O was very hopeful for this place, it turned to be a HUGE disappointment, we waited close to an hour for our food which was not what we expected for the overpriced dishes and drinks. We order seafood which rates old and frozen, way too much salt, soy sauce and swimming in oil. It was so gross that we couldn't even finished our plates. Service was a disappointment as well, our server didn't even check on us to see if everything was ok, we had to go to the counter to ask for our bill and pay so we could get the heck out of there. This place definitely has its pros and cons. Pros: anticuchos and tallarines a la huancaina are top tier! arroz con marisco often doesn't have a lot of mariscos but the overall taste is good. The portions are large and presentation is great!The environment as a whole is clean and inviting and they often have shows and performers that are amazing in the Peruvian community. Cons: food is overprized in my opinion, the bistec has no real flavor besides salt, and the huancaina is hit or miss (mostly miss). read more

My family and I visited this restaurant on a Saturday around 6:30pm. Cons: -we waited at the "wait to be seated area", no hostess was attentive until someone had to get the attention from the cashier to be seated. -once waitress came they asked the people in the waiting area who was first and customers had to do provide them with the information to then be seated. -the waitress came to seat us and once directed to the table the manager or head waitress came as we're sitting down and said that this table was reserved and if we could get up and go back to the waiting area. Our family had to stand up from the table and wait to be seated again. WE WATCHED as the time went on and that party never showed up and they ended up moving the tables around for other people and made my family get up from this table in the middle of the restaurant for no reason. - no apology from manager/waitress in that instant -took forever to get water to the table - were not spread to far apart from other tables -if weather is cold outside you can feel the air come in each time through the door( don't recommend sitting anywhere near the entrance) +Fans are on above PROs: -All staff wore masks all the time and made the environment safe. -Clean facility -food was tasty and well plated - our bus girl was outstanding and super sweet and provided comical conversation as she cleaned off the table. We recommend having someone at the front to coordinate seating and greeting. As a Peruvian I tend to be extra picky when eating a Peruvian restaurants but let me tell you, Chilcanos was a nice surprise. I ordered the Ronda Marina and it was perfect for any seafood lover. It comes with little bit of everything (seafood with rice, ceviche, fried fish/calamar and mashed potatoe stuffed with tuna. Everything was seasoned nicely, the dish itself was nice because I can never pick just one thing. The dish is big enough for 2 people. I also got the leche de tigre...which was delicious! The choros a la chalaca were good but personally I was so happier with all the other food. The drinks were also good, nice music in the background and family friendlyenvironment. read more

Will never return to this restaurant again , came here for mother's day taking my mom and family out and it did not turn out well at all , took them about 1 hour and 30- 40 mins to bring our food and by that time we were already pissed off and didn't even want to eat anymore Service was terrible they didn't not come back to our table one time within that time period to refill our water. I came here with high hopes and unfortunately wasn't very satisfied with the food. The papa a la huancaina was average, but really needed more seasoning on the potatoes and the sauce had too many crackers in it. The ceviche, while fresh, was lacking flavor. It was watery and bland. The Jalea tasted like every piece of seafood was frozen before fried. It was very dry and bland. The Pescado Frito was actually ok. I didn't have any complaints about this other than it was slightly soggy. I was most disappointed by the Chicharrones de Pescado. It tasted like breaded old fish. . The breading was very thick which made the already old fish dry. Couldn't get past the nasty flavor of old fish. The odd part was that it tasted older and completely different than the other fried fish dish that we ordered. The only bright spot of this dish was the salsa creolla (onion salad) that came on the side. It was fresh and delicious. It took them an hour literally to get our food to our table and when the food arrived they didn't even give us any sauces or hot sauce like any other normal Peruvian restaurant would. I have been coming here since they opened, and I have never been disappointed. The food is authentic Peruvian dishes that are all amazing! My favorite appetizer is the Chilcano's Leche de Tigre (pictured) and the Lomo Saltado! The service is great too! With abilingual staff, they are very attentive to your needs, especially the owners wife Juliana who greets every table and makes sure their experience is a great dining one. Food is good, unfortunately there's a lady here with really bad manners. I was there trying to buy food and I didn't have much time so I didn't park my truck right. I know is not the best excuse but I wasn't blocking anything or double parked. She started demanding for me to move my truck cause she wanted to park in the no parking zone..and she still parked with out having to move my truck. I didn't want to confront her so I left inside the restaurant and ordered my food. When I was about to pay for my food she walked inside and told the cashier not to take my order. I'm not sure if she owns the place all I know is that I was hungry and she didn't want to sell me food for something unrelated to the restaurant.. I left the restaurant and she was waiting outside near my truck with 5 guys I'm guessing her workers.I still didn't confront anyone, I think this kind of people shouldn't have a business license. The food is great but the customer service is poor! I've been here several times since they opened this place and usually go during the week on my lunch break. Sunday (10/3/21)decided to take my family and just had a horrible experience. We walked in and it took 10-15 min to get acknowledged to get seated. After being seated it took another 25 min to place our orders for drinks, mind you we asked for coke and no alcohol so really long for a beverage already made. Our server was EXTREMELY RUDE, didn't greet us just right away asked what we wanted, and it just went down from there. Our appetizer came out before our drinks-probably took 30 mins to get, and after we got our drinks finally were able to place our orders. Last but not least, when it was time to eat, our foods came at a different times-4 different plates order, by the time the last plate came out our food was already cold since we all wanted to eat at the time. This was the third time coming to this restaurant. First time was great, no complaints. Second visit I ordered food to go because I was on my lunch break. Even though I ordered online to have it ready for when I got there, it wasn't. I had to wait a good 15-20 minutes for the food to be ready due to some confusion on other online orders. Food was good that time as well, but I had to eat pretty fast since my break time was almost up. Third time I gave it another chance since my first time was a great experience. I went there with my whole family. It was the worst experience in a restaurant ever. Firstly we were seated then had to wait for a waitress to take our drink order for a good 20 minutes. Then took forever to get our drinks and to take our food order. I started noticing everyone that was being seated after us got their food and started leaving and we still had no food. There was one kind bartender that approached us to see if everything was ok we explained to him what was happening and he was very apologetic and sped up the process of getting our food. At one point we saw our waitress on her phone rather than trying to get our food to us faster. With no exaggeration it took almost an hour and half to get our food. Had the experience to go today to Chilcano's RestoBar! Had the leche de tigre/ milk tiger pretty much is fish ceviche. The breaded shrimps and calamari were delicious. However, the rest didn't taste fresh, and to be honest is something I won't order again. For main course, I had Tallarines a la huancaína. Dish looked really good, but just took a few bites and it was not what I expected. I love Peruvian food, in fact Peruvian food is my number one favorite food, but this dishes I felt were missing a lot of that flavors of what Peruvian food is known for. Today was that first time I came with my family (from Maryland). I am Peruavian, and I know and recognize when food is really good. I must say that our experience today was very far from being a good one. The leche de tigre was too salty and nothing like a real one, the fish in the cebiche was a very cheap taste and texture, the trio marino had the same fish mentioned before, the arroz con mariscos was uncooked. The one be thing that was good were the chicha morada, mango and passion fruit beverages. In sum, we left the restaurant very disappointed and we're not planning to come back nor even recommend this place. read more

