This place is a super cool little tiki bar located in the city of Falls Church! It is mostly outdoor seating. The food is really amazing - the guac was so fresh and flavorful. The service was also great. The only issue was my orange crush. It was SO strong and heavy in the alcohol that it didn't taste very good. Overall, super fun little spot great for a summer day!

First time here! Had no idea how big the place was! The outdoor space is charming -- very Key West vibe... Especially on an evening with beautiful weather. Service was great. Love their menu... Lots of options for carnivores, pescatarians, vegans and vegetarians. The fried pickles were great -- love the cornmeal crust. The fried oysters were also very good. I loved the burrito bowl with blackened fish. Also at our table were the outstanding shrimp tacos. Both the fish and shrimp were cooked perfectly and "blackened" in seasoning only -- NOT overcooked like some restaurants do with blackened seafood. Can't wait to go back!

Absolutely my favorite in the area! Always positive energy and good vibes. Live music, busy areas, quiet areas, outdoor/indoor areas, great variety of food to please everyone. Today I was starving so I ordered a bowl of chili knowing it'd come out quickly, then a crab cake sandwich with fries and great Cole slaw. I usually sit outside but picked a quiet spot inside today. I always see the same staff which speaks volumes. I know there are many great restaurants in the area but I almost always end up here.

Clare and Don's is a very fun and lively place. The vibe is relaxed and you really feel like you are at the beach. They have an outside patio, one side equipped with a tent so you are really outside and they also have a covered patio that leads to the inside dining area. Service was great. There were plenty of staff so you could ask anyone for small things like extra napkins, etc. Our server was friendly and took care of us. One thing I don't like, the prices are not listed on the drink menu. So, you need to ask and inquire what the rates are - o not, if your pockets are deeply loaded, lol!! We ordered fries, chips and salsa and drinks which all came out quickly. The fast service was appreciated since we only had a little bit of time before a concert at The State Theater. There was a live band that added a nice element to the experience. Fun place! Highly recommend!

Fun place with decent food and drink selection. I came here with a friend for an event. Staff are friendly and ambiance is a great blend of outdoors and indoor.

Love this place. Beachy atmosphere with an island flair. Fried oysters were good and so was the Admiral's Feast. Others got the pasta and the chowder- all good. Service was also good. Outdoor seating is greater than the indoor seating, but there was plenty of seating, no matter which you choose.

The food here is not something I would recommend or eat again. I ordered the shrimp that was supposed to have lemon and butter on it. Unfortunately the shrimp tasted like dirty dish water. I was with friends and just didn't eat the shrimp but was concerned about its freshness. The salad came straight from a bag. They placed the fries next to the zucchini so my fries were sopping wet. Overall, just concerned about the likelihood of getting food poisoning here. The service was good and I can see the attraction of outdoor bar seating in the summer. Overall, though, would not recommend.

    Prepping for the event.

I met with the owner David to plan a 40th work anniversary party for my wife. I have never received such specialized care. He and Susan totally designed a menu to our specifications, including filet mignon, fresh fish, fresh pasta, etc. He also reorganized the swamp for seating for 50 people. I met with Misa and Anna a few days before the event and they were in instrumental in making sure the room was decorated properly. With live entertainment and Sergey heading the wait staff the service was impeccable. The food was delicious and the surprise was awesome. I could not be happier. You should give Clare & Don's a chance to do your private party. It will be awesome.

Idk who Clare and Don are , but you guys figured it out! The restaurant / live music vibe here is great. This is more so a summer spot, but the interior boasts what could complement as a staycation. Great staff and comfortably spaced out seating arrangements. The crab cakes were absolutely gorgeous, were ordered them 3 times in one go as they were so flavorful. 5*!

05.16.2025 @2:45pm Walking for a table of 6 with 1 dog. We took the outdoor sitting due to the dog. The service was good. We were here just for a little snack and break. I like the crab cake the best.

We return to Clare & Don's repeatedly - mostly because of all the vegetarian options, but also because there are meat, fish, and gluten-free options, making it a great place to meet friends of all eating preferences. The atmosphere is beachy, they add more items on the walls over the years, and they play beachy music too. They have live bands both on their outdoor stage and indoors, usually in the evening. They are also good for sports fans - they have a few screens showing whatever sports are in season. Service is very good for a casual place. I have seen some of the same staff there for years, which I think is a good sign. It does have some grit to it, it's not highly polished, and the bathrooms could use an upgrade. But it is a reliable eating and drinking establishment, we have never had a bad time.

