Tried Sugar & Cream Cafe for the first time and already know this is going to become one of my favorite spots in Los Alamos this summer. I have already been here 3 times!!! So far, I have ordered the Lavender Haze and the Oatmilk Cookie specialty coffees, and both were SO good. The Italian sub was unexpectedly one of my favorite things, somehow it tasted like pepperoni pizza and was absolutely delicious. I also tried the quiche, which was fresh, flavorful, and perfect with the coffee. We also tried their gelatos. Although not too many options, what we tried was delicious. Worst macarons I've ever had. If you're going to charge two bucks a pop you should warn me that they suck. The outer shell was brittle in a bad way, the insides were bone dry, and the flavors were more than subpar. I'm assuming they're from a package and not made in house, there should be a warning or something. Decent coffee drink options and delicious pastries, very centrally located in Los Alamos. There aren't a ton of coffee shops or cafes, and even fewer that are open on the weekends, so its a popular place. During our visit to Los Alamos, we stopped at Sugar & Cream for an afternoon pick-me-up. This is a great location, within walking distance of all the cool sights Los Alamos has to offer. We ordered: - Ice Latte x2 - Cold Brew - Pesto Sandwich - Fruit Turnover - Chocolate Croissant They also have ice cream! We tried the Lemon Poundcake Muffin, White Chocolate Macadamia Nut Cookie and an Iced Twix Latte. Muffin - Because of the name, we expected this to be a lemon poundcake in the shape of a muffin. It's definitely a lemon muffin with glaze. They might want to consider changing the name. Weren't fans of this one. Cookie - Delicious! It was also really crunchy, which we liked a lot but if you prefer a soft, chewy cookie you might want to skip. Latte - Definitely on the super sweet side. Liked the small ice cubes though! A cute little cafe in Los Alamos. If you are walking around the main square great stop for some coffee, a sweet treat, or a snack. They have lots of speciality lattes, I got the lavender latte and loved it. A good flavor of lavender without being overpowering. It's not a huge space so if it's busy you may have to share a bigger table with another group. read more

What a nice treat! Their coffee (milk alternatives available) $4-$6 and pastries are very good and they have so much to choose from! It all looks so good. I especially loved the ambiance and staff. An adorable little place. It's been years since I been back in Los Alamos. I was nearby so the kids and I drove up to visit old friends/coworker who live in town. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This is new, spacious cafe with a wonderful selections of baked goods, drinks, gelatos, etc.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Everything I bought and ordered were delicious. The croissant was flaky and tasty. Very reasonably priced. The drink took awhile to come out and I ordered a cupcake for my 5 years old that they didn't do pack away...when we came back mentioned it, they gave us the cupcake. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There is a little patio that you can sit outside as well; plenty of customer with dogs sitting outside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Drinks were good as well; I got a chilled chai latte. We decided to try the new cafe (Sugar and Cream Cafe) that opened in the old Starbucks downtown. I have to say that this is so much better than a Starbucks. There is indoor and outdoor seating available. The cafe is in a great location downtown near Ashley Pond, so you can enjoy your food and drinks at the pond if it is packed. The coffee is self serve, which I like. The staff and service are great. The food came out so fast and was wonderful. We shared a pesto, arugula, and goat cheese croissant. The flavor was light and butter. The pastry was very flaky. I was happy with this option; however, the flavor could be a little stronger. We also shared a peach and almond tart. I was extremely happy with this option. The flavor was just right and the texture was crunchy with a soft middle. We also split a peach croissant, which was my favorite. The flavor was strong and the texture was surprising. I tasted almost like a peach cobbler. We are lucky to have this cafe in town and I hope it survives. I will definitely be returning. read more

Dropped by this cafe when we visited Los Alamos and it was definitely a highlight. We split a bacon croissant and quiche and they were both amazing. The croissant was flaky and crunchy and the quiche had an amazing sugary, crunchy crust, though we did have to ask for it to be warmed up. Also got a cup of hazelnut crunch gelato, which probably could have done with a bit more crunch but was otherwise quite nice. The place itself is well lit and pretty cozy. Very good food, staff is relatively polite, and it's usually pretty quiet and not super busy. The pastries come cold, but they're glad to warm them up if you ask, and the coffee is amazing. There's also very nice outdoor seating.hen the weather is nice. They even have an "espresso field guide" for how they make their drinks, with a ratio of coffee, steamed milk, and foam for several different drinks. Overall a wonderful experience. read more

One of my colleagues suggested this mom and pop gem in Los Alamos. I decided to give it a try since the menu seemed appealing to my love for sweet lattes. I'm glad I stopped by.
