My wife and daughter went to Chili's for lunch, when I received my hamburger it was burnt to crisp. I asked the receptionist if she could get my waiter (the receptionist very polite) she went to get the waiter but returned to ask if there was a problem. Honestly I've tried a lot of queso cheese dip and this is by far the best. It was definitely in the oven with a browned cheesy top like a creme brulé , and it had some Pico and guacamole on top. It may not sound like much but a good first impression is so important and it's a great indicator for the rest of the meal. My partner had the smokehouse burger and I had the mango Chile chicken and they were both so delicious and the waiters were so wonderful and attentive. I work for a senior living facility and we occasionally have large orders (10 or more) to take back to our residents. This Chili's location is awesome and make the entire transaction really smooth! They take our order by phone and help us by writing down the room numbers so we don't have a hard time delivering to our residents. As well as, paying in person is super easy and we do it one by one and ensure we have the correct change and receipts for our residents. I had forgotten about the Chili's near where I live up until my recent visit for my boyfriend's mom's birthday. The only thing about it that I remembered was that the food wasn't very memorable. As we entered, we were greeted by the manager (I'm assuming he was because he was dressed differently than the rest of the staff and had a headset sort of thing connected to his radio...) He was very friendly, with a ginormous smile on his face. We were guided to our seats quickly, but the hostess seemed as if she was lost. Right when the manager handed her the menus to seat us, her face was nothing but confusion. When we started following her, she kept looking around to see if there was available seating. It was somewhat like an obstacle because when she finally found a table for us, we had to squeeze our way through. The waitress at the table next to the one we were to be seated at had her mini pull-out stand/table where she had all of the dishes set up/laid out to hand to each person. I know that's their job to do that, and it's an easier way to pass out the food, but the waitress was completely in the center of the walkway. After being seated at an uncomfortable table--their chairs hurt my back--we decided to go on the other side of Chili's to eat for the happy hour deals. By the way, if it's happy hour, to get the specials and deals for drinks and appetizers, you must sit on the left side of the restaurant where the TVs and bar are. We got up and walked to the other side of Chili's where we told the gentleman I'm assuming to be the manager that we wanted to change tables. He offered to have the only available booth cleared for us, so we stood by as he personally cleaned it. As he went to the back to get spray for the tables, a woman by her lonesome took the liberty to seat herself at the booth that we were waiting for. Unbelievable. Thankfully, he came out and told her the table was for us, then continued to spray it clean. He told us we were nice for not kicking her out and we all just giggled. After all the seating arrangements and what not, we were finally situated. Each of us ordered our drinks, and while we were waiting, we got our chips and dip. The chips were very salty! Then 5 minutes after, our appetizer came out. The appetizers were very temperature hot to a point where it hurt to bite into, so I wish we would've been warned. I did appreciate how our waitress noticed the "Happy Birthday" pin on my boyfriend's mom's shirt, though. She told us she'd bring ice cream out and have everyone sing happy birthday. Just as we were finishing the appetizers, our main dishes came out. Everything was quick! My boyfriend asked for his steak to be medium, and in the menu itself it mentions something along the lines of "hints of pink, no traces of red". His steak did look like it had red, and a lot of it, but he still ate it. My pasta was good, and I believe everyone else was satisfied with their food. The serving of fries with their sandwiches was a little small, and their broccoli was pretty salty, but for the most part, it was good. Presentation of food isn't their strong suit. Since you don't have to wait for the bill because there is a machine on the table where you can slide your card to pay, it wasn't much of a hassle. The only thing was that we waited almost 10 minutes after paying for the waitress to bring out the birthday treat. At first, we honestly thought she forgot. Glad she didn't! After singing, we were finished. All we had to do was eat the ice cream--which was delicious! I don't remember the last time I've been here, and I don't know when the next time I'll visit will be. My friend, Nancy, and I, had lunch last Friday at Chili's, Otay Ranch Town Center. Our server, Kyle, was great. He was polite, friendly and treated us with the perfect amount of attentiveness. The soup was good but definitely saltier than the same soup I get at the Rancho Del Rey Chili's location. For entrees we got the Just Bacon Burger and the Bacon Ranch Quesadillas. I noticed that the burger was a bit smaller than the one at the RDR location and that the quesadillas didn't come with sour cream like they do at RDR. That doesn't really matter because there was plenty of food; I guess I'm just pointing out the inconsistency between locations. Worst food experience I've had this entire year. Ordered a medium