We were wanting to do takeout for dinner but after seeing the menu online, I'm glad we went there and ate. It was hot out on a Wednesday evening. We sat inside along with other customers. We were greeted while we were outside. The tables were but sticky. Service was good although it took a while toward the end to find and flag our waitress. I ordered a crab cake appetizer and a bowl of shrimp gambolaya. The gambolaya was spicy but just enough spiciness for me to tolerate and the flavor was good. (Do not order this if you don't like spicy foods.) The side of crab cake was just right for me. It was flavorful but I came across a few shell pieces. I would order both again. My husband had the crab cake dinner with the side salad entree which he enjoyed since he is a huge crab cake fan. My MIL had the blackened fish tacos which she found it to be a little spicy for her but she did like it. She only ate one of her two tacos since there was a lot of rice and beans to fill you up. Great themed place to check out when you're in Falls Church.

Something is very off with the (lack of) protein quality at the Falls Church location. The head-on shrimp were smallish - some were 21-25 count, some were 26-30 count, and all had an off-putting *green* poop line. The clams were inedible and tiny. Half of the clams were missing from their shells. They shouldn't be sold. When I showed the poor quality of the clams to the server, they offered a 20% discount - clearly they don't get it. What keeps me loyal to the brand is their signature Hot N Juicy Special sauce (mod: extra garlic). No other Viet Cajun (even in Houston or wherever) comes close to the depth and complexity of the Hot N Juicy Special sauce. For now, the winning move is to order a some sausage in a cup with Hot N Juicy Special medium sauce w/extra garlic TO GO, and sautée it with a bag of defrosted Costco head-on 16-20 count shrimp, or a few dozen live Cherrystone clams from HMart. There is so much potential here. The sauce is boss. Solve your protein problem!

That said, on to my experience. First, the outside drew me right in - evil eye - yes! The inside was very clean (including restroom) and had a modern Mediterranean feel to it. We were greeted immediately and asked our preference for inside or out. I chose inside bc the outside was quite full. Our waiter came right over with water. It took a minute for him to come back, but I wasn't in a hurry and they were very busy. We chose to order multiple apps (instead of dinner entrees) to get a taste of many things. I am not going to remember or spell the names of the dishes correctly so forgive me; I'm going to just describe what we ordered. The meatballs - delicious, juicy, herbaceous The dip with fish row - this was salty, as it should be, but not too salty. The pita was perfection. I loved this. The halloumi cheese - wow! The best I've had. The beet salad - lots of diced up beets and the vinaigrette was very tasty. This salad was big! With a protein on it, it would definitely be a meal. The calamari - this was disappointing. It was cooked correctly, but really had no flavor, even after we squirted it with lemon and added salt. I did not love the lemon dip/sauce accompaniment. If you are going to try the calamari, I would suggest getting it on the side. Dessert - Capital Y, yum! The orange sponge cake, well, it was a little bit of heaven. It is a very wet cake and very orange forward, just fyi. The donuts with Nutella - if you like loukoumades and Nutella, you'll love it! I did. Finally, I had the Mythos lager. Not light like a Miller Lite, but definitely not heavy and hoppy like an IPA. I enjoyed it. My husband had the Greek coffee. He said it was fine, but not very full bodied. I've never had a Greek coffee, so I can't speak to that. I liked that they asked him if he wanted it: not sweet, mid, or sweet. Overall, if you like Greek food and you aren't in a rush - go here!

