Bacon Rancher Burger
Erin B.

We came here on a Saturday a little before 5pm and were sat right away. Our waiter was super sweet and patient with us as we had not been here in a very long time. I ordered the Radical 'Rita and it was very good so I got a second one. My husband ordered an old fashioned and he thought it tasted terrible. He did enjoy the 'Rita as well. We ordered mozzarella sticks and we got the 6 count, but we truly could have been good with the 3 count. There was a good cheese pull and over tasty. My husband ordered the Bacon Rancher Burger and he said it tasted great, but the size portions were too much. I did a make your own burger where essentially I ordered the same things on the Bacon Rancher Burger, but only one burger pattie. The burger was okay, nothing to rave about. The ranch I got with the fries was way too liquidy. The fries were average. Overall, it wasn't a terrible experience, but this place is way over priced. I can spend the same amount at a way better restaurant.

Some friends chose this place, and honestly, we weren't excited about it. With only two stars and not-so-great past experiences with Chili's, our expectations were low. But since it was their pick, we went along. To our surprise, it wasn't bad at all! The bathrooms were super clean, the service was excellent, and while the burgers were pretty standard, the fries were delicious. Overall, I'd say it's a solid 3 stars for this location.

Warm tea

I ordered my steak Medium rare and it was overcooked, the waitress told me there was nothing she could do and the fries were so hard I could not bite into them. (She took my whole plate and threw it away because I couldn't eat.) She refilled my sweet tea with warm tea and no ice so I was unable to drink my drink either.

I'm kind of torn on how to review this! I'm basing off my last 2 experiences - one dine in, one takeout. Takeout - a hot mess. I ordered around 8:45 and it said the ready time was 9:08-9:13 and that I'd receive a text when it was ready. It was like 9:23 and I hadn't gotten the text yet, so I just decided to go in and check. There were several people waiting there as well. Two employees walked by us and I will say they at least did acknowledge us and say someone would be with us shortly. They had a shelf with a few orders sitting on it, but the shelf said delivery so I figured mine wasn't up there. 5 or so minutes later a young lady came to the register, but by then 2 of the DoorDashers had gone ahead and just grabbed their own orders off the shelf. In their defense, it kind of seemed like maybe that was an option. But I overheard the cashier on the phone, seemingly diffusing an issue, saying "sometimes people grab the orders without checking." Our interaction was kind of strange, I felt like she kind of whispered when addressing me, but maybe she was just overwhelmed. It seemed like there was a steady volume of orders, but it just seemed really disorganized and inefficient. My order had been on the shelf the whole time- she handed it to me, and I was on my way. I was starving so I sampled a few fries in the car and they were quite cold. I assume my order had been sitting there for a while. It was after 9:30 when I left with my food. I received the text my order was ready at like 10:00 lol. Overall the food was pretty good, but I think it would've been better if it had been hotter. The extra 20 minutes it sat on the shelf didn't help, but overall it was still enjoyed. I ended up going back because I just wanted to try again. Chili's is normally one of the chains that I am just a stan for. However, I miss the original chicken crispers. Just saying! We went in around 3:45/4:00 and there was a 25 minute wait, but the restaurant was empty. Maybe a total of 8 tables occupied in the entire place. We asked if we could just sit at the bar top and order food there and she said sure. The host was fine, but personally I feel like hosts should be welcoming and friendly, as the first face you see upon entering the restaurant, but she kind of just seemed annoyed we were even there. For what it's worth, I think you can join the waitlist in advance, but I wouldn't have thought it would be busy at 4PM on a Monday, and it wasn't. The service at the bar was friendly enough, but it was fairly slow throughout. I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt, as they probably told us there was a wait due to the fact they didn't have adequate staffing. Our food took a good 35-40 minutes for a triple dipper appetizer and a grilled chicken entree. We were going to order a chips and salsa to snack on since it seemed to be taking a while, but the waitress didn't come back by until our food was delivered. Again, the food was pretty cold. The plate that the grilled chicken was on was really hot, so I assume it had been sitting under the warmer for quite a while. Other than the temperature, the food was quite good. We ended up paying on the table kiosk which was convenient, because it had been an hour and some change, and I was just ready to go, and didn't really want to wait on the process of getting the check, waiting on them to come get it, etc. Overall, I will return, but they could definitely work on service - speed and friendliness, as well as the temperature of the food. To go was the biggest problem - this needs SERIOUS organization! This Chili's used to be EXCELLENT, but it's always struggled with consistency.

There was a 20 min wait and we were starving after a long travel day and eager to get to campus so we ate at the mediocre crepes restaurant next door instead. When we picked her up a week later I was prepared with reservations. However, when we checked in they told us they don't take reservations so it must be for their sister restaurant (oops) and the wait was even longer this time. One of the hostesses mentioned there would be seating clearing at the bar within minutes, which was good enough for us. We sat down 3 minutes later and ordered a few minutes after that. My daughter went for a cheeseburger which she happily ate stating that the food at Wake was NOT good all week. My husband enjoyed his turkey club and packed the other half for his flight later that evening (lunch and dinner). I went with the crab cake appetizer, which I thought was just OK. It was only a few dollars cheaper than the sandwich so I probably should have gotten that instead, but didn't want to be tempted with the bread and fries. We were in and out within 30 minutes, which I appreciated since we had a drive to Chapel Hill ahead of us. Overall, it was a solid meal and I'm guessing a favorite for those affiliated with the campus.

