There was one person waiting ahead of me and three more came to pick up afterwards. #1 Rule of Customer Service is to not ignore your customer! The server in the bar area was very attentive and friendly. After he seated me, he asked if I'd like to try a Presidene Margarita. Sure, I'll give it a whirl. It was served in a salted martini glass along with a shaker containing enough for three more refills - no complaints there! For my meal, I had the California Turkey Club. It was a huge club sandwich with turkey, avocados and bacon. Delish. So big I had to take the second half home (also served with fries). The experience as a whole was actually quite pleasant. I was seated in the corner and ended up staying longer than i'd planned because of the margarita. During that time, the server lingered around my table seeming to want to have small talk which was a bit off-putting but it was a bar and I enjoyed the company. I went to Chili's at Tanger Mall on Monday, December 27, around 1:00 or 1:30 pm. It wasn't full in fact it was almost empty. I went to place a ToGo order. They took my order they told me to wait about 20 to 25 minutes. I waited outside no problem. Came back at the indicated time, they had a few people in front of me, very small space, what I notice and worried the most was the person assigned to the ToGo orders, was cashier, getting your orders ready, she took care to a lady in front of me, when I approached the counter she said she was going to work on my order. 1- She had uncovered a very big, long hairy wig. 2- She went from the cash register to the food line without washing her hands, grabbed some flour tortillas with her bear hands, wrap them in foil and put them on the warmer. 3- She proceeded to prepare the tortilla soup (still no gloves) 4- All the server that were on the prepared section were NOT WEARING GLOVES!!!!!! They were wearing mask but NO GLOVES. Is very disgusting to think that Cashier went straight from touching money, ink pen, cash register, etc. to the food preparation line. Chili's is a bunch of frozen food prepared quickly but not sent to you as such. So you receive it cold, hard, nasty. My father and I went and we had to flag down a waiter for one refill. The grilled cheese for kids was burned on both sides. We didn't receive our food at the same time. Instead, some family received appetizers and entrees at the same time, while others received their food separately and later. I came here after a busy day of errand-running with my friend in hopes of a good meal. We started off with the skillet queso appetizer which was surprisingly delicious, although mildly over-salted, and filling! I then ordered the Bacon Ranch quesadillas which did not live up to my expectations. They were small and bland, without much flavor at all. The portion size was roughly 8 small quesadillas approx 1.5" long. I do not recommend these based on portion size and lack of taste. My drink however, a mango Arnold Palmer, was absolutely delicious! A tropical mix of lemonade and sweet tea with mango flavors made this drink an amazing one. A really interesting part about this restaurant was that each table had a small tablet with which you could view the menu (extremely limited in this aspect), place orders, play games, and pay the bill. A very interesting piece, but almost removes the need for waiters and waitresses altogether if you think about it. It started ok. It was really quiet in there. Girl took our order for appetizer and entres. The appetizer and entres arrived at the same time which sucked but I wasn't overly bothered. The appetizer was fine apart from the celery which was going rotten at the sides. We had loaded potato skins which tasted good. I had the quesadilla salad which I didn't eat much of as it didn't taste great but I figured that might just be me and also because after seeing the celery I didn't have much trust in their food hygiene or freshness. Our food arrived and I had to eat crackers instead of my beloved Cajun pasta whilst my coworkers had their burger and ribs. A part of me died, I am so disappointed with chilis. The dinning room had empty seating, with a 45 minute wait??? We sat at the bar, and the bartender did the best she could while serving the hard core drinkers. I visited Chili's for a to-go order in Gonzales, LA. My order was simple: chocolate shake and queso/chips. I ordered at 8 PM, was told it would be ready for 8:30 PM. I arrived at 8:25 PM to find a short line at the to-go area. It was 8:45 PM before anyone acknowledged I was standing there, I repeated my order, then watched as they put my order in to the chefs. It was 9:10 PM before I got my food. The staff were nice, but disorganized. In fact, the girl before me was checked out for the wrong ticket, waited 20 minutes more for it to be corrected and get her order. The lady in line behind me became very agitated because she too had not been recognized she pushed her way to the front to make sure her food was coming. There were 2 checkout computers running at the desk, someone should have addressed those in line and seen if they could help in a timely fashion. The agitated lady's order was cold and not correct either. Some suggestions: ~ Improve organization of takeout staff. ~ Improve customer service & professionalism. ~ Put takeout service in a place where customers cannot see or hear their orders being put in, or see staff joking around while customers wait. Or simply put up a door of some kind. People become even more impatient if they can see people doing nothing while waiting for long time for to-go orders. Had a terrible lunch there on September 24, 2013. The buns on my mini-burgers were dry and right out of the refrigerator. My wife ordered the chicken breast sandwich which she said was not tasty. The worst food item was the french fries. They tasted like they had been cooked the day before then reheated (not enough). When I complained to the waitress she immediately brought us two more orders of the same disgusting fries. Chili's used to serve fresh, good tasting shoestring fries. This Chili's serves the same fair as most, but the "small" lunch portion of fajita as a bit of a joke. Not much for veg in it... I ate here for a lunch and two dinners in a week and had different experiences. I can easily see how the reviews are mostly bad, especially related to service. We had an amazing server during dinner one night, a great one during a lunch and then a not so great one for another dinner. Inconsistency is a killer for any business. I liked how easy it was to get things special on my order and I loved the 2 for one happy hour specials. Horrible Manager. African American lady around mid 40's was rude since the moment I came in. Told me was only doing To-Go in a loud voice as if I was retarded. By FAR the worst dinner experience I have ever had at chili's. Which says a lot since I have gone here for years. I ordered a steak medium with broccoli and loaded mash. (Who orders a steak from chili's?) before you bash, they aren't absolutely terrible when you have others that want different places so you compromise. I have had steaks from here before but lastnight, FRIDAY night was the ABSOLUTE WORST. No one answers the phone here anymore, so I couldn't let them know the chef needed to be retrained and the quality of the food needed to be better inspected prior. So here I am leaving it here so others are well aware. The steak was DRY, TOUGH, and NO FLAVOR at all. The steak was so dry there were NO oils or juice in the plate at all, even after cutting it. The broccoli was certainly dead before being cooked, and the loaded mash was simply okay. The chips were wayyy too salted. The salsa was the only thing that was good with no complaints. This chili's has absolutely hands down gone to sh*t. The chef for a Friday night definitely needed to be reprimanded. I literally threw it all away. No manager available either! Do not go here!!
