impression of a place. It definitely made it for me. Being there just to pick up my called-in order made me have a smile on my face as the workers here greeted me and talked to me in such a friendly way. They even said bye to me by name (it was my first time here) as I was walking out as they were taking orders from other people. And onto the food. I ordered a gyro sandwich and fried shrimp with fries. The gyros were good, exactly what I expected, with meat overflowing out of the pita. The fried shrimp did not include a tail on it (so it looked smaller than I expected), but it was crispy on the outside and the shrimp itself was crispy and tasted fresh. This was our first time there and we arrived at lunch time. There's lots of indoor seating. You place your order at a counter as you enter, the staff were friendly and helpful. We got the gyro combo and the two Chicago dogs special. The gyro combo was a little bit more pricey than where I went to before, $17.00 and the 2 hotdogs were $7.00. With that being said the quality of gyro meat was very good. It was not dryer out , had very good flavor and they didn't skimp on the sauce, onions and tomatoes! I will come back for it again for sure. The hotdogs , just like the gyro was not skimpy on the toppings. They serve the good quality Vienna style dogs. The fries are the good crinkle kind. Came here this weekend to pick up our usual order - chicken gyro sandwiches. When we got there someone apparently had taken our order so had to wait for our order to be ready. That wasn't too bad. However noticed something else. The prices have gone up and quantity of the meat has gone down. Usually our chicken gyros has plenty of meat. This time it was half the quantity. I let it go thinking maybe it was just that evening. Then I heard from other family members who also got the same this weekend and saw the difference too. Fine we can accept that because of Covid the prices have gone up. Understand that restaurants are hurting but the quantity should remain the same if the price has gone up. Friday night, went to workout already close to 7PM, decided we will order from Sam at Chiggy's. Called up and who do I get, Sam of course! Asked if we could order 4 Gyros Plates to Go of course ready in 15-20 minutes. Off we went, prior to getting there, My Bride decided if we can add more to our order? I went in and asked Sam if that would be an issue. Of Course not! As he put it, " if you want to spend more money at his place, who is he to say no!" Funny Guy! We had a memorial last weekend for my dad and asked Chiggy's to cater the event. Let me just say that the food was incredible! We had beef sandwiches, chicken and rice. Everyone raved about the food and kept asking where we catered from. In addition to having delicious food, the service you get at Chiggy's is always top notch. Sam (the owner) always makes sure that you have your food on time and ensures there are no issues with your order. You can tell he really cares about his customers. In my first visit since their limited reopening last summer, there have been some unfortunate changes. Prices have increased quite substantially - a Gyro Sandwich, small fries and a small drink will now set you back about $14 after the super high Palatine restaurant sales tax. The gyro is perfectly ok, but the sauce is bland, almost flavorless. Fries are unsalted generic frozen types. Drink choices are limited, with no form of iced tea available at all. Lots of other menu choices, of course, including a salad that goes for $11.50! read more

Asked for ranch when I was leaving. Said it is .80 and I said seriously after paying so much for so little. So I paid it and the ranch isn't even real ranch that they made. This place has such bad customer service! I placed an order over $30 through DoorDash and forgot to ask for extra sauce. I called the restaurant, explaining this and asked if they could add extra tzatziki to my order. They refused because they wouldn't be able to up-charge me $.80 since I ordered through DD. Wow!!!!! $.80!?!?!? So now I will NEVER again spend money here, because being able to charge me $.80 was more important to this establishment than providing outstanding customer service to ensure customer satisfaction. Any other restaurant would have said "No problem! Don't worry about it...we'll add it to your order :-)" There were TWO people at the restaurant discussing why I couldn't get my extra sauce. Not one of them thought to just be nice and give me a tiny cup of sauce! I hope the $.80 was worth losing a customer, money, and receiving a bad review. read more
