Two pastor tacos and one asada.
    Angie G.

After getting inedible barbecue from Rock Store, I was fortunate enough to see this food truck roll up to the bar I was at. I got an asada and a pastor taco. These are traditional Mexico tacos that you can eat in a bite or two. They were pretty good, and you really can't beat the price ($2 each). The service was fast, and the food truck looked thankfully clean (sometimes they're not the best...). I was also pleased to see that they accepted credit cards. Obviously, with a food truck, you're not getting tons of ambiance, but this made for a decent lunch while throwing back a few beers at our local.

Found these guys over at Camp North End this past Friday night. My party ordered steak tacos, carnitas tacos, al pastor tacos , chorizo tacos, and a gordita with asada. These were pretty authentic tacos on corn tortillas with just some onion, cilantro and a sprinkle of cheese. They were served with a lime wedge and pickled vegetables. Very good, very solid tacos. The customer service was top notch and all that food, which was enough for 3 people, was only $28! As some one who tries to eat paleo, even though the tacos did have some cheese, this food truck was a great option. You don't feel like you have to miss out on the food truck foods and everything settled really well. They had other options such as burritos and quesadillas but we didn't sample those. Would definitely recommend trying them if you see them around.

I love this taco truck. I'm a California native and it's been so hard to find authentic Mexican food since moving to the Charlotte area. Chilaka Taco Lab is my favorite yet. The service is fast and friendly, at $2 a taco the pricing is reasonable, and the sanitation rating is 96.5 as of today! But the food... flavorful, delicious, mouthwatering. The hot sauce will knock your socks off. Now that I know where they park we will be sure to be back. I should add - the address on Yelp is incorrect. They're parked at 11223 Blair Road in Mint Hill, M-F, 9-3. You can also find them at local events and breweries on the weekends. They aren't great at social media, but be patient - it's so worth it!

Seeing this truck made me immediately want legit street tacos so I went with the fish tacos. This was my first time with this particular food truck and I was not disappointed. It took a bit of time but was well worth it and was piping hot. Extremely fresh tasting. The green sauce was delicious and really had a kick. The real heat came when I chomped into the pepper that came with it. It wasn't long before I had hot happy tears.

Chilaka Tacolab came to a music festival I ran. They showed up two hours early and were able to serve the bands before guests started arriving. The food was amazing and affordable. Everyone I spoke to at the event raved about it as well. Highly recommend for any event.

My husband really enjoyed his burrito so I tried that my next time. I've been ordering their California Burrito ever since! It's not a saucy burrito so I have to ask for the Jalapeno Cilantro sauce. It reminds me of a sauce I used to get at my favorite taco truck in California (Leo's Taco Truck), Get it & Thank me later! I always get my order to go but there is seating outside.

They also serve burritos, which looked really good. I asked the staff what they recommended, and I ended up getting the al pastor taco and one of the beef tacos. I can't remember the name of the beef taco, but both were delicious. They definitely do not skimp on the onions and cilantro, so if you like fresh toppings, you'll be happy. My beef taco was just a little tough, but it was still full of flavor and very enjoyable. The ordering process is simple. You order at the front, they give you a number, and then they call you when your food is ready. There are a few tables outside and small tables inside near the kitchen. During lunch, the other side of the restaurant was closed, but I could see the hidden speakeasy style dining area. It looked really cute, and I definitely want to check it out on my next visit. The only thing to keep in mind is the parking. I went during lunchtime, and the parking lot was packed. I had to drive around a few times before I found a spot, but it was worth it. Overall, I really enjoyed El Malo. The tacos were fresh, flavorful, and exactly what I was looking for. I can definitely see this becoming my go to spot whenever I'm craving a quick taco. I'll definitely be back. :::writing If you're posting this on Yelp, I'd probably give it a 4.5 or 5 star vibe based on what you described.

