We hadn't been to Chili's on Mesa since a bit before the pandemic, and sadly, it is one of the many local restaurants that is struggling to get back to business. Upon being seated, the manager sat us in a booth right next to the noisy kitchen. I asked her if we could get a booth by the window, and she said to go ahead and seat ourselves! We moved to a booth by a window, where the seat was ripped, and the walls were dingy and very dirty! I tried to pull the chain to open the blind, but it was broken. The waitress was the only server in the entire restaurant! Luckily, it was not too busy, yet. We ordered shrimp and pasta, grilled chicken salad, and a bowl of chili. The salad was drenched in dressing, and I was famished, but sadly, I could not finish it. It was just too soupy. The waitress was wonderful! She was a very good server. It will be a long time if we ever return. Hopefully, they can get back on their feet sooner rather than later. read more

Terrible experience in only a matter of seconds. I came in with my ESA and was immediately met with dissent and disrespect. The manager argued with me at the front door in front of staff and other guests sitting in the bar area about whether or not I was allowed to have my legal ESA with me and what she supposed to do for me, which is actually against the law. I did end up telling him she was for psychiatric support as prescribed by a licensed psychiatrist. To which he totally dismissed and made me feel really self conscious about and anxious, stirring up an anxious episode. He was super rude about the whole thing, didn't even introduce himself. Exceptionally unprofessional and highly disrespectful to myself and my ESA, not to mention ADA laws and the Civil Rights Act. Highly disappointed in this restaurant,specifically this location and "manager," never had an experience like this at any other restaurant in El Paso. Will certainly not be back. The government infringing on our constitutional rights is more than enough for me, don't need this kind of treatment from a nasty manager from a Chilis no less. read more

Chili's--either you love them or hate them. I always have liked this chain since 1980's. Now, I've noticed there had been certain regional differences or more accurately menu changes and transformations over time. Chili's generally offer very decent salads. My favorite is Quesadilla Explosion. With very good amount of grilled chicken and simple quesadillas, this salad makes a very filling meal. Their complimentary (if you are a member of their reward club that you can join for free, and if you meet their criteria--frequency of your visit of this chain) chips and salsa with guac or queso is a very formidable offer. Current offer of 3 for $10 deal is a very good deal (now with 6 oz steak) for more budget-conscious folks. As for me I usually drink water and get a complimentary chips and salsa, so I'd opt for something else on the menu. Service really depends on which restaurant and who your server might be. I get a distinct impression that this chain is weak on their customer service training, thus significantly varies from individual to individual. I've had an excellent, friendly and very courteous ones to an outright rude ones. Menu selection is very enormous, but they typically do well with protein especially burgers and ribs. Aforementioned selections of salads are also good. If you are a type of person who avoids chain restaurants, you might want to give Chili's a try! You might be pleasantly surprised. read more

I really need to make good food choices during the holidays so I ordered the wonderful grass-fed sunrise burger. The Patti was topped with bacon, pepper Jack cheese, a cage free fried egg and it sat on a layer of lettuce, red onions and a slice of tomato. I asked for the bun to be left off and the waitress instinctively asked if I wanted to swap the fries for broccoli!!! This brought a smile to my face! The burger tastes sooo good- yes, the grass- fed beef makes a difference. Soooo...since I am racking up Plenti Ponts here, I ordered the Salmon with broccoli...and a side of broccoli to go for lunch tomorrow. I feel full, satisfied and happy that I made great meal choices. Chili's is my 'I'm not cooking tonight, but I'm also not changing out of these sweatpants and oversized T' go-to. Sure a lot of people come dressed in business casual, but I like to believe it's because they don't know any better (and by better I mean that there are limitless options to eat when you're semi-presentable). Honestly, Chili's is the Wal-Mart of restaurants. In a good way. I've ordered to-go here numerous times, but I recently decided to dine-in after my hunger consumed me and I wasn't willing to wait, make the drive there, and drive back before being able to take a single bite. Maybe it's just me, but I felt like dine-in portions were bigger too. We came in about an hour til closing, but both the hostess and waitress were still accommodating and pleasant. For some reason our waitress' tables were scattered, but she did a great job checking on each table and bringing out new drinks before even asked. Chili's is always adding (and taking away) dishes and I noticed some of the new items have a build-it-yourself aspect like the new versions of the guac and fajitas. It's an ingenious idea, lessen the word load of the cooks down to simple prep work and really allow the customer to customize their own food. We did end up getting guac, but we got the one that is already prepared and I was surprised to see the portion was much larger than I'd had previously. Hey, I'm not complaining though. The chips! Oh my lanta they are so fricken good. The chips are the reason I'm so in love with Chili's. Thin and perfectly salted. I would marry any person who bought me a endless supply of these. The salsa that comes with the guac has always had a weird place in my heart. It's extremely watery, but somehow it just pairs with the guac so well. On to my main course. I was so sad when the other fajitas disappeared (they were ridiculously spicy and came with a side of rice and even spicier beans) so I wanted to see how they stacked up. They're better. The heat is dialed way back and the amount of sides really let's you control how hot it becomes. You have the option to pick two different kinds of fajitas (steak, pork, or shrimp), but I just doubled up on the shrimp. The fajitas before only ever had 3-4 pieces of shrimp, but this came with a large amount (so much so that I could really load them up to the point that it was hard to close and I still had shrimp to spare). The toppings included sour cream, salsa, guac, red onions, cheese, and pico de gallo. I asked for extra cheese because that's just the way I roll. Overall, loved the fajitas and the seasoning on the shrimp was on point. Chili's just never disappoints me, but I think dine-in is the better option. read more

