I tried leaving one star, but Yelp hid my review with other one star reviews that are "not recommended".. I came in for lunch today (Saturday). There was a 25min wait to be seated in the restaurant for a party of three, yet there 3 booths and 2 tall tables open in the bar. None of the tables had been cleaned so I had to ask the hostess to please clean one off for us. Our waitress was very friendly, but that was the only highlight of the visit. The wait time to receive our food was approx 45mins. My fiance ordered salmon and it was disgusting. My son ordered a medium steak that came out well done and wasn't hot. The best thing about my shrimp & steak fajita platter was the grilled onions. The steak was tough and the shrimp tasted terrible. Went there over the weekend on Sunday. Was not busy at all. They were able to sit us as a group of 5 right away, which was nice. What wasn't cool was letting us sit for over 15minutes without having someone come up to us to order drinks. Another family was sat down about 10 minutes after we were sitting and they had drinks ordered and were given chips and salsa to start. Chili's is very basic Tex mex food. As long as you know what you're getting and are ok with it then this is a good place to go. I've been to chili's multiple times and the chili's in Manteca has been the best I've been to this far! The service was amazing! Everything came out in a timely fashion. We never had to wait for anything or ask for things as they are great with checking up on you. We sat in the bar and we were in a hurry and they made sure to accommodate us and take that into consideration. We ordered the chips and guacamole and two Santa Fe salads. Everything was delicious and we will definitely be back. Pro tip: sitting in the bar you get to self seat, no waiting. You also get the most experienced servers and best service. So if you're in a small group or in a hurry this would be the best spot in this restaurant! read more

This has always been my favorite place. I came in today to the bar area, and all but one table was clean. The hostess gave me a menu with very few items on it, to see the rest of the menu I was to scan the code. Well there is no cell service in here and the table computer was off. A waitress came by to see what I wanted, I told her my phone was not working in here and asked what was on the Happy hour menu. She said she did not know and I was to go to Their web site. I've been to a few chili's but this experience was something else. Came here to celebrate a few birthdays in the family and ordered bottomless chips with three dips. We were nearly finished with that plate and are brought two full bowls of chips with salsas on the side. Maybe it was an accident because two different severs provided it but it was funny to see so many chips. I ordered the Crispy crispers with fries & street corn and it was delicious. Everyone enjoyed their plates and really appreciated how despite how busy it was, our two main servers always periodically checked in with us and instantly provided what we needed. Another funny instance was when we asked for two drink refills and two more ranches. They brought a plate of like 5 ranches "just in case" and brought two handfuls of water and soda refills for those who looked like they needed it. This place used to be Applebee's and I forgot and did not notice until today that it changed to Chili's. The food was not that great. I ordered a Tex mex bowl and my husband a burger. It wasn't good at all His fries was good and the Mexican rice but that's about it. They put cheese and sour cream in my food and I'm highly allergic. I did not eat a lot of the food because of this. Also they charged you $38 for 2 plates that were pretty small. It would be different if the food was worth it but sadly, it wasn't. Last night we decided to eat at Chili's for our 25th anniversary and I'm so sorry that we did. First, let me stay some of the positives because in all honesty wasn't 100% bad. We called in a pickup order which was brought out to us about 5 minutes after we arrived. Our order was complete, there were no items missing. The chips and salsa were good, and that's pretty much where it ends. First I'll start with my husband's steak. It was so bland and TOUGH! Very hard to chew. I took a bite to see what he was talking about. It was not very good at all. It didn't just taste underseasoned, it tasted like it was no seasonings whatsoever. Our daughter had an appetizer combo that included two sliders. To me, it looked like two lumps of charcoal. They were just totally overcooked. My son's hamburger was also overcooked and with no seasonings. In the options For how you want it cooked, we asked for pink, it was definitely way beyond anything resembling pink. He took a couple bites but didn't even bother to finish it. As for mine, I got the smokehouse combo with ribs, chicken crispers, and brisket. This has probably got to be one of the worst meals I've ever had. The brisket amount that I was given, if I had to guess, I'd say was about maybe two tablespoons worth or so? It was a very tiny portion. When I tasted it, it was so incredibly salty! Which is funny because everything else that my family got came with no salt at all! You can tell that the brisket had been overcooked because it was tough and stringy. It was just like a bunch of shredded strings of meat placed on top of the garlic bread that they serve with it. The chicken crispers I got were so bad! The coating on the outside was rock hard. I was even laughing because I was showing my family how they made a "clunk clunk clunk" sound on the table when you tapped it. So I thought well, I'll peel away the outer coating and eat the chicken inside. Nope. That was also completely overcooked. It was tough, stringy, and way too chewy. So that didn't get eaten either. My ribs however were tender, but honestly, they were rather mediocre. I've absolutely had better ribs from other restaurants. The sauce wasn't very tasty and there wasn't a whole lot of meat on the ribs. Unfortunately, that was the only somewhat passable part of my meal. My mom's meal however, she said was alright. She also got the smokehouse combo with the sausage and she said everything was ok, but not something she would come back for. The sausage was cut very thinly on her combo and looked unappetizing. All in all, we were very disappointed. I know this is not a high end, fine dining place, I also know that we are in the middle of a pandemic, but for what I described above, neither of those things should be a factor in just cooking and seasoning your food properly. For the nearly $100 that we paid, the food should have been much better than what we got. We live on the other side of town and were very hungry, so to return the food and and get something else was not an option. The last time I was at Chili's was a few years ago. I hadn't returned because at that time, the food was not very good at all. I thought for our anniversary, we should give it a try one more time. I'm highly disappointed that this is what we encountered. I don't know that we will ever be returning. Well, at least at this location in Manteca, definitely no. read more

We loved going to chilies once a week until we moved tables to allow a bigger family to sit close together. Not even a minute went by & I went back to get my wife's sunglasses from the table and glasses were gone. Mind you the family that was waiting to be seated there were not seated yet, the staff was cleaning the table as we just moved for them. When I asked the staff about the sunglasses and if they seen them, the waitress immediately said I didn't take your glasses I don't know where their at. I just had dinner at Chili's tonight (5/30). Their dining room has been open about a week since SIP orders has eased in San Joaquin County. It was about 25% full, which is definitely not a normal Saturday night. There was no line to get in (at 6:00pm). The menu is a bit smaller than normal, but most of the main foods is still there (with prices about the same). They have a great 3 items for $10 or 2 people for $25 that are super good meal deals. Everybody is super friendly and careful to be safe, all workers wearing masks, everybody seated at least 6 feet from others, the bar is closed for seating, and everything is cleaned often. I got the 3 for $10, a drink (lemonade), appetizer (chips and salsa), and main dish (chicken crispers with fries and corn on the cob). $10! Food was yummy. I had a great time and felt safer at Chili's than I did at the crowded madness that was Home Depot and Walmart earlier in the day. read more
