I can honestly say that in the past 10 years, this restaurant has really taken a nose dive, like almost all of these chain stores. We go once in a while and last night decided to try again. I had forgotten my rule of only ordering the ribs, which are decent, but I didn't. I ordered shrimp tacos and a Long Island Iced Tea, and a "white queso dip". The tacos were awful, I couldn't even eat one. They put sweet cole slaw in them, and the cheapest possible ingredients were used for all of our food. The $8-9 drink had almost no alcohol in it, could have served it as virgin! and the fake cheese dip was also gross, to go along with the paper thin "tortilla chips" to be served with garbage "salsa". As if the bad food weren't enough, the service was crap as well. I guess since they have those dump kiosk style payment screens they figure they can basically ignore you once they've dumped the food at the table. Most restaurants charging close to $15 a plate might come over and notice I wasn't eating my food and asked if there was a problem, nope. We hardly saw our waiter once we had the food. The berry alcohol drink was good. The salmon was crispy on edges but moist enough inside. The broccoli was good. The rice was a little stale and dry. They forgot to bring my butter on the side ‍. When my youngest wants steak, we come here. We're always greeted quickly and friendly. The 2 for deals are awesome. It's quick and the menue and options are kinda average but the end result is far and above average. I've yet to send a steak back. The local Outback can learn from this place. The need to ask for refills isn't an issue because the staff is right on it. It's always clean and the staff is always polite. I've taken my daughter to quite a few steak houses and paid on occasion twice as much for a good steak. This by far is our go back to place. read more

This is the third time we have been at Chilies with another couple. We had the special for $10.00 You get a salad, dinner and dessert for 10 bucks. I had the ribs and ordered the full slap for $6.00 more. The "normal" ribs for 10 dollars are 6 ribs which would have been enough. Believe me when I say it is plenty of food for the price. This is called a "special" so I am not sure how long it will last but they have had it now for weeks. Plenty of parking but can get a little noisy do to wooden floors. My family and I went to Chili's for dinner, and we had a pretty terrible experience as far as customer service and cleanliness. The hostess was polite and helpful but before we sat down our table was dirty had crumbs everywhere and on the seat even after they "wiped" it down. Our waiter greeted us carelessly and tossed our forks, straws, and napkins on the table right in front of us, rather then setting it down off to the side. We ordered a water and mine had black specs floating around in it and when I got my water replaced there was crusted lettuce on my cup... along with more black specs frozen in the ice. I was pretty annoyed with the service and cleanliness over all. The food was great but I will definitely never return this location. read more

Ray was our waiter. He was outstanding! Prompt, good communication, and personable/friendly. The food tasted good too. My only complaint is there was a lot of fat on my husband's steak. Chilli's should not serve a steak by weight if there's this much fat on it. We will steer clear of that menu item. read more

We had a great time here today! After a stressful morning, we stopped in for lunch. This was our 2nd visit to this location. This time we sat in the bar area to watch some baseball. It's quite tight in the bar, tables are quite close in there. Anyhow, Nick was our bartender/server and let me just say... he is AWESOME! He was on spot on! It has been awhile since I have been to Chili's. If this trip is any indication of how they are now, they have gone way down hill. My wife and I were there for a late lunch. They were busy which may have been why the service was so slow. We entered and stood there for some time before anybody can to seat us. We got the quaso. It did not seem to have much beef in it. I got the standard Texas baby back rids. They were very meaty but also very fatty. The fries were limp and only warm. It took forever to get drinks refilled. Out of every restaraunt I have ever been to I will be back to this one FOR SURE. Last night my husband daughter and I went in for dinner. At first we were slow to be greeted but as soon as we were seated our server Dennis was on top of everything he took our drink order and was back in about five minutes with everything. He then asked if we needed more time, we didn't ordered our appetizer and food and he asked if we wanted the kids meal out with appetizer. We had great service throughout the night an it was by far the best service we have ever recieved. We were seated next to the kitchen and were able to watch the way Dennis interacted with others and it was amazing. He walked with a purpose. He did various other jobs instea of just taking orders and bringing food. He was constantly checking on ours as well as others orders and well being. I usually like Chili's. Their fajitas are my favorite but today it was not good. Steak and rice over cooked while the shrimp was undercooked. Pico de gallo did not taste fresh. This review will likely be as long as my wait time here at this Chili's location which was absurdly long for the THIRD TIME of us giving this location another chance. My party of 4 (+1 highchair) took over 30 minutes to be seated - during the end of a rush hour which might could be dismissed as understandable. However, after being seated, it took over 15 minutes to have our drink orders placed and the kids' order & appetizers put in. Another 20 minutes for us to receive any of our initial orders. I, myself, had to get up to locate silverware, straws and napkins for my table. It took over AN HOUR & A HALF from the time we placed our food order to actually get our food. Not only did it take way to long to receive our orders, the food was cold when we received it and we had to box it up to leave because the kids were extremely fussy at this point after waiting over 2 hours. We will definitely not be coming back to this location and highly recommend either going to another Chili's location or to a different restaurant altogether. read more