I originally was going to place the order online, but they're online option said it was unavailable so I went inside and sat down at the bar. The service was OK though it seemed most people did not speak English, which is fine. It just made it kind of harder to communicate. That said the food was decent but the reason why I gave two stars was because I feel very misled on pricing. The menu showed Que Siberia tacos three for $12. Steak/Asada tacos for three dollars which brings my total to 15+ the two drinks. I thought she said it was $20.80 so I paid it with my card and gave her five dollars cash for a tip. I get to the car just to double check the transaction and she charged me 3499 on my card and took the cash. I went back inside to confront her about this advising. She completely overcharged me, and she only offered to give my six dollars tip back to me. I am now going to dispute the transaction with my bank because I was unable to resolve this issue. That's sad.

Tacos El Nevado came highly recommended, so I headed over for lunch with high hopes. The restaurant was packed when I arrived around 1:30 p.m., which is usually a good sign. It appears to be a converted fast-food building with its own parking lot, outdoor patio, and a casual, family-friendly atmosphere. Despite the Charlotte heat pushing triple digits, the dining room was comfortable and bustling. Service was friendly from the start, and I was quickly seated with ice water, lemon, fresh chips, and three house-made salsas. The chips were excellent--fresh, crisp, and clearly made in-house. The standout salsa for me was the red salsa, which packed plenty of heat and flavor. There was also a tomatillo salsa and a creamy green avocado-style salsa. Both were good, although the tomatillo leaned a little too tart for my taste. The menu is extensive, with everything from seafood dishes and quesadillas to tacos and larger combination plates. As someone who loves sampling a little of everything, I was hoping for more traditional combo options, but this menu takes a different approach. I ordered the crispy taco plate with rice and beans. The presentation was attractive, with the tacos served upright in a metal rack alongside refried beans and Mexican rice. The rice and beans were both delicious and easily the highlight of the plate. Where things got mixed for me was the taco filling. I was expecting a straightforward seasoned ground beef taco, but the beef filling tasted more like a guisado-style preparation with a softer texture and a slightly tangy flavor profile. It may simply be a regional style or a misunderstanding when ordering, but it wasn't what I had anticipated. The chicken taco, however, was excellent. Tender, flavorful, and clearly made with higher-quality chicken than you typically find in a crispy taco. After trying it, I immediately wished I had ordered all chicken. While this visit didn't completely win me over, I don't think it's fair to judge a restaurant by one dish. The packed dining room, friendly service, fresh chips, excellent salsas, and strong chicken taco all suggest there's more to explore here. Next time, I'd skip the crispy beef tacos and dive into the street tacos or some of the house specialties that seem to be what many regulars were ordering. Tacos El Nevado didn't become my favorite Mexican restaurant in Charlotte on this visit, but it earned a second chance. Life is too short not to eat well, Charlotte. Keep exploring. Sometimes the next great meal is just one menu item away.

We got two Burrito Fresas (one grilled chicken and one chicken tinga). The burritos had the COOLEST crunchy cheese coating on the tortilla that the hugs all of the ingredients inside the burrito. Both the grilled chicken and the chicken tinga were phenomenal. We truly could not decide who the "winner" was because they were both so flavorful. Now, to talk about the other fun part!!! SORBET MARGARITAS! I'm obsessed. I had initially seen Que Fresca on social media, specifically for the soft serve margs. And let me tell you - they did nit disappoint. They have two flavors - strawberry and lemon (and then you can do a swirl). They were SO refreshing and delightful!! It was such a fun way to ~eat~ a margarita! All of the staff were friendly and very quick. The restaurant is well laid out and I love that it had TVs to watch all the games. The bathrooms are fun too - as the mirrors have color changing lights! I cannot wait to come back and try more!

The cheese was more burnt so the wrap had that unique flavor you get with well cooked cheese (make a grilled cheese. burn some of the excess cheese off dripping off the side , then eat it and you'll know what I mean). Before the server brought it out I could seem a couple of employees picking at one half of the burrito - which had me concerned. I assume it had some aluminum foil pieces from where the burrito was sliced in half. Sincerely hoping that was all it was. The employees seemed to be just standing around not talking to one another while there were tables that needed to be cleaned for new guests.
