I have seen this location slowly deteriorate over the last few years. Today was our last visit ever. The waitress took our order and brought out or drinks. That's it. No refills, no checking on our food ( which i will describe in a min) and no real service. She had a young guy helping who was very nice and tried his best to bring our food ASAP. Queso came, but had to wait for the chips. Queso got cold, drinks came out and then chips. My shrimp fajitas were so bland and lacking any kind of flavor. I have had more flavor from white rice than their spanish rice. I had to find a box for my wife's salad she didn't finish and the restrooms had toilet paper hanging off the stalls and all over the floor. The manager was at the front playing on his phone instead of making sure his restaurant was running right. We just had 5" of snow drop, so this saturday night, there were only 6 tables seated in the whole place. As we walked out, a truck pulled up and asked if they were open. Had an evening dinner here with a friend. Service was pretty good. Ordered drinks and appetizers. My Margarita was more like a slushy or Slurpee, and I could not taste the tequila. My friend had a mediocre red wine. The appetizer was chips and salsa and guacamole. The mildly spiced guac was reasonably good. The chips were so thin, that you really had to be careful dipping in the salsa and guac or, they would crumble into bits. Had the Parmesan Steak with steamed broccoli and mashed potatoes. Steak was prepared as ordered, even with the fake grill marks and poorly seasoned to boot; mashed po's, with shredded cheese, were so -so, but the broccoli in bunches as big as handballs, come on...that's an old trick to fill up the plate so you won't notice the the smaller entree, and still charge the same price! Geez o Pete, what a ruse!! Saving money by decreasing cost and increasing profit by downsizing the steak and up sizing the veggies!! Really?...Really? My friend liked the Fajitas with black beans, just not a memorable entree. Had enough left over to take home for lunch the next day. The game / electronic payment system was clunky and obtrusive for a 2 person table. Secondly, while it's more secure against identity theft, I resent putting 10 percent down for a tip, as I usually tip more in cash. (You all know why.) OK, for those of you who don't know, the tips are supposed to be pooled and split up at the end of the shift / night amongst the staff. So if your wait person is very good, they get screwed. If your wait person is very bad, they get more than deserved. So, in addition to the 10 percent on the electronic payment, try to take care of your wait person who performs well (5 -10 percent of your check) and try to hand the tip directly to them. Your total tip of 20% of the check is reasonable for good service; more is appropriate for superior, above and beyond service. Then the split is up to them. read more

This is probably the most fortunate Chili's I've ever been to. With the only serious competitor being Buffalo Wild Wings, Chili's somewhat has a Monopoly on Machesney Park dinner spots (especially those on 173) Food quality here is "average to good" when you think about the kind of establishment it is supposed to be. I've never really had a bad meal at Chilis and the service has always been a bit of a range depending on what server you get that day. Chocolate volcano is easily the best dessert I've had here Entrees here kind of fit into a "chain restaurant bland" category. You're really getting the same experience that you would get from a Ruby Tuesdays. Applebees, or similar establishment. I truly believe the only reason why Chilis is so packed here, is because it is the only restaurant of its kind in the vicinity, and management knows it. I know I'll be back, and some of the specials are interesting, but this place is an example of the reason why I'm looking for something "else" in local restaurants. read more