We hadn't been to Chili's in a while, so decided to go since we had a 50% off one entree. Wow! Hubby ordered the Texas Style Ribs with original sauce. They were the meatiest ribs we've ever seen. He ended up bringing half of them home. I ordered the steak fajitas, which I've had before. They were delicious. Oh! I forgot to mention we ordered the Chicken and Waffles appetizer. So good! Some on yelp people seem to think Chili's is a 5 star fancy restaurant. It's a big food chain that's cheap (what's up $20 dinner for two special!) The atmosphere and food is similar to all the other Chili's restaurants I've been which I personally love the chips + queso followed by the chicken crisper tacos! There wings are not bad either. The only reason I docked a star is because yes, the service can be pretty slow at times but it's not just this location either from my experience. Also, about a year back they did this thing where they would give everyone their bill when the food came out. Really? what a dumb move and I'm glad it didn't last long. Food was excellent but three stars for ridiculously slow and poor service. If the kitchen messes up tickets, then at least make sure drinks are kept full and not empty. If a more complicated drink order is given, be sure to check that it's correct. Next time we will sit at the bar as service seems to be a lot better from the bartenders. read more

We've been eating at the Chili's in Escondido for years and years but after tonight we may never go back. When we go I always get a medium well burger, but the last time it was overcooked - dry and chewy, so this time I told the server that about that and we talked and agreed that MW shoudn't be pink or dry. So what did I get? A medium burger. I really dislike that. I showed the burger and she asked "Too pink?". Yes. She said she'd have them make another one and I said "please just cook this one a little more". Ten minutes later my wife and son had finished their dinners and I'm still waiting. I flagged her down and said "never mind, I don't want it just bring me a check." I was upset and it was evident in my tone of voice. She said to me "You don't have to be rude, it's not my fault." When I said yes it was she replied "Did I cook your burger"? So I asked for the manager. Five minutes later he showed up with another burger. I told him I didn't want it and didn't want to pay for it. He told me I could take it home at no charge. I told him I was really upset, my family had finished eating and I couldn't believe they couldn't even cook a burger right. He replied "the waitress ordered it right the cook just made a mistake." He repeated that I could take it home. Well I didn't want to eat a cold burger and fries at home. I can make my own burger and fries at home and eat them hot. Most surprising and irritating to me is that neither the waitress or manger even apologized. The only agenda for either of them was that that I shouldn't hassle them, and that it really wasn't a big deal. They don't think it's a big deal to cook meat the way I like it and can't be bothered to make a sincere apology for their mistake. read more

Chili's is like your couch, comfortable and relaxing. I've been to other Chili's branches as well and have always had a good time when in this place. Their restaurants are always full but always has room at the bar if you can't wait for regular seating. Great specials on lunch (soup or salad comes with chips and an entree) for about $7! The drink selections are varied enough to keep you happy (beers, margaritas, mixed drinks). Won't search this one out, but will come back when in search of chips, drinks and good times. read more

