Not bad at all. I see quite a few negative reviews about service, but I didn't have any issues. Although, I also came in with a party of 11 shortly after they opened. So not only did they have to pay attention to us, but they could also focus on accommodating us. The coffee cup is a bit small and cute. I did get several refills, so the size wasn't an issue. I just got a country skillet. It comes with gravy by default, which does a lot to keep it from feeling too cloying or dry. I think that's somewhat common with skillets, especially when it has a lot of potato, which this one does as well. A lot of the other items look good also. read more

First few visits were delightful and service was great during the week and the smaller brunch menu was perfect Came with my family on a Sunday and wow I am embarrassed I recommended this spot. A simple request which I have ordered multiple times with no issues and when my order came incorrect mentioned it to the server she apologized and took the plate back - that's where the service ended Cook sends the plate back sayings it's fine I am wrong. Even though its visibly wrong and first bite immediately had the bell pepper I asked to be removed She argued that it was cilantro to my husband ignoring me talking about me that "maybe she doesn't know the difference it's Serrano or cilantro" no offer to remake it or anything standing firm I don't know what cilantro is I said I don't want to argue my husband took the plate and clearly didn't enjoy it it was not as described on the menu. Server ( I wish I caught her name she transferred us to another server as soon as the check was ready ) She came back and confirmed with her boss it was not cooked how it was supposed to be. Then transferred us and walked away My mind is blown at the lack of accountability and I was hoping the other reviews were once offs but it seems to be common to avoid comping a meal to refiring a ticket. I gave two stars for the following: Good: I got sat down quickly The waitress and waiters were very attentive and right away came to ask for something to drink Very friendly and professional customer service Bad: If I can give zero stars, I would. The foo food and drink was too commercialized and lacked taste and flavor. The breakfast I got it was a simple breakfast two eggs, a biscuit, hashbrowns, and hot mocha then later a coffee. All I can say was there was no flavor in anything I ate. I felt like I was eating bland crackers. The only thing that gave it flavor was the Tapatio, ketchup, and the strawberry jam. I've never tasted anything that was so bad and bland. They really need to change that. Needless to say, I assumed the mocha would help, but it did not. It literally tasted like water and cheap chocolate syrup. It was horrible. Then I asked if I could trade the mocha to a coffee and have it to go. Unfortunately the coffee tasted like burnt coffee, no matter how much cream and sugar I put in, it would not change the taste. I even still had an aftertaste after I threw away the coffee on my way home. I have to say that the price they charged for this commercial breakfast, mocha, and coffee - from what I have experience, it was priced too high for very poor quality of food and drink. My wife's "crispy bacon on the side" that she special ordered, she said it seemed like it'd been under the light in the window just sitting there for a while. The hollandaise looked... weird. I'm no cook. Curdled? Like when I fail at Thanksgiving gravy. XD I guess it tasted all right. The orange juice was good. Hard to mess that up. Oh, and the bacon was $7+. Breakfast overall was maybe $70 for the two of us? For an experience like that, this was the first time in decades I didn't tip. Oh, and the women's bathroom was not clean. They DO NOT honor it, they don't look at it or have don't have it for their restaurant, according to the hostess. But it's on their website. I put my name on waitlist for 4 people just to be told that. We were on a schedule and had to get going, hence why I put my name on their online waitlist. We waited about 10-15 mins past our scheduled time to be seated. Thankfully we were done and able to make our other commitments, but some may not be so lucky. So just be aware of that. A coworker and I took one of our favorite guests out to breakfast. We bragged out how she was going to LOVE broken yolk! The service , food and the mimosa flights were top tier. We arrived to the front and interrupted 4 hostesses gossiping and lounging in the front of the register. We asked if we would be able to be seated and we received 'eye rolls'. We then get escorted to our booth and were patiently waiting to order. We start by ordering coffee and getting 2 mimosa flights. While waiting patiently , a server had dropped their stack of food right in front of our booth. Broken glass shattered and flew and hit not only myself but the Birthday Girl. None of the staff asked if we were okay and just went on with their tasks. Birthday found bits of broken glass in her coffee so she asked if she could swap it for a new glass. We then move on to the food. We ordered an omelette , a New York steak and an All American Breakfast. We also ordered crepes to share. We received our food 25 mins later and the food was extremely COLD and some of the orders were completely wrong. We do not blame the server as she was sweet and helpful. After we had finished we requested to speak to the manager. We explained our concerns and informed Douglas the manager of our terrible experience and especially getting hit with broken glass. Douglas shows his concern by giving us a measly 15% discount.. definitely a slap in the face. We will definitely not be going back to Broken Yolk at Plaza Bonita... The Rancho location and the Santee locations have always been good to us and wish