I've been to the Champaign Chilis twice now and both times the service was slow. Last night I ordered the tripple dipper and chose the Big Mouth Bites (hamburger sliders), the Southwestern Eggrolls and the Hot Spinach & Artichoke Dip. While the two mini-burgers and the dip & chips was good, it was nothing spectacular. (My Aunt makes MUCH better spinach dip!) The Southwestern Eggrolls were the entire reason I ordered this combo plate and I was seriously disappointed when my plate arrived to discover how incredibly overcooked these were; there were black edges where it looked like they had caught fire in the microwave and the flames put out! They were also dry like they had been partially cooked, frozen and reheated....Ick. If you like the "Friday's/Applebees/Cheddars/Bennigan's" standard American Fare, you won't be disappointed. read more

Before I moved here to IL, my hang out in Palatka & Saint Augustine, FL was Chili's!!! It's our fav!!! I don't even have to look @ the menu because I know it by heart! Everything on there is the BOMB!!! I KNOW BECAUSE I'VE HAD PRETTY MUCH EVERYTHING ON THE MENU! The only thing about the Chili's here in Champaign, IL that I don't like is that they do not have Happy Hour 24-7 like we do in Florida...I guess the SOUTH really knows how to "GET R DUN!!!" ;) Keep it up Chili's!!!! This is by far my fav. restaurant chain! I have had good and bad experiences with service but the food has been great! They are always getting new menu items and I have never disliked a meal! Another plus is that there open later than most chain restaurants which is good for me being a server myself I can still go grab a bite to eat with out the guilt of going in ten minutes before close! read more

Chili's is one of our favorite go-to restaurants because of the variety of good food and fast service. We arrived around noon on Sunday and were seated immediately. The chips and salsa are the best. Eh, my experience was just ok; it really wasn't anything special. I used to go to Chili's a lot when I was younger and I remember their service and food being much better than it is now. I'm fairly disappointed that they don't do anything for birthdays.I took my friend here on her birthday because Chili's is her favorite restaurant and I could barely get a "happy birthday" out of the staff. The spicy shrimp tacos were not spicy and just mediocre. The rice was dry and the beans were reminiscent of an aluminum exterior. Our waitress was also noticeably absent throughout the meal. My final complaint is that they do not take reservations; this is a huge turn-off to me as a customer. I think their one saving grace is their chicken crispers; I tried a bite of my friend's and they were actually really good. We like the variety and taste of dishes at Chilis. The only downside is their cleanliness, most of the time I feel disgusted looking at how they don't cleanup the dining area (its a mess on the floor and also the way they handle food. read more

I can't believe I'm about to review Chili's, but we go here often enough that I may as well. Standard American fare, but I've found this place to have way better service than its peers in the area (Applebees, Ruby Tuesday) so we usually head here if we want something quick and American-y in North Prospect. Food is average, but they're pretty quick and the crowds of waiting people seem to dissipate pretty quickly at busy times. read more

We came here on a Sunday night. It was not very busy, our server had maybe 4 or 5 tables all night. We had some of the absolute worst service we've had at any restaurant. We had 6 people, and four of us had the 3 for me combo meals. The other two shared a 2 for $25. Two of us had chips and salsa and those came out after 20 minutes after ordering, the 2 for $25 had an onion blossom appetizer which came out 10 minutes later, and the other two of us had a 1/2 side salad which came out 15 minutes after that. Right after we got our salads our entrees came. During our meal we had to beg the server to take our empty cups, as well as finished plates, and some of us didn't even get a refill and we were here for over 2 hours. The food was really good but the time it took to get our food was unacceptable. After our dinner, there was a complication with the check which would have had us paying an extra $10 more than we ordered. That took about 25-30 minutes to be resolved. Overall, I'd say we spent twice as much time waiting for our food and waiting to pay than we did eating our food. Very, very unpleasant experience and we will make it a point to never go back to this Chili's location as well as any other location. This was a disaster. read more

My wife and I do not currently live in an area where a Chili's is near by, but every time we travel Chili's is one of the first places we will look for. We will probably be moving in the near future and we hope to find a Chili's in our new neighborhood when we do move. Slow service at lunchtime, the lettuce was brown, and the soup was ok, but not worth what they charge. This was my last meal here.

