The food here was definitely the highlight. Everything we ordered was flavorful, fresh, and well-prepared. You can tell the kitchen knows what they're doing. It's not super often that you see a South Indian restaurant that pops up in Seattle, so I wanted to make sure I checked out this one. Started with the punukulus. These are deep-fried balls of fermented batter, usually dipped in sauce. The crunch was solid, but it felt like these were mostly about the outside breading. The inside didn't have much of a taste to it. My main dish was the Bengaluru Masala Dosa. As opposed to some of the other dosas, this one comes normal-sized. The dosa was pretty good overall. Easily the best part was the masala potato filling, which was the perfect spice level while retaining a ton of flavor. I wish there had been more of that filling as it was concentrated more on the left half, but it's some of the best masala dosa filling I've had. However, the chili podi on the other parts of the dosa is not spicy at all. The outside of the dosa isn't really crispy, but it's not a huge problem as it's pretty easy to tear apart still. What was disappointing was the chutneys. These were quite flavorless. The green chutney especially tasted watered down and immensely bland. I also tried some of the Vijayawada biryani. This was really good. Quite spicy, but had a ton of aromatics and a variety of flavors. Portions are solid for the prices, which aren't too expensive. One note is our food took a ridiculously long time to come. It's not a very big restaurant, so that should not have been happening. Our first attempt was unsuccessful because the wait was over an hour, so this time I made sure to reserve a table early in the morning. Visited Sangamam for lunch with one other family. We arrived early, so it was not too busy and we were seated immediately. Parking was a challenge. We had to park in the parallel street and walked to the restaurant. There is paid park right in front of the restaurant, but it is usually full during peak hours. So be ready to park a little far out and walk. There are some nice little shops along the way when you walk, so it is not that bad. We ordered Chicken 65, Cashew Chicken and another Shrimp based dish for appetizers. All three dishes were very delicious and freshly made. For entrees we had the Ghee Podi Thattu Idly, Dosa and Chicken Biriyani. All the dishes were good and not too spicy, which we liked. Overall a nice Indian restaurant in the Fremont area. It's quite a task to get tables over the weekend, so be prepared to wait if you don't have a reservation. The ambience is great too. And the food was a surprise. Everything we tried was delicious. Firstly the manchow soup was super delicious and so authentic. Same with the masala Puri. One of the most authentic ones I've had in Seattle, tasted like the ones back in Bangalore. We tried this place for the first time and left with mixed feelings, while the ambiance is from the previous restaurant Rasai the overall experience was not too impressive. This seemingly up scale place for Indian food has a confused menu at best, they seem to be serving South Indian food primarily with dosas, curries and biryanis but they also have North Indian options with veg curries Naan and chaat options. Further they have Indo-Chinese options on the menu to cater to everyone. This strategy can work and they may do well as there is something for everyone but they seem to be taking shortcuts to manage a large menu. We ordered a pani puri and Bangalore masala dosa to start, service was fast but food was missing something, pani puri used the fryum puri which is a huge short cut all restaurants must avoid as it does not taste good at all. It is easy to manage because of shelf life but is not authentic and nobody wants to pay for that. The dosa masala lacked salt and was bland. We next ordered a dum biryani and while it tasted good with all the spices it wasn't a real biryani. The rice and chicken were cooked separately and later on put together as a dish which being a biryani chef myself I could easily tell. Overall, the place has potential as there are no good South Indian restaurants in proper Seattle and this place is good as long as they can avoid shortcuts. read more