Rather than acknowledging that the order was lost and suggesting an alternative, the server rushes the third dish (without any communication), and it arrives after the rest of my party has finished eating. Parking can be tight at this plaza. Active construction and lots of 10 minute spaces be sure to read the signs and park where appropriate. Crab boil bags is what led us here! And you can get boils with smaller amounts 1/2 pounds which you don't find at many crab boil places. Perfect for those who can't eat much or smaller appetite even as leftovers. I decided on the half pound headless shrimp, crab legs (my favorite!) and a lobster tail! We also got a bigger boil with a pound of head on shrimp, king crab legs, pound of scallops and some BBQ wings on the side. We tried the combo sauce "Crazy special" a mix of Cajun, garlic, and lemon pepper. Boils come with corn, potatoes, and sausage! There was so much food!!!! The wings came out hot, saucy, and still crispy with some house ranch on the side. Then came the boils. Just look at them!!!!!!! The seafood with fresh with actual garlic, fresh parsley, and saucy. Sauce was buttery, garlic was plentiful, good lemon pepper taste. Cajun was present but not strong. But the buttery goodness pooled at the bottom of our pans. Perfect for ensuring all bites were saucy bites. Rez stopped by to make sure we were good during our meal. We received snow crab instead of King on our big boil. Rez acknowledged the mistake and immediately made it right, no fuss, no making us feel bad, not even taking the incorrect legs back. Just phenomenal service and showing care for his customers. About three weeks ago, I left a 5-star review for Hook & Reel Cajun Seafood & Bar because, until…read morerecently, it had become one of my family's go-to seafood spots due to its convenience and generally good food. Before that, our preferred restaurant had always been Crazy Crab, where we consistently had excellent experiences. Unfortunately, after today, I will not be returning to Hook & Reel. I brought family members who had just driven in from Massachusetts and planned to treat them to dinner. There were four of us dining, and while three planned to order the All-You-Can-Eat option, one person preferred ordering directly from the regular menu. After we had already ordered drinks, we were informed by the manager, Vivian, that either everyone at the table had to order All-You-Can-Eat, or everyone had to order from the regular menu. There was no flexibility, no customer consideration, and no appreciation shown for the fact that we are repeat customers who have spent a significant amount of money there over time. In fact, several friends and members of our church began dining there based on our recommendation. What was most disappointing was not simply the policy itself, but the way the situation was handled. We were made to feel as though the restaurant viewed us as people trying to "game the system" over a few shrimp or crab legs, rather than loyal customers bringing business and referrals into the establishment. To make matters worse, this was communicated only after our drink orders had already been placed. Rather than create a scene, we simply paid for our drinks and left. We immediately went to Crazy Crab, where the experience could not have been more different. Staff members remembered us even though it had been months since our last visit. We were welcomed warmly, treated with dignity and respect, and received exceptional service from beginning to end. We gladly spent over $230 there instead. As a retired Army veteran, retired federal executive, business owner, and someone who frequently hosts family, friends, church members, and professional guests at restaurants, customer experience matters greatly to me. One poor interaction can cost a business far more than a single table. It can impact repeat business, referrals, community reputation, and future opportunities. From a business perspective, this experience should concern ownership. In today's economy, restaurants do not simply compete on food -- they compete on customer experience, relationships, and reputation. One inflexible interaction from management did not just lose a single dinner sale; it likely lost repeat visits, family gatherings, business meals, church referrals, and positive word-of-mouth within the local community. Strong businesses empower managers to protect both policy and customer relationships. Unfortunately, in this situation, customer loyalty and hospitality were sacrificed over what appeared to be concern about one person potentially sharing food. That decision ultimately cost the restaurant far more than it protected. If you want to dine somewhere where hospitality, consistency, and customer appreciation still matter, I would strongly recommend Crazy Crab. I truly hope Hook & Reel reflects on how situations like this are handled in the future, because no loyal customer should leave feeling disrespected after choosing to spend their hard-earned money at your establishment.

But let me back up..... The atmosphere was incredible, sitting outside on rooftop bar in the early summer evening! The service was TOP NOTCH!!! We were a little complicated w questions & unable to make up our minds PLUS I asked them to change my drink a tad & take out all the chocolate, reluctantly he made it and my GOSH it was the BEST espresso martini I've ever EVER had in my life AND it looked the very best too!!! The food.....ALL FOUR of us said it was delicious and the very best we've had!! I only got pictures of my supper and their dessert but it was ALL delicious!!!! I extend my HIGHEST recommendation for you if you're ever remotely close to Washington DC. It's not in DC but worth the drive across the river! We NEVER eat at the same place twice on a trip, but guarantee ya we would be there tomorrow if we weren't going to NYC!!! Stop by Dogwood Tavern & say hello to Ronnie & Haile and the other bartender but didn't catch his name! They were all PHENOMENAL!!!!

Came out piping hot, which is wonderful, but the cheese dip tasted spoiled to me. I've had it there before and I think that's just the way they serve it. It was too viscous and I think tasted off. They had a chicken chili. I don't know what made it a chili, but it was a delicious soup. I'm so glad they didn't make it spicy. I don't know why everything has to be spicy these days. Staff was friendly and they do their best at making the environment look nice. Our waiter and subsequent service staff were very good. It looks like they hire local teenagers also--hat's nice.
