Just wondering why the hostess on 2/16/25 evening was upset that I politely declined after being asked if I wanted to sit at the bar. My friend and I are both sober and do not particularly want to be sitting near the bar but when I declined she aggressively said , "yeah well that's all we have". We asked how long the wait was to the other host, he said about 20 min -which would have been fine for us. However the attitude presented by the young hostess was unacceptable. I live around the area and I haven't been to Chili's in awhile so I decided to give it a shot and have a beer and order some food. The parking is vast since it's located in the mall area and the business is not hard to find since it's right there in the corner. Once I arrived I was greeted and then the hostess recommended I sit at the bar area since it was just me. I sat near the bar area and waited for my waitress and looked over the menu. Once the waitress came I ordered a beer and was about to order my food but she just walked away. I was a little shocked but fine. As I saw her pour my beer I noticed she was also running the bar. So my beer was just sitting there under the tap while I waited. I contemplated to just get up and grab it since it was just sitting there, but no. After waiting a while she finally came and I placed my order of appetizers and my burger. I later received my food. The presentation of the food was not too great but it was Chili's so I didn't care to much about that. The heat was good and cleanliness of the restaurant was decent. We stopped in on a Saturday afternoon, we had about a 15 minute wait. We were seated and the restaurant did not look that busy. Our orders were take and was served in about 15 minutes. I frequent this Chilis location in Otay Ranch Mall often and would usually score it 4 stars. This last visit, May 27 2023, I left slightly disappointed with the service and the food. My party of six was greeted promptly and escorted to our table within 10 minutes; wait was minimal due to the restaurant only being 3/4 full. The waiter greeted us and in short order served us with our drinks, Chips and Salsa appetizer, and took our orders. After that is when the service fell off. As the place filled to capacity I noticed only two waiters tending to the section I was in. Leaving me feeling they were overburdened. We received our orders sporadically many minutes apart, there were missing items, extra items and items omitted from not being entered on our Order slip correctly. They became forgetful and required constant reminding as I worked to get our order corrected, and for some special requests. It got to the point where I just gave in due to us nearing the end of our meals. My Ribeye steak was thin, overcooked and not as warm as I would have liked it. My Grandson ordered the same Ribeye order as I but gave my Broccoli to him because the waiter erroneously entered "no Broccoli and Mashed Potatoes", and in its place, "2 orders of "Loaded mash potato soup". My granddaughter received dry and undercooked Mac and Cheese which we promptly requested it to be replaced with a kids Chicken Tender meal, in which we later requested it for "to go" after not receiving it in a timely manner, as we all had reached the end of our meal. There were other minor problems which I won't go over. As bad as this latest visit to this Chilis I will give it another try due to the many favorable experiences I've had in the past. read more

Not planning on coming back. Bad experiences during last two visits... first with curbside pickup. They took forever after I checked in so I called to follow up. They finally brought the food out, but if I didn't call, I'd probably just be sitting, waiting... Second visit was on 05.06. We were seated right away, but food was pretty bad that evening - fries and ribs were very salty, pasta was cold, quesadilla was cold and hard, and burger was burnt (as in charred black). As for service, a few tips for Max: 1) cutting off a customer when ordering is rude 2) when telling a customer you're out of something, it would have been nice if you asked, would you like x instead? Not oh we're out of this, are you okay with that? Again, comes off as a little rude. 3) smiling and being friendly wouldn't hurt I can go on, but I'll leave it short and simple. Food was bad, service not much better. I'm not the confrontational type, but I do regret not speaking up while there and do regret tipping what I did. Mainly because it was raining and I didn't want to change out of my hoodie and I was also really wanting a margarita. So off to Chili's we went. Let me start off by saying staff was great, friendly, etc etc no complaints there. I will give the hostess, our waitress 10 stars. The menu has changed, and what we ordered was not good at all!! It was so bad, all we ate were the fries and that was it! We didn't want to be those people and complain but we did not eat our entrees. It tasted to the equivalent of a $1.99 TV dinner our bill was $50+ and def not worth it. So we pretty much ended up paying over $50 for a $5 margarita, a coke & a few fries.
