One of my favorite bubble tea places the only thing that I don't enjoy are the prices the basic flavors are around 5 for a large but I usually get the creations with mango and pineapple and it costs around 7 which I'm definitely not a fan of so if you're looking for a cheaper option I would go to coffee Haus or gravitea. Only a select few of the bubble read are made with real fruit and they are more expensive than the regular made with powder version. I ordered a large bubble tea smoothie with real fruit pineapple and kiwi. I went for the large since it was only 20 cents more. Yelp also provided me with a 10% off coupon which was nice. I was out of there for under $5. The service was great and super friendly. I really enjoyed my bubble tea. I just really dislike the location. I would only go here if I am already shopping at woodfield. Oh and I was super impressed by the machine that caps your drink. I used to go to the Chill on Greenwood (was it Greenwood? It turned into another place several years ago, sorry.) ages ago, as a fun place to stop and have bubble tea while out riding. Enjoyed the chill-out atmosphere and comfy couches to sit and sip your bubble tea. This Chill is a stand inside Woodfield Mall. There are mall benches if you want to sit, but it's definitely not the same. I've only tried one bubble tea variety there so far, but was pleasantly surprised because it was HORCHATA BUBBLE TEA. This location offers some random, unexpected special flavors, in addition to old stalwarts like your milk teas and fresh fruit bubble teas and avocado and the like. The day I went, they offered tiramisu and horchata. I asked the guy behind the counter if he'd ever tried the horchata, and he said he hadn't. I decided I couldn't pass up the opportunity, so I ordered one. A few minutes of blending later, he slapped the cup in the sealing machine and handed it over. Very cinnamony, and very delicious. Boba were perfect; neither undercooked nor overcooked, just that pleasant, yielding texture of good tapioca balls. