I've been a long time customer, but I will never go back to this location. I was ripped off on a Groupon. The terms are very clearly spelled out that I should've only been charged six dollars for the upgrade to a prime rib and my lemonade and they charged me $22.. My family and I had such a wonderful experience at Black Angus! From the moment we walked in, everyone made us feel so welcome. Our waitress, Ellyse, was absolutely amazing. She was kind, attentive, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout our meal. She truly went above and beyond to make our dining experience enjoyable. A special thank you to Manager Cillo, who checked in on us and made sure everything was perfect. It's clear they care about both their customers and their team, and it really shows. They can't hit medium well. Twice this year, I tried out this exact place (got coupon and Groupon). Both times I asked for medium well, they both came out well. To me, medium well still has faint pink inside. Both times, zero pink. All brown. My first visit, the second attempt they gave me was good. On my last visit, the second attempt, was even worse experience. I think they didn't let the meat rest because when I got it and cut it in half, it was perfect color, then in a few minutes, it turned into well done and super dry. That means, it continued cooking and the hot plate they serve it on didn't help. They should have pulled it out at medium temp, let it sit to rest, so by the time it gets to me, it hits that medium well sweet spot, that carryover cooking was considered in their timing. I wouldn't expect that skill from Chili's or Applebee's, but eating at a steakhouse and paying more than double what I'd get at Chili's, I'd expect better skills of hitting the right temp. After a few bites, I had to stop. It was meh in flavor, tough, and dry. I was so disappointed, especially paying extra for the premium cut. The server was so nice so I just let it go. At this point, if they couldn't figure it out on the second attempt, I doubt they'd get it the third time around. As for our sides, the garlic butter broccoli was sad and overcooked soggy. The au gratin was sooo good, though, so that's the positive. Interestingly, when they gave me my second attempt of the steak, they gave me a fresh batch of au gratin and it looked like it was prepared by a completely different restaurant. Not necessarily bad, just inconsistent, hence more interesting than a complain. But the steak and broccoli, definitely no bueno. Which is sad because it's a steakhouse. read more

Took our dad here a couple weeks ago and had a good experience. We got their when they opened and were seated promptly. The host and the bar staff were all very kind as the bar is right near the front door. Our waitress, Bernice, was great. We've had her as our waitress before and she's kind, funny, and gets the orders right which is great! I came here alone for my birthday dinner and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience. When I arrived, the hostess tried to push me to sit at the bar, saying the wait for a table would be over 30 minutes. I chose to wait, and a table was available within 5 minutes, which made that interaction feel unnecessary. I ordered a filet mignon (medium-well) with mushrooms, mashed potatoes, and a salad. The salad arrived first, but the fork was freezing cold, as if it had been stored in the refrigerator along with the salad, which was unpleasant. I then waited over 30 minutes for my steak. When it finally arrived, the steak was completely rare instead of medium-well, and both the steak and mashed potatoes were cold and dried out. To make matters worse, the waiter did not check on the table for about 20 minutes, by which point I was already done eating. The only positive note is that the meat itself seemed to be good quality; if you're looking for a rare steak, you might enjoy it. Took my mom for Mother's Day. Had a 2:00 reservation and got seated right away. However it took an hour to received our main entrees. I understand it was Mother's Day and they were extremely busy. My mom ordered her steak medium and it came out extremely bloody. Our server Salma offered to bring it back to the kitchen and get her a new one but considering we were already there for an hour my mom politely said it's ok and ate her backed potato instead. Salma ended up sending over the manager Barb and when she looked at my mom's bloody steak she offered her a free dessert, which made my mom smile and happy. Unfortunately over the past year this location has failed, in customer service and in the quality of the food. Yesterday we had to flag down the server everytime we had a question and very long wait between any staff interaction. Then after 1 hour and 45 mins. Our food was served. My friends sandwich was return twice. It was not well done as she had requested. The chicken plate my wife ordered had a strong off putting smell. This plate was returned and she just lost her appetite over it. We spoke to the manager Barbara who was very attentive, professional, empathetic, understanding and receptive to our concerns, but the damage had been done. We had a terrible experience at this restaurant at Escondido (296 E Via Rancho Pkwy) on May 7, 2026, around 5 PM. Our waitress was incredibly rude and unprofessional. The situation escalated when we asked to include our discount through the rewards app; she flatly refused, claiming she had already closed the check. A server never has the right to mistreat customers. Because of her poor attitude and lack of basic professional intelligence, she did not receive a good tip. We've been coming to Black Angus in Escondido for years, but our visit on May 10th was honestly one of the worst experiences we've had there. I took my wife and daughter for a family dinner with a 4:00 PM reservation, and the service we received was cold, unfriendly, and very disappointing. Our waitress acted annoyed whenever we asked for anything and made us feel unwelcome the entire time. Good service and a positive attitude go a long way in the restaurant business, and sadly that was completely missing during our visit. The decor is a little dated nothing modern or too fancy. I had the espresso martini which they don't use espresso for, so it doesn't really taste authentic. My family and I went to black angus after our safari park day, there was hardly no one in the entire restaurant and we were told to wait for 15 minutes, which turned out to be 20 and we stull had 1 hour drive and we're hungry so we waited. I'm so sorry my husband and I have never been to a black angus; we decided to try instead of red robin. long story short we ordered the wagyu dumplings, four appetizer deal au gratin potatoes, soup, and something else... food was soggy, you can tell it had been sitting under warmers and or VERY OLD , the steak was GREY with "grill" marks on it slimy, if you cook or work with food meaning SPOILED or the meat was SOGGY/WET when cooked... our waitress was amazing and sweet, I won't speak terrible on her. Food took a long time to come out as well and they were not busy. I'm pregnant and both my partner and I currently writing this are sick.