we would have taken the birthday girl to those locations instead of the run down, disrespectful place as the Plaza Bonita location. The service was ok. our order took a while to arrive, even though the place only had a few tables occupied when we got there. Our server was considerate, he even closed the double door multiple times that opens to the patio. When the other staff members just passed by the door. It was a bit chilly, had to keep my jacket on. Our server is good, checked up on us quite a few times, refilled that coffee cup. Although, forgot my son's ice coffee, but we managed to flag him down. Given at that time, the place was already full. ambiance was casual dining with indoor and outdoor seating, with booths and standard seating. Place also has high chair and table that can accommodate wheelchair. They also can easily accommodate large parties. When we got our bill, service fee/ surcharge were already included. The restroom was clean, but I'm not sure what it is with the seat covers. They're so thin that they're almost useless. Ended up using more them, defeats the purpose of saving / using less of it, less likely to cause problem like a clogged up toilet. As for the food, it was "okay." Nothing really stood out. Lots of parking availability, since the mall was still closed. Xtra treat today: right across the parking lot, you'll find the mobile blood bank parked in front of the donation container. If you can donate blood, they're handling Broken Yolk gift cards and long-sleeved shirts. Isn't that amazing? I went to the Broken Yolk in Chula Vista. Normally it's a great experience. But this time what a disappointment. My crape was clearly pre-made and sloppy microwaved. The meal was lukewarm. Every time I've ordered in the past you could tell it was made fresh and not microwaved. Please don't go down this path of pre-making food and "warming it up" to turn tables faster. This may work for a bit but ultimately customers will leave. I'll give you another shot in the next week or so... if it's microwave...I'm out!! read more

No toilet paper in the bathroom, the server skipped over some of us when it came to ordering drink and the food and drinks were all together disappointing. Oh boy. Up front, these two stars are mainly for our server, Eduardo, who worked his ass off with a smile despite the busy restaurant, and the cooks in the back. We got there at opening before it got really busy. I feel so sorry for the crowd of people waiting to get in while we were there, because as bad as it was for us, it was undoubtedly worse for them during an even busier time. Ouch. Yes, it was mother's day breakfast. Understandable that everyone was swamped, I know--I have been there myself for years in food service. But the service we received overall was ABYSMAL. Our busser, Jesus, was especially horrid. He seemed to think that holding a tray full of water out for our table for us to grab in a free-for-all rather than handing them out was acceptable. When my mom--you know, on mother's day--asked for creamer for her coffee, Jesus dismissively pointed to the other end of the table at the syrup and hot sauce. Okay, what the f--k? Luckily someone else provided it for us. Not only that but he was so grouchy, so rude, so mean. I try to be patient because again, I know how it is, but that's plainly unacceptable. He looked at us the entire time like we were shit on his non-slip shoes. Food was fine, thank the cooks for that. They were on top of it and I commend them for not rushing out sloppy food despite the breakfast rush. At the end of our meal, we needed a couple of bags for our to-go boxes. Asked the gals at the host box giving out their mobile orders (in bags, of course) if we could have a bag. They suddenly said they did not know where to get bags. O... okay???????? You were literally just handing out mobile orders IN BAGS... but fine. We asked Jesus, and Christ (forgive the pun and the lord's name in vain), he was just as useless as ever, hitting us with that "I don't know, in the back?" action and walking away. I think we had to ask at least 4 people for bags. In the end, thanks Eduardo for taking the time to find us some bags. I don't know if there was a portal to Bag Narnia behind the kitchen that no one else was willing to journey through, but you would have imagined so with how many people didn't know where bags were, or just, I suspect, didn't want to. For a place that specializes in breakfast and brunch, it's incredible that they were unprepared for an inevitable mother's day breakfast rush. So many employees who never learned that "I don't know" should ideally be followed up with "but let me find out for you!" Eduardo did his best to apologize for our woes, and I don't blame him, because he TRIED. I didn't even mention the constant fire alarm blaring like an air raid siren in the mall right behind us for half our time there. Never come here unless you too are willing to quest to Bag Narnia. Never disappointed at any of their locations! Excellent customer service every time at any location! I really like this one is in the mall because parking was easy to find and there wasn't a long wait time. Also I signed up on yelps waitlist so all I had to do was walk in. I always order their chilaquiles because honestly they're the best! Every time I bite into my plate it feels like the first time and my mouth just melts from how good they are. My hubby had the spicy chicken burger - he wasn't a fan. The mimosa flight is great to share with someone (unless you really want to catch a buzz on your own lol) Great location and exceptional customer service! Coming back for sure! One star less bc the service was not great our waiter disappeared n my guest has to walk all the at up to the boat stand and ask for our serve bd we were ready to order.