Something about Chili's always brings me back. Maybe it is the delicious chicken crispers. Perhaps it is the molten lava cake. The 2 for $20 really isn't a bad deal, though oftentimes my wife and I will just share the chicken crispers (with double fries, no corn) and an appetizer. Plenty of food for two. read more

Half of the time I order BBQ ribs, but everything else I've order is always excellent. My wife is Chinese and Chili's is her favorite place to eat. I've eaten good BBQ ribs at a couple of other places in town, but I think Chili's has the best ribs I've ever eaten. The few times I got to another place for ribs, is because Chili's is so busy and I can't wait to eat. read more

Our Cheddars has been closed down, and we have been looking for a new "our place', and so we gave Chili's a try, and it looks like you are the #1 place on our list now. Is there a zero start option? This place was terrible! It took over 45 minutes to receive our food, and the place wasn't even that busy! Once we got our food it was cold and we had to ask for warm food which took another 20 minutes!! When we finally finished our food we waited forever for the waitress to bring us our checks and some to-go boxes. I ended up having to go and retrieve the manager and have her get us our checks. She brought us our checks but just put the on the table, she did not wait for us to pay. So we had to wait another 30 minutes for someone to come back around to collect our money!!! On top of that, the manager did not apologize for the abysmal service, she did not give us a discount on our terrible late, cold food, or the poor service. This is by far the worst service I have ever received at a chain restaurant! In the time it took us to get our food, get warm food, get our checks, have them come get our checks back, and get out, a table next to us was flipped 3 times. Another table that had the same server as us was having the same experience as us and neither the server nor management were doing anything about it. At least it added a bit of humor to the night. But Chile's you may have lost my business for good, I'll stick to Applebees. read more

First of all let me make this clear: my family and I love to go to Chili's and do so quite often. The food is great. But this particular experience unfortunately rubbed me the wrong way. We called in an order ahead of time and our estimated pickup time was 5:55 PM, so as we arrived at 5:50 we thought we'd have pretty good timing. We thought wrong. As we went in through the To-Go door, a woman followed us in who was apparently a former waitress there. She was a few months pregnant and the employees were more-than-excited to see her. As we began to pay for our order, the employee who was helping us LEFT our payment in the middle of the process, as did six or seven other waiters, to go "feel her stomach." They all sat down at an empty but large customer's table and began to promptly rub her belly. Slightly upset by what was taking place, we went over and asked if one of them could please help us get our takeout food. What we saw was all of them sharing DAIRY QUEEN food and laughing and rubbing this lady's belly. Yuck. So we sat and waited until someone came by who was actually ready to help us. And what we heard while sitting there was even worse... Racist jokes flew left and right, though the only one clearly audible to me was "So is the baby going to be BLACK??" followed by uproarious laughter amongst the employees. Keep in mind this is during the dinner-time rush. And no one seemed to care. One employee joined in and commented, "My table's got a bunch of drinkers at it, so I can't stay too long." Great, now they're tossing around insults about the customers. Eventually by 6:20 PM we received our food and got home to discover that two of the four items were incorrect, one of them even missing completely. We were over-charged too and I was overall disgusted. The combination of the belly-rubbing, sharing food from other restaurants, insulting the customers, and making us wait half an hour for our INCORRECT order makes me never want to go back to this Chili's again. Chili's used to be our favorite place to eat. Then they added 300 items to their menu. Every time I go, my food is lukewarm, at best. Today, we had a party of 5 and my food was not hot. I was able to get the waitress to warm it and then it was fine, but really disappointing--and it used to be my favorite meal (Margarita Grilled Chicken). There wasn't even grill marks on the chicken! I remember the days when they cooked the food there--when you could order a burger and they asked how you wanted it cooked. Now, nothing is freshly cooked. Everything tastes microwaved and is average. When we paid our check, we did it on the table computer because our waitress was busy and hard to catch. When we figured the tip, we set it to 15% on a bill just over $50.00 (I typically tip 20% but the attitude the waitress gave me about my food having to go back made her lose my normal amount). Somehow, our tip registered more than $10.00. As great as it is to have so many options to eat, they sacrificed the components that made them a great place to eat. Great margaritas, salsa and chips are very good, but, that's about it. Sorry to lose this place as a staple, but they really screwed up when they quit making the good food they used to! read more