No other way to describe it. I also loved the fact they served it with warm and toasted bread pieces.....added another depth of flavor to the entire bite. Entire thing was filled with crab meat as well. I'm used moreso to the chunkier style of crab dip, if that makes any sense, but whatever they did to theirs passed my test. For our entrees, we both opted for burgers. I've been waiting something that isn't a smash burger for quite sometime. No disrespect to smash burgers, but I've been wanting a thick, hand patted burger and they delivered. I ordered the tavern burger with the medium cook and a side of fries. Burger cook was perfect. One thing I loved was that the actual patty had char marks on it & it added more flavor to it. Very juicy and flavorful. Their fries were solid too....crispy yet soft in the middle. My wife got their bacon jam burger with a well done cook and she raved about how juicy it was. The cook was to her preference as well. She wasn't too impressed with the pasta salad as a side, but she did get an order of sweet potato fries and they were great as well. Finished the evening with their carrot cake and key lime pie to go and they were both delicious. Their key lime may be the best I've had in this area. Our server Morgan was awesome as well. Very attentive and helpful with the menu suggestions and explaining the things she personally liked, along with what was popular with other patrons. Their setup is odd....not saying that in a bad way, but its an older building and the layout says that. We were seated very quickly. Again, Morgan was awesome and made sure we were taken care of. The ambiance was good....very apt for a date night. Didn't get the chance to check out any of the other dishes around, but everyone seemed pleased with the service and the food. Will be back again to try some of their other entrees.

I stopped because I needed a quick bite to eat after helping a friend do some yard work. When I got there, there was no one in line, save for one woman in front of me who could not make a decision to save her life, which is no fault of K&W's. But I was trying to get some food, and the associates behind the counter were not being very helpful or attentive. It was near the end of the night, so they were out or low on a few things, and I totally get that, and do not hold them at fault for this- as I came in around 45 to 30 minutes before close. But, I was still able to get what I desired, country-style steak with rice, okra, and mac & cheese. When I got to the register, I was in for a shock as this meal was over $20. Now, I am sorry, but one of the pillars of K&W is cheaper eats. Had I wanted to spend $20 on a meal, I would have chosen a better place to do so. That price point is going to kill them, as no one wants to pay that sorta price for that level of food. I knew what kinda food I was going to find when I went there, but I did not expect to have to pay that ridiculous fee for that dinner. I am well aware that $20 is no longer considered much, but charging over $20 for one person to dine at K&W is absolutely absurd. That being said- he service was great and the employees were nice, and honestly the food was okay- but $20 is to high, and I will not be spending my money there, in the future.

That is a must get! I have the impression they do Greek food really well but everything else seems mediocre. I ordered the chicken fried steak, which was a small portion and lacked flavor. They also initially brought it with brown gravy covering it even though I ordered sausage gravy. Not a big deal, but they told me they had the correct one in the back and would bring it right out. I waited longer than expected for "it's already made," and I'm pretty sure I was lied to and had to wait on a re-fire, which came with the gravy inconspicuously on the side this time, but the service was friendly nonetheless. It was Valentines weekend so we ended up being there while they were quite busy. Still, the wait wasn't terrible, all considered. The French onion soup was delicious, and we were able to get it as a side for only a $2.50 up charge. Worth it! My wife got the turkey meal (not pictured, sorry) and it reminded me exactly of the tom turkey meal I used to get at the diner in NY when I was a growing up! The restaurant is large, bright, and clean though I think it tries to give southern kitchen when really they should probably lean more into the Greek diner vibes. I'll be back to update my review after I've ordered some other options off their menu.

I didn't expect the restaurant to be busy on a weeknight, but I was obviously wrong as the parking lot was nearly full. We found a spot at the rear of the restaurant and made our way inside. We were promptly greeted and shown to our table near the fireplace. A quick glance around confirmed that the place was jumping, which is good news for any restaurant during the middle of the week. A good balance of menu options from salads, sandwiches, fish, steaks, etc. Expect to pay $20-30 per person and some entrees are ala carte. They appear to have a good selection of wine, beers and cocktails from the long list in the menu. I went with the lasagna; my wife had the fish and chips; and my colleague went with the Beast Burger. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their selection. The temperature of my lasagna could have been a tad hotter, but it wasn't enough of an issue to send it back. I would order it again. Service was good throughout our visit, but I am deducting one star for the noise level. The high ceilings give the restaurant a beautiful lodge look and feel, but they make for a very loud dining experience. The sound level at times was more like a school cafeteria in my opinion. Perhaps a table on the side of the dining room would be quieter where nearby walls could help absorb some of the noise. Bottom line: not the place for a quiet, romantic dinner.