What else do you eat as soon as you get back into Texas besides bbq ??? Rudy's was my choice but I got out voted. My daughter and I split the full rack of dry rub baby backs with double fries. They were pretty good, a little dry, but they did fall off the bone and they hit the spot. Everyone loved their food. Mrs. Texas had a turkey club, my granddaughter had grilled cheese and my other granddaughter had mac n cheese. We were seated quickly by a very friendly hostess and our waitress was very friendly as well. All in all it was a very good experience. read more

I came for the three for me deal with my wife. I got the steak with chips and salsa and a mango tea. She got an old timer burger and a Cesar salad with ranch. The salad was her size but it seemed small to me. Especially compared to when I have a giant plate of chips and salsa to compare with. Once the entrees arrived the story flipped. Her bigger was twice the size of my steak. Which is fair but I did stay hungry. Food was cooked well. Excellent service. Aesthetic is modern. I just feel the menu could be a bit less confusing. Also my mango tea had all the syrup at the bottom which made for an unpleasant experience when drinking. We also ordered dessert but the wait time exceeded another half hour. read more

Of course I checked their reviews on YELP, just out of habit and was surprised by the low star rating; but that did not deter us from going and on the way home I started thinking that the naysayers were being too tough. Tale of to restaurants last week went to Chili's with my wife. We were warmly greater by Frances the hostess. She seated us and told us our server would be right with us. Our server Sarah was cheerful, attentive and always there when we needed her but not hovering over us. Food was good and for 10$ well worth it. Flash forward to yesterday. Applebees Redd road, the highlight was the manager I believe her name was Judy. Because of her would return. Food was more expensive and quality maybe little less. I ordered curbside as I often do. It was to be ready at 2:45. I followed the directions of checking in and entering my parking slit number. 2:45 came and went and finally I went inside at almost 3:00 & was told it's ready and sitting on some racks inside the door. I picked it up and when I got home, there were no fries included with my meal as there were supposed to have been. This has never happened before. Someone has always brought my meal out to the car. My meal has always been complete. I am a rewards member, but I truly think I will be passing on ordering from this location again. read more

I usually stop here when I want ribs. I PREFERRED the "old style", but they have substituted for "Texas style" - which is a fancy of way of advertising they are very fatty, so I may be looking for an alternative!! I happened to have an award for queso, and decided to try it. The picture on my rewards email showed a skilled with yellow queso topped by pico de gallo, which looked appetizing. What I GOT was a skillet filled with a sloppy brown mess resembling diarrhea, and tasted like a taco seasoning packet. Quite disappointing. We had a part of 4 that came in at about 9:10. Three different people told us we needed to hurry and place our order as the kitchen was closing. Mind you they don't close until 10. We were then told everything they were out of - coffee, bone in wings, chili... The list goes on. We asked for table side guacamole which resulted in a bowl of avocados already smashed with the sides to mix in. :-( We received our food and one of the orders was wrong. We were then argued with about if it were wrong or not. Overall poor experience. Some of the food was good but definitely colored by the experience. read more