So i made a 45 minute drive for this and first off all ask exclatly what the dish has because it came with corn inside my plate and i told them in the description it didn't say it came with it inside the dish and they ask to take my dish back and pick it out like what ? but anyways my kids salchipapa fries where dried and cold too , it was so disappointing . read more

Pretty disappointing. Was so looking forward to trying this restaurant after seeing the pictures and reading some of the reviews. First we ordered the Chica Morada juice which was delicious- I'd never had it before- and the tamarindo juice which was just ok. Then We ordered the leche de Tigre Chicano as an appetizer and the jalea, and the lomo satado for entrees. They all came out at once and the lomo saltado was pretty good. But everything else was so incredibly bland. It's like they didn't season anything at all and felt that the large portions would make up for it. The portions were in fact enormous, but we ended up leaving most of it. If it wasn't good initially, the fried food wouldn't get any better later. Even the ceviche was bland! Couldn't taste any seasonings or even the lime on the fish! So odd. It literally was the blandest ceviche ever. We got some the mini Alfajores to go and they were pretty good. They were extremely busy but the waitress was very nice and helpful. With tip it was $90+, definitely NOT worth it. read more

This place is spectacular! Food as good as it gets, in an unassuming location. Lomo Saltado is as good as I've had at another highly rated Peruvian restaurant in the region. Seafood rice and soup are packed with flavor. My only knock on this place is that they don't make empanadas often (or else they don't make enough before they sell out). This was my first time trying this restaurant, and I was quite disappointed. To begin, I walked in to find the Fairfax County Health department setting up to lecture the "Hispanic community" on the necessity of COVID vaccination. I asked to order a drink from the bar, and the server told me no, no bar. I'm looking at a bar with bottles and a bartender and asked again and was told I could order one of their juices... I then said, ok how about a diet coke. I ordered 1/2 chicken meal with Red Beans & Rice and a side salad. The coke came in a mini-bottle, and an empty glass with no ice. Asked for ice and was told no ice... Food came, chicken was fabulous, red beans were good, but no rice. I was then told that the rice was an additional side. So I had a bowl of bean soup. I asked for a spoon...no spoon... Add the disappointment over the service with the liberal disinformation racist rants being delivered by the FCHD, and the experience was a miserable one. Mother's Day ruined. Our mom had food from here a couple months ago and chose this same place as her Mother's Day dinner. When we arrived the place was packed and it was evident that there was more people than they can handle. We waited patiently because it was mother's day and we understood it would take longer than usual. We finally get waited on and it just so happens that almost everyone at the table had the lomo saltado in mind, after taking 3 peoples order out of a 7 person table, the waiter says "make up your minds how many lomo saltados in do you all want". This was the first rude thing said to us but again, it was Mother's Day so we did not say anything back. We waited one hour for our food. Never got asked if we need more water, they even ran out of cups and only brought us 4 waters at a table of 7. So 3 people never got their water. 3 plates finally come out, and the food is cold. Again, we are 7 people. We kindly ask them to remake our moms food and we agreed to keep the cold food for ourselves. The waiter argued that he got the food as soon as it came out and it cannot possibly be cold. This is a lie. The food was cold the fried were soggy. Our two guest that never got their food cancelled their order and left. We were still waiting for one plate of food and when the waiter came I asked him kindly to package it because I had a 3 month old baby with me and we had to leave after waiting so long. Again, he argued that they just prepared it and it would be too much work to package it for us. What waiter speaks to their guest this way? I don't want to say that the restaurant was discriminating against us because my partner and two of our guest were black, but since we sat down they treated us badly and even the manager did not care to apologize or make up for such terrible service. Their attitude towards us since we got there seemed targeted at us so maybe they are racist. All they cared about was getting more and more people seated before making sure all their guest got their food. And on top of that they automatically add 20% tip when they did not deserve it at all.
