Sat at the bar around 3:30 pm. Server asked what I wanted to drink and brought it promptly. The good ended there. I guess it was a shift change because a large fellow took my order and did disappeared. The female server continued to talk to her friends the whole time I was there and I was totally ignored the whole visit. I had to interrupt her social hour a couple of times to get a refill on my drinks. Said male server never was seen again except to bring my bill. Food was fine but service was poor. Fact is that the place was quite empty so no reason that I should wait long for service. Servers need to introduce themselves and if I am being passed off then introduce my new server. Shows poor employee training. I think management is not effective here at training or supervising employee behavior. I filled out a complaint on Chili's website and have not heard back in the 48 hours that they claim that they will contact me. I usually don't rate chain restaurants because the food quality is standard and the decor is generic. However, since I feel I should give this place a rating to help fellow tourists who have kids that love Chili's, I will go ahead and let you know that it's perfectly safe to go eat at this particular Chili's. Really, its like Chili's everywhere else (except a few that just seem to hire cooks that can't follow simple instructions). The cooks get the recipe, the bar has cold beer, the TVs all work, and the Ziosks are still annoying as f%. About the Ziosks? Is anyone else as annoyed as I am with these things? I imagine a future in which a mobile Chili's Ziosk assess your body fat as you walk through the door, retrieve your Facebook social profile, your family history, your medical record, your financial status, and mashes all the info together, only to stick an IV in you and let just the right nutrients flow into your body in the form of liquid Cajun Chicken Pasta while you lay there and think of different ways to commit suicide because you long for that human interaction with a real human waiter. read more

Chili's used to be my favorite casual restaurant, for many many years in fact. But this location in North Reno has BIG problems. Tonight was not just a one-off experience. Incredibly bad, but I blame Management, not the staff, we'll not entirely anyway. If I were to look around and see that nobody else was having problems, then I might assume I just had some bad luck that is uncommon to most everyone else...but, at least 5 other tables were frustrated too, clearly and visibly unhappy customers. Where was management during this fiasco? Geez! I can't possibly detail everything here, so I will leave it up to management to reach out to me to hear everything that went wrong. UPDATE: Nearly 3 months have gone by and management has not responded. I actually forgot that I write this (original) review, but never would I forget the experience. Our server (I can't remember their name because they didn't take the time to introduce themself) was very kind, if a bit short with us. My husband and I have not been to a chain restaurant in a while. We thought of one in our quadrant of Reno -- Chili's. We ordered the Texas Cheese Fries as an appetizer. We enjoyed the evilness of cheese and bacon bits atop french fries. The quesedilla explosion salad was pretty good. The chicken tenders came with corn on the cob -- a nice surprise -- and yes, more fries. We had excellent food and service here last night 2/27/2017. The tough thing about Chilis food is that it's so consistent it's tough to go above and beyond with the menu. That's why we seek out their logo when we are traveling. During our recent trip to Reno we had a craving for good food and drinks...so we hit this Chilis with our wallet and left very happy. We were greeted warmly by a very nice young lady who I failed to grab her name, but throughout our meal she checked on us and was working hard bussing tables and cleaning. She was wearing a gray shirt and black jeans with long blonde hair...sorry we didn't catch your name!! Sven was our server and he was very attentive without hovering. Always timing the refill of our drinks with the audible straw gurgle at the empty ice layer...lol! We skipped dessert tonight but it was offered. Our meals were hot and fresh, my wife's margherita pizza salad was well prepared, and my turkey sandwich came with crunchy and light French fries...perfect for dunking in the readily available ketchup at arms reach. All in all a great meal here. What sets each Chilis locations apart from one another? Excellent customer service, that's what. Five stars here!! Final note, we also witnessed the manager walking the floor and checking on tables as well as interacting politely with the staff. A reflection of the great service here? Most definitely. It has been at least four years since we have been in a Chili's. We used to frequent the sparks location, but that closed , so when we were in North Reno for a UYE event we both were excited to see chili's. The restaurant is right off McCarran near Mae Anne. Parking is not an issue and the lot is well lit. We were greeted and given a choice of table or booth. You can sit in the bar area or restaurant area. We started with spring rolls as an appetizer and we both ordered tacos. I ordered three prime rib tacos and my wife ordered a combo of fish and shrimp. The spring rolls were delicious. They were served with cascade ranch dip. The rolls were fried and were crispy but not overcooked. They were stuffed with chicken, Monterey Jack, cilantro, and Pico de Gallo. They had a little kick, but not to spicy. The tacos are definitely gringo tacos. They are soft tacos with prime rib, onions, tomatoes, and a chimi sauce. They also add a Pico de Gallo that has a bit of jalapeño. My lips felt a bit of the spice. The flavor was good, wish there was not as much spice. I can not say we will be back soon since it is a bit of a drive. If we are in the area I could see lunch happening. read more

So, it's Chili's, a chain restaurant so you expect the same experience every time right? Well not so much, but we do enjoy our meals and service enough that it does become a family stop about once every two weeks. So here's my thoughts...go on the weekends. The service and food is much better than Sunday through Thursday. I have had the worst experience EVER of this restaurant on a Sunday a couple weeks back. Fridays and saturdays they seem to have the heavy volume flow down better. The bar is active, usually full but can grab a booth. If you are alone, grab a bar seat. If you can I highly suggest asking for the server MOnica. While many of the girls are good, she is the best server there. She has worked there a couple years and she always does her job wonderfully. The food is "tex mex" so whatever American spin they do on mexican classics is usually pretty good. 2 for $20 is a good deal. The cook their steaks well, as to temp and good seasoning. I highly recommend their skillets desserts super yummy. I wish they had more choices of hot teas, only black. Chili's is a perfect example of everything that is right and wrong about restaurant chains. The best thing I can say is that it's always exactly what I expect, regardless of which location you're at. The worst thing I can say is there isn't a single thing on the menu that makes me say, "Hey, let's go to Chili's! Their _______ is the BEST." The food & service aren't bad. They just aren't exceptional. The only time I ever eat at this place is when my father wants to go there: he loves chain restaurants, and this one is at the top of his list. In fact, I can only think of two occasions in the past 15 years when I ate at Chili's without my father being present. I debated between 2 and 3 stars for this. It's on a rare occasion that we visit a chain restaurant, but by the time we had finished some chores and were ready to eat, it was too late for my husband and I to eat many places. I think our waitress thought it was too late as well. (It was around 9:00 p.m.) I don't need sunshine and rainbows all the time (though how awesome would that be, right?) but it sure makes it nice to feel welcomed at a restaurant. We felt like we were inconveniencing the waitress the whole time we were there. For the most part the food is pretty good. The past couple of times we've been we opt for the 2 for $20 meal. I went to Chilies about 20 times throughout this past year and I have found the experience to be good, but after today I am going to take my business somewhere else. The restaurant wasn't extremely busy, there was probably about 1/4 full which compared to many nights seemed very slow. When we sat down our waitress came out and took our drink order and food order. I though that the service was going to be good, but it was all downhill from here. Our server was named Charity if that helps you out at all. 25 minutes into our meal we finally received our drinks. I didn't think much of it, but it gets worse from here. 45 minutes into the meal we got our appetizer, which came out burnt and cold. They also forgot the sauce, no big deal, but our waitress never came out to check on us and I finally couldn't wait any longer, so I tracked down another server and finally got some sauce. 55 minutes into the meal we got our dinner, the food was not appetizing and my food was extremely cold. My girlfriend ordered the chicken stripes, which were extremely disgusting, they probably fried every weird piece of chicken meat = gross! I was extremely disappointed in the service and finally our waitress came by to see that our glasses were empty. See filled up our glasses, but through them down. She seemed to have a bit of an attitude problem. To summarize my experience I would recommend going to somewhere that appreciates your business and offers better food. The staff at this facility seemed to be very disorganized. When my girlfriend went into the rest room the servers were texting on their cell phones by the sinks and some of the other waitresses were outside the restroom gossiping. Not only did the cell phone/gossip conversations provided a unprofessional experience, it was also irritating and distasteful. I have been here many times over the last decade. This last visit was during lunch rush, and was pretty consistent with the last handful of visits. I try to avoid this place on my own, but my family has a hard time agreeing on something, so we usually end up going here when we are together. During this last visit, we finally agreed it was the final visit. The waitress was nice, and patient while we waited for the last member of our party to show up. I ordered the margarita chicken, which is what I usually get. It took 40 minutes to arrive after ordering. It's usually delicious, but this time it was very undercooked, so I didn't eat it. The manager took it off the bill. After eating, we tried for 15-20 min to catch our waitress. When we finally did, we ordered a dessert to share at the table. The pizza cookie came cooked in a dirty dish. We all took one bite, tasted the cheese fries, and simultaneously made a face. Yuck. Looking at the dish, it had garnish and grease from a prior appetizer. Oye. After failing to get anyone's attention, we paid on the tabletop device and left. We came in tonight and the place was pretty busy, so we sat in the bar area. Our waitress was prompt and took our order pretty quickly. There were four of us so we ordered the 2 for $20.00 dinners. Two of us ordered the chips with salsa and added queso. The other two ordered the Flat Bread. We also ordered our meals at the same time. Our waitress left with our order and came back once or twice to check on us. Now the reason for the low stars, our appetizers and meal all came at the same time. We were not allowed to enjoy our appetizers. We had to move everything around on the table. I tried to eat some of the appetizers, but then my meal started to go cold. I felt like we were totally rushed and when I asked our waitress why everything came out at the same time, she just shrugged her shoulders and said sorry. I was then fixated on this for the rest of the meal. I saw the manager standing by the front entrance; however, he never walked around to ask if everything was alright. I was actually waiting to see if our waitress was going to throw the check on the table at the same time (thank god she didn't). Ah Chili's, you really need some help. My wife and I tried to choose between Popeyes, a favorite of ours or Chili's. Thought we'd try Chili's. She ordered the shrimp taco lunch special and I had the Old Timer burger. My burger was fine though the fries needed more seasoning, and the soup was good. However, my wifes meal sucked. She asked for Italian vinaigrette and got some dressing that tasted like a bland French. The waiter confirmed it was Italian but I doubt it. The shrimp in the tacos were ok, but should have been grilled to add some flavor. But with the heavy glop of dressing that was on the Cole slaw I don't think it would have mattered. It was like mayo. Come on Chili's, the slaw should have been a light citrus vinaigrette to compliment the shrimp, not that grease you put on it. My wife ended up picking out the shrimp and eating them plain. The service was fine. Our waiter was nice and apologized for the salad dressing. Change the slaw dressing! Shrimp tacos should be light and tasty, not bland and full of Mayo. We were somewhat tired and did not want to go to the store and then home to cook, our cupboards were bare. We ordered the three for $10 and endless chips, salad and soup. Im only giving it a two star because I have been here multiple times and half the time its decent service. But this time I have a review on theor call ahead service and the hostest that was working tonight. First, I know it is busy, I called a head for a party of 9. I did this at 6 pm for a 6:30pm arrival. Here i will note the text message i received says i will get a text message when the table is ready. Also the man on the phone didn't mention having to come in to check in. However upon arrival myself and my boyfriend and children. Walked in to talk to the hostest to get what the wait time still looked like. There were a few people in front of us so we stayed where the seating is in the foyer. Before I was able to get up to the hostess stand we were rudely told that we can stay here. And that was all. Short and to the point and she didn't even ask us if we had been helped. I went back and waited in the car for another 45 minutes checking the link that was sent and it kept saying I was first in line. Over an hour after I made the call ahead my spot just vanished. I went into see what had happened, when I finally flagged the hostess down I received short answers and attitude about how it was my fault that my tables were given away because I never checked in with her. I was never given the instruction too nor did she even give me a chance. I feel like it was a mix between the confusion from the text message and the rude attitude from the hostess. For some reason, and I've tried to be patient, this location is not up to par, for everything-food, service, kitchen, etc. We've had situations (plural) where the food got mixed up and the manager wound up coming out to apologize for a mistake in the kitchen. Not that we asked for it mind you, but I guess it's our luck that our food shows up before appetizers, when the apps do make it out. Cold food, slow turn times from kitchen, lackluster service, and the list could go on. Nice enough folks, and no major complaints but below the even mildly average standard I would ascribe to all chain eateries so only 2 *s. Wish I could like this place but it ain't happening! Fast forward a few years and a friend insisted on going.. so i went.. and I am now addicted... hehe... as with most things this guy reccomends.. my son even loves it.. so its a win win situation.. This review is for the NW location and primarily we sit in the bar area... They have a great happy hour- You can get their chips and salsa for free, and order a few of their appetizers and seriously get full off of it.. we ordered a variety of things and I am satisfied for the most part. They also have these chicken cripsers... you have to try them with the honey chipolte sauce.. oh my goodness.. they are so good! I have never had chicken strips that come out cripsy with the sauce already on.. these are amazing! Just spicy enough, but not overwhelming.. Their little side salads are pretty decent too.. Their 2 for 20 used to better because you'd get a better selection for appetizers, and you would get desert. but now they just added more entrees... It is a chain, but the happy hour is great...i wish i could remember exactly when but i think it ends at 7 on week days, and is during foortball games. Great prices! read more

I have been going to this restaurant for close to 10 years and tonight is the last time I will ever step foot in there. The last 6 years the service has slowly been going downhill and it was hit or miss if u could be done in under an hour or if it would take close to 2 hrs to finish the meal. Tonight was the straw that broke the camels back. I sat at a booth for 15 minutes, watching a number of severs walk past me and only 1 stopped long enough to tell me they would be with me shortly (after about 7 minutes). We had initially gone to Flowing Tide #1 and were never acknowledged at all by at least three servers and personnel as we sat there for about ten minutes. We left there and went to Chili's where we were very warmly greeted, seated promptly, and given a very sweet and pleasant waitress, we were winning already. We ordered the two for $25 meal and it was exactly what we needed. My burger was very well cooked and tasty and my husband enjoyed his Cajun Pasta. We had the Skillet Chocolate Chip Cookie for dessert and it was crispy on the edges, just the way we like our cookies, and it was a very enjoyable end to a great dinner. The food is not ground-breaking, but it was all very well prepared and presented, and the fact that we were treated well and that we received such great service after such poor treatment was a welcome relief. this place is an absolute shit show! they had the tables mixed up and if they gave us the wrong food they would take it back and another table will be missing there food. same happened to us... the table beside us would get our food and when they said that the food wasn't there's they would take it back to the kitchen and not give it to us, not to mention our waitress is a complete dumbass and randomly came to our table with buffalo sauce and honey... We decided to give Chilies a try again, we use to go there and have their chicken fried steak and enjoyed it but it is not on their menu anymore. My husband had a bacon cheeseburger and I had boneless chicken wings. He said it was one of the worst cheeseburgers he had ever had, dry, flavorless and downright crappy.