Tonight was the 2nd time that my family has driven from Beloit only for the store to either be closed or closing early. Tonight we arrived just after 7pm and were told that they were no longer taking names for the wait list because they would be closing at 8pm. Have always had excellent service at this location no matter how busy they are. Last time we were there was 7pm on a Friday night and anticipating that it was busy and the fact that we lived 15 minutes away, we called ahead and it was a 30 minute wait so by the time we got into the car and to the restaurant our wait was only 5-10 minutes. Our server at this visit was very busy and forgot to bring my husband a water at one point but when she came back to check on how our food was she quickly realized it and promptly returned with a water. No attention to detail and do not care about customers. Burger was so badly done and appeared to have done in a great hurry by literally throwing a few things between two breads. Fries were so little and did not look fresh that I believe they were too lazy to make more and just tossed in what was remaining in the pan from the last time. The staff do not know how to operate computers, do not understand customer instructions, and do not care about customer service at this location. They will not return your calls about concerns. Forget about getting even an inkling of customer service. So what am I going to do? I am not stepping foot again into this location and this location just lost a good customer. It's a clean place. Probably the cleanest out of all the Chili's in the Rockford region. Only 2 lol; service is pretty attentive and quick, better then the one off of east state street. I Just went and spent my birthday gift card for takeout dinner. Everything was sloppy, cold, and just disgusting. Right when we walked in we had to wait probably around three minutes before anyone even sat us down. I didnt hear " hi welcome to chilis " like i had expected. They sat us down. we only ordered appetizers because we werent too hungry, plus one beer and a pop. It cost $40 which is wayyy over priced. As of now, Chili's is seemingly stepping up it's game. The food here is average at least, but great at best. The menu is performed to it's fullest extent, leaving no stone unturned as it's options are all made with disappointment never crossing one's mind. In all, great, but not the best. Pros Everything on the menu will give you something decent, nothing will give you the feeling of disappointment. While Buffalo Wild Wings has the advantage of Media, Chili's TVs still offer viewership of countless sports. Staff seem fine and dandy, nothing out of the ordinary. Bathrooms are fine. The only desert worth anything near the area are located here. The previous cookie skillet or chocolate volcano offer more than a shake. They have a pick-up delivery set up, but I've never used it. If you just can't wait, you can play on their tablets for 3$. You can also pay on them too. Cons The budget minded consumer will be drawn away by the lower priced choices around the area. Fast food places, BDubs, etc. offer cheaper items that are lacking/less in Chili's. Examples: Wings, Fries, Shakes. Many will find the place crowded during certain nights due to events, so plan accordingly. Waiting times will happen. The noise level for any crowded area would be the same here. Depending on your noise tolerance on crowded nights, you may not like it. read more

My family visited Chili's at this location recently and I was very impressed with the service we received. We recently moved from the Chicagoland area and I have noticed ever since they added the little electronic things with the games, payment option etc. the service has been kind of just ok at most of the Chili's. We had a girl name Julie as our server and I must say she was phenomenal and would definetly request her again. She did all the little things to make it an enjoyable dinner for my little 15 month old boy putting in his order early ( without my request), offering him ice cream and she was always on top of refilling our drinks and offering us a brand new bag of chips and salsa to take home. This is absolutely one of my favorites for casual dining in the area. I love the potato soup; it's full of potatoes, bacon, cheese. So good. The fajitas are great, too. When you walk in you smell them and it makes your mouth water. I've never had poor service here. The staff is always friendly and helpful, and they don't ever seem to get frustrated when my friends and I sit an hour longer than we probably need to talking after dinner. We usually go at slightly off times (between 4:00 and 5:00) and never really have to wait for a table. The dining area is clean and the atmosphere is relaxed and happy. It's a great place to have some good food, pretty cocktails and make nice memories with your friends. read more

Unfortunately, my family and I will have to give this establishment -0 stars. We have been going here since they've opened. Tonight was UNBELIEVABLE! We walked in with our 10 year old son. Were seated, asked what we would like to for drinks and promptly someone came up to us and ACCUSED us of being inebriated ( to put it politely) they offered us free chips and salsa, then, proceed to tell us that we walked in slurring and stumbling. OUTRAGEOUS! We still can't believe the judgmental looks and how we were treated. This not only made our 10 year old son uncomfortable to say the least but, also us! We've been loyal customers and have never had a problem. Needless to say we had a table of 20 something's drinking numerous amounts of acholic beverages. We swallowed our pride. Basically for our son. We will NEVER GO BACK TO THIS ESTABLISHMENT. UNFORTUNATELY, we were unable to speak to the manager in our way out. Clean, food cooked well, and our table for two with no reservation was sat quickly even on a very busy Saturday evening with plenty of homecoming guests. They use the virtual line and table ready notifications through the Yelp app which is very convenient. Our server didn't seem bothered by the crowd as the restaurant was prepared and well staffed. Our food arrived to our table in less than 15 minutes. We love Chili's because we don't have to wait for a check, we can pay for our meal with credit or debit at the table on the provided tablets when we are ready to leave. We have frequently visited this location and will continue to as long as they keep up the excellent service and good food. read more

My wife and I live about 3 miles from here and either eat in or pick up at least 3-4 times a month and have only had one not so great experience. The service is always polite, and on top of everything. My wife watches her diet and she loves the guiltless salmon and margarita chicken. I definitely recommend this chilis. read more