This has to be the worst eating experience of my life. What happened to the old Chili's we used to know and love? Did the company simply throw in the towel and give up? We ordered chicken fajitas. What we received looked similar only there was ZERO flavor. That's what happens when you wrap a tortilla around cardboard. You might think fajitas is a safe go-to however the only safe item off the menu now is their chips and salsa. Save your money and time. This is not a review about the food. Which is well very Chili's. It is not about the restaurant which looks like every other Chili's that I have been to including the one at Ramstein Air Force Base in Germany. This review is about the service. I wanted to take the time to give a shout out to the employees at this particular Chili's. This is the number one place I go if I want a have drink and snack, hang out with friends or just take the night off. The one reason why is because of the staff. Camerson, daytime bartender is amazing and friendly. Wesley, evening bartender, is sociable and quick. Both of these gentlemen are exceptional bartenders. If they are ever slow getting to your order it is not because they are lazy or ignoring you it is because they are busy. They work hard and quickly. The evening manager that I have encountered is a wonderfully nice man who took the time on one occasion to help out a man in need. The waitresses are always friendly and perfectly comfortable with just talking to you. Even if it is not about what you are ordering or the restaurant. Plus they never have a problem making changes to a dish to make your super picky children happy. This is the place I go where to get dinner and not feel like my kids need to use all their manners and I have to dress up. This is the place I go when I want to eat and feel at home. Really good food but customer service was an issue the last time I was here. I tried to call in my order to the restaurant but could not get through after being put on hold twice , last time I clocked it It was eight minutes. Verified by manager when i walked over to the restaurant with my cell phone still on hold! Now i will give kudos on the next part is that they were super apologetic and took my order and had it out in a jiffy. He also threw in a free beverage and free desert which was very kind. Horrible service!! I'm here right now. Ordered a flatbread and a drink over 30 minutes ago and I have not seen my server since!!! Do not come here if you want good service. I sure hope the food is so good it melts in my mouth from looking at it.... highly doubt it but I can wish! :( Update..... had to ask for the manager when we hit the 46 minute mark of no service and when the food finally came, it was awful! Burned chipotle chicken flatbread ... service remained horrible but the manager was polite, apologized and comptd the meal. Our dinner and transaction was forgettable. I would say the service was 2 stars and the food 3 stars so let's say 2.5 overall. I'm rounding up to three stars. As I'm writing this, I'm suffering from major heartburn. The service was extremely mediocre. The waiter ignored us more than once and wasn't friendly. In his defense, it was a busy night. Alex had a major attitude problem. I asked him about one of the dishes. He seemed very annoyed by this. All I asked was if the chili bowl was spicy. He acted as if I was nuts for asking him this. I didn't think it was but just in case...I asked. Geez! I also asked for no onions in it. This also seemed to piss him off. He kept passing by our booth without asking if we needed anything else or how our meal was. My boyfriend asked him for water and he didn't come through. He said yes he would bring him some but he never did. He kept passing us but no water for him. I almost stopped him but we just got up and left because we got tired of him and his attitude. I was also out of tea and guess what? I didn't get a refill either. Surprise surprise! I wasn't asked if I needed one. Needless to say, his tip was pretty low. A low tip for terrible service. I don't normally give 2 stars, for the record the food was excellent, the service however was lacking unfortunately. 5 stars for food. Service was unfortunately not the greatest, BUT the Hostess was very nice, and friendly. I work in the restaurant industry, so I know what goes on behind the scenes how server sections might be made up. When I went it was towards around 8:30, I know coming in late is an annoyance for servers. So the server greeted us in a sort of pissed off mood, good way to start out the dining experience. When I ordered my Fajitas I wanted to add the queso that they offer on the fajita menu for a dollar more. Well the server thought I was referring to the queso with the beef and beans dip with chips, that is not what I wanted, but the individual insisted we only have that and a spinach queso, I told the person I just wanted the white queso on top of the steak, thats what I got last time. Well I ended up getting what the person insisted thinking that was going to come on the steak...it came out 5 minutes later with my chips and salsa. The concern I have is the person does not know the whole menu particularly that when people ask to add the dollar more queso on the fajitas, it should register, it seemed they didn't know that was on the menu as an added option. I also noticed they rotate tables, which some restaurants do, but sometimes that can get chaotic when servers are not communicating, or perhaps a undesirable table sits down, and no one wants to wait on them...it happens, so then they are just waiting, and waiting to be greeted. They seemed to be taking tables all over the place ,and were short staffed, maybe that was a factor for the service. I ended up using the tablet to close out my check, because we never saw the server again after checking up on our meal, when we were close to being done. Food was great but I think the person was new, and not very attentive, I'll be back though, I really like Chilis food. read more

I wasn't a fan of Chili's to begin with and this experience just really sealed the deal. Bad enough for me to write my first Yelp review (lol). First, we asked for chips and queso. They brought out what looked like hotdog chili. Then, I ordered a burger. It was super greasy and the cook left a film on my meat. They brought me a new one but failed to do anything for the inconvenience. At Least take my beverage off the bill. Anything. But they didn't.