Came to this place yesterday for my friends b day it was like a good 25 of us and although the wait was long due to it being Friday and also a lot of graduate celebrations our waitress Bryanna (I hope I'm not getting her name wrong) she did an amazing job from the moment we were seated to the moment we left...it amazed me that despite the business of this restaurant last night and the many people she was attending at our table she still made sure to refill our drinks WITHOUT even asking! This server was being extremely rude ...I didn't even bother to learn her name. My boyfriend and I sat down and he decided to order a margarita. She asked for his ID normal of course. And then she proceeds to stare at it for over a minute. Raising it up in the air looking at it like she couldn't see the date . Awkwardly to the point where I have to say is there anything funny looking on the ID??And she doesn't say anything and says she has to bring it to her manager. We wait for like 30 seconds. Until she comes walking back and gives us his ID and apologizes and says she's not used to the real ID California drivers license yet. The burgers here used to be much better. Went after a movie and should have gone to in n out for a burger. Burger was super greasy. I cut it in half to eat and you could squeeze the grease out. the fries were hard like they had been sitting around. Told my waiter about the burger after I ate it and he said they had actually change the meat to a better quality and I told him I don't think so. In the future I don't think I'll be going there for a burger. In N Out has much better quality and tastes much fresher then chilis so called craft burgers read more

Take out is the worst. We love Chilis, usually!! But all I can say about the Escondido take out is don't waste your time and money. There are many other better options near by. We put our order in online and they kindly gave us a time to pick our food up. Arriving on time we waited 40 minutes for our food. The real issue was not the wait but the fact that the manager was useless at best. I felt so sorry for the girl working the counter she was slammed and by herself on a Friday night at 6:30. This Chili's used to be really good but it's really slipping in terms of food quality. Service was great last nite and the El Presidente Margarita was as terrific as always. Those were the only good points. Chili's what have you done to the Oldtimer burger? It was perfect the way it used to be, a nice thick high quality burger on a sturdy sesame seed bun. I loved it and it has always been the main reason I ever choose to eat at Chili's. Now you have turned it into a poor mans version of one of your craft burgers. A much thinner patty, overcooked (when I asked for it medium} on a greasy brioche bun. It was horrible and such a step down from what you had. The fries were old, cold and greasy. In short, the food was just plain bad. If this is Chili's new level of food quality, I won't be back. PLEASE bring the original Oldtimer back. read more

Consistent, friendly, very good service. We have been a fan for many years and I do not remember having a server that I did not appreciate. Management must create a fun working environment because it shows in the staff. We love the Fajitas and request the Mushroom Jack style. Yummy. Our only slight negative....it does get noisy during sporting events on the TV monitors. But that is fun for the fans. read more

This Chili's is really awful. Food has gone downhill while service is consistently BAD! Tried to go last night at 5:45pm. One area of dining room not being used due to understaffing (on a Sunday evening) and multiple other tables empty (some clean, some awaiting clean up from previous customers.) Meanwhile, many groups waiting for tables and hostess advising of a 20-30 minute wait. This is the 3rd strike for this location for us...will not return. Remodel looks nice but everything else remains as bad as ever. We left for another restaurant as did 2-3 other groups while we were there. Apparently, they don't need the business. read more

Went there with a friend and our children at 5:30pm on Monday night. Kitchen was dirty. Kids pizza (frozen/reheated) was burnt and my son would not touch it. My burger (frozen/cooked to gray sawdust) was so greasy my hands were covered in it. How can a chain survive not making fresh food? I could have pulled frozen food out of my freezer and done a better job. Staff was pleasant but not excellent. Average service and gross food does not make me want to come back. PS The reason I am finally writing this review is because this is the second time I have gone here and seen a messy kitchen and had sub par food. Worst fajitas yet ! First the came out and the chicken was still cold , I'm talking bit into and felt the cold on my teeth , then they "claim" they will make a *new order! Nope same old chicken with my teeth marks! The server Grant was the best part , over heard him talking with another server about "looks like we aren't getting tips tonight" damn straight crumb ! 2/12/16. 6:00 pm. Just ordered to go and they did not put in the rice and beans with my order nor did they accomplish the simple task of including salad dressing with my salad order. Called the phone number and tried the manager option 3 times - no answer. Finally called and talked to the to go person and she asked me if I wanted to talk to the manager who would not answer the phone. Aargh! This is after I tipped the to go person at 30%. Obviously, generous tipping has no effect on the quality of service. read more