The chutneys and sambar finally taste like back home. We ordered the medhu Vada, masala uttappam, egg kottu parotta, garlic naan, paneer tikka masala, gobi manchurian and egg kalakki. I did not think it was worth the wait, though. The joy of going out for a decent meal, at least for me was killed by the fact that I had to sit and wait for 15 minutes for my order to be taken and then another another 15 minutes for the chai to be served. We ordered a bunch of stuff amongst 4 people and did a family-style dinner so we could try different things. Everything was take-out, so I can't speak for the service. I've only been to a few Indian restaurants in Seattle, but I think this one is my favorite so far. The Paneer Tikka Masala was perfect texture and super flavorful, and the portion was big enough for dinner + some leftovers. The naan was super soft and flavorful, with a little crisp on the bottom. I did think the dosa was a tiny bit limp and dry, but that could have been because it was takeout. The puff puffs were also super yummy, and I liked all the different sauces. We heard about this newly opened Indian place in Fremont. Had to give it a try we ordered the sambar vada and Bangalore dosa with chai and coffee. The Bangalore dosa did meet the expectation and the flavor was good but the sambar was not that flavorful. The vada was also hot and crisp. The tea and coffee was cold so I don't recommend taking it. The place is small and seat with reservations only and the hot and the servers are very welcoming and provide good recommendations for food options. I was walking around Fremont and told myself I'll try the restaurant with the most luring aroma, and Sangamam reeled me in. The restaurants ambiance is very relaxing with warm lighting, comfy seating, and an open dining area. The menu has a ton of tantalizing options and I opted for a masala chai and the house special chicken masala. The chai was perfectly balanced with flavor, smooth texture and got me relaxed after a few sips. But, the house special chicken masala is what blew my mind. The curry has the magical property of being very spicy without sacrificing and overpowering the other herbs and softer spices in the dish. And the chicken is undoubtedly the most tender, juicy, flavorful, falls-right-off-the-bone chicken I've ever had from any restaurant. I didn't think chicken could make me so breathless, yet I was proven wrong. With that being said, the service was wonderful, the aroma lead me to the right place, and I will be back again soon to try some dosas and naan. read more

This restaurant specializes in South Indian food, and offers authentic speciality dishes from different sub-regions. It's so difficult to find Indian food in Seattle, especially South Indian, so I'm very happy this place is exists. We were a group of 6 and we came in with a reservation to celebrate a friends birthday. Unfortunately we ended up having to wait nearly 40 minutes for a table, standing outside in the cold. Once we sat down too, service was a bit slow as they seemed severely understaffed. The food however was excellent! In particular loved the fish! This is the old restaurant Rasai. I was never a fan of food there so even with a name change there is nothing different. Everything we ordered was extremely average with no flavors. Ordering mild food meant going bland with no spice and no salt. All the food came in random order. Ambiance is really old and can use a good cleaning. For reference we ordered kuthu porotta (no flavor), paneer biryani - felt like yellow rice with some paneer curry, dosa which was okaish (masala was bland), sesame gobhi (which was probably the only thing good). How bad can a "fine dining" experience get? Horrible experience to put it mildly. Had a reservation, still made to wait more than an hour and finally had to ditch our plans. People holding up their pitchers hoping to get some water, others getting frustrated having to wait more than 20-30 minutes between each serving and still not getting half their order, some customers getting up and grabbing their own to-go boxes and finally diners wandering around looking for someone to take their money so they can finally escape this disaster. read more

This place simply isn't worth it. We had booked at least a month in advance for a table of six to celebrate for a birthday. When we got there, it seemed like they hadn't prepared our table, and made three of us (the first people) sit in a four person table, tying to say that they will squeeze two more chairs in. The table was small enough already for four people. When we tried to tell them, they just dismissed us, and weren't paying attention. It has great Telugu and Tamil menu items. The place was very busy. we didnt realize they accept reservations. We tried calling ahead a few times to get some info like parking, but the staff was sooo busy - it made sense why they couldn't answer the phone. They were super accommodating and tried and got us seating. We ordered Veg Thali and Hyderabadi biryani. Both were great. Veg Thali looked more Tamil than Telugu. All items were delish. (We Telugus don't care much for carrot curry. I prefer not-so-healthy andhra kooralu:) On biryani - One of the best Hyderabadi biryanis in the Seattle area.
