I was staying at a hotel nearby and because I had an evening flight, I had time to walk around the Woodfield Mall in Schaumburg and get boba here upon recommendation from a friend. I gave the benefit of the doubt despite low ratings on Yelp. I got the creation+ which you can customize 3 flavors mixed together for your own drink, and with tax, it came out to more than $9. That's super super steep for a boba drink in itself, but what's worse is that the drink wasn't even that good. I got almond + coconut + milk tea, and I opted for less ice (got) and less sugar (well they can't...) but I saw the worker literally scoop 3 different powder things and mix it altogether. At least make it more legitimately if you're charging this much? The boba fortunately was complimentary but they give a stingy amount, or you pay another $0.70 extra which brings the drink to almost $10! The boba wasn't even that good; it was mushy and on the softer side. Overall, a bit underwhelmed by the high price and low quality here. read more

I used to visit Chill Bubble Tea all the time when I was younger, so a couple years ago. Felt like giving it a go again except this time I picked a more coffee like flavor. Not the best but I got used to it. I'd recommend all the fruit ones and other creations. I got regular boba as well, I'd give it a 3/5 I've definitely had better but i'm not complaining since it didn't ruin the drink. We just got done eating a massive meal and were wanting some dessert. Being that it's a bit late at night and that rolled ice cream joint was closed, we went for the next best thing. There wasn't much of a line, so we got to order right away. We got our drinks right away as well. I had my husband select our shared drink that night and he went with taro coconut, which is our go to drink at places like this. The coconut didn't really surface at all. There was a minute hint of coconut, but not the full blend that I was looking for. The tapioca pearls were pretty fresh, right consistency and chewyness I look for in bubble tea. You can also ask them for more or less of their mixtures as there's times it can get to be a bit too sweet. It's a little space in the Woodfield Mall. There were times that there would be a line waiting for your turn. You get to watch people make your smoothies. If you check in with Yelp or Foursquare, then you would get 10% off your order! I wish the cups would be a but more sturdier. It's hard to hold it to avoid it slipping through your hands. But at least the top is sealed and not a rim cap top that can pop off or leak out your drink. I would only come here if I'm at the mall for something else. You could say I moved to IL just so I can be closer to Chill Bubble Tea. My husband and I visit the Chill Bubble Tea on the upper level of the JC Penney wing since it's closer to an exit/entrance. The staff working there is so friendly and always answer my questions that I have about the drinks there. During the busier hours, they work quick to make everyone's drink. They label all of their products and their drinks have descriptions in the store. We ordered the Lemonicious (my favorite) and the Orange Starburst, part of the creations menu. The Lemonicious has lemon and pineapple while the Orange Starburst has mango, orange and watermelon. Both of them had a slushie consistency; I think most of the creations menu is a slushie format. You can add bobba to the drink; if you look to your left, they have a display of the other additions you can add to your drink. You can get a 16 oz ($5.15) or the 24 oz ($5.75). I knew that there was a bubble tea shop somewhere in this mall so I looked for it and luckily found it! I was really excited to get some bubble tea because I haven't had some in a while. I've recently just came back to Chicago from California to visit. Back in California, I would get bubble tea a couple times a week and I would get my usual: mango green tea with boba. When I found this place, I found that the employee behind the counter wasn't very friendly. I didn't like the way she gestured. She used her hand to come and order instead of verbally saying it which I thought was rude. After I ordered, I waited a couple of minutes to get my bubble tea. I already had a feeling that it wasn't going to be great because I saw them use powder... POWDER! In California, they used REAL fruits! I finally got my drink and I immediately was disgusted when I took that first sip. It had such a bad after taste too! I was relying on the tapioca to disguise the horrible flavor. They have EXCELLENT big tapioca pearls!! I think the tapioca can make or break a bubble tea. The worst bubble tea I've had were ones with under cooked or hardened tapioca balls *gag*. I usually order the Avocado flavored bubble tea, which tastes nothing like avocado. And if you've had the avocado one from Joy Yee's, it tastes nothing like that either. In the beginning, it was the greatest tasting drink I've had in a while. I'm not sure what was in the green powder that they used for the flavor, but it was sweet and has a different taste to it from anything else. Lately, though, they haven't been tasting the same. I'm not sure if they changed the mixture or if my taste buds got bored of it. The service leaves much to be desired at times. It's strange, if you're there on a slow night, you have to wait by the counter because the cashier is in the back room. I'm tempting to bring my own bell so I can ring it to get their attention.