rare steak and it came out completely rare. I've worked in the food industry before so I hate having to ask the server to take the food back. Don't get me wrong, server was an absolute sweetheart and took back the food but I was baffled when she brought the steak back and I saw that my already cut up steak was simply put back on the grill after I touched it and put back on my plate....I'm sure that's a health hazard. Me and my friend have always loved this restaurant and it's been our go-to for many years but today the service was tremendously bad. We were ignored and given no refills and no one would come to us to ask if we needed anything else. It seemed that it was a struggle to flag anyone down and the restaurant was not busy in the slightest. Our server was working in the bar and had his back turned towards us the majority of the time and didn't bother acknowledging us or asking if we needed refills and it took like 15 minutes to get someone to give us a to-go box. We put in a dessert order and they forgot about it so we had to once again, flag someone down to get their attention and tell them about our dessert. The dessert comes out and it came with the smallest, half assed scoop of ice cream. We asked our waiter once again about the waters because it seemed he forgot, and he annoyingly blames the other server (who was not ours btw, but at least did ask if we needed something else) for not running our waters for him. It seemed like the bartender was just ignoring us and would not even look our direction after the food came out. I am not one to complain about restaurants because I am in the restaurant industry myself, but todays service was just really slow and lacking. I did appreciate getting a new order in after finding a long strand of hair breaded into my chicken and having a discount. However, the hair in my food didn't upset me nearly as much as the service did today. However we left a tip despite the bad service because I know how it's like in this industry. Loaded baked potato soup (see pic): topped with applewood smoked bacon, cheddar and green onions, most excellent, reasonable price, try it!! Beef Fajitas served with warm tortillas, house-made pico de gallo, cheese, guacamole, sour cream, rice and black beans (see pic): comes our sizzling on an individual grill plate, steam rising, tasty, delicious, recommended. I live across the street from this location, and come here frequently with my family. Tonight, I had the pleasure of being served by William. He was on top of everything, without having to be asked. Very knowledgeable of the menu, from the drinks and entrees, to the desserts. He made some great suggestions, and made several stops at our table to ensure we were comfortable. Even with a busy section, he still found time to make us feel like we were his only customers. He went the extra mile, and really made our visit amazing. Like I said, I come here a lot, but this visit stood out but far. I myself, have been serving for 12 years, and manage a large chain restaurant myself. I know what to watch for when dining out. William is a keeper, for sure. This Chili's restaurant is hit or miss and that's why I'm giving it 3 stars. Sometimes the service is great. They refill our beverages quickly and the food comes out fresh and hot. Other times we can be waiting 10 minutes for them to just take our order and it seems like nobody is waiting on us. I guess it all depends on the time of day you go there because I know another Chili's location that always has a long wait time during peak business hours. I've had good and bad experiences here so your mileage may vary. The food is generally consistent and I always enjoy it. I joined the Chili's club so I get free points and I've already claimed a free dessert and kids meal. I'm not the type of person that would go to chain restaurants should I choose where to eat, but my family's been going to this place for years. They have good deals on the appetizers, especially the $10 for 3 appetizers (Triple Dipper). The appetizers can get you full very easily, especially if you order several. Their best appetizers are the sliders, the southwest egg rolls and the buffalo wings. They also have their own dipping sauces, which I think are at the least bleu cheese and ranch (and another one that's good for the eggrolls, I forgot). Surprisingly, the sauces go well with all three. Their Texas cheese fries are a bit on the dry side, especially if you get it to go. Their Dinner for Two for $20 is all right, since it consists of a shared appetizer, two entrees and a shared dessert. Their pasta is full of cheese and not for the light stomach. I like the regular (not BBQ) rub on their ribs, which I think is a plain salt and pepper, but the ribs themselves are not fat and full of meat. My dad can make better ribs like Chilis and select a fatter rib. They skimp out on the rice, but the rice is flavorful. My favorite dish is their best-selling dessert, the Molten Chocolate Cake. Deconstructing the cake reveals that it's a cake with a hole cut out for the hot fudge, topped with ice cream and a syrup and a chocolate syrup shell that solidifies upon the cold. Now that I know how to make it, for the same amount I would spend on one, I can make 6 cakes. Every now and then they'll post a deal on their website or on Facebook, so at the least it gives me an excuse to go, but usually their free appetizer/dessert would require you to buy an entree, which sucks because their entrees are the worst part about the food there! read more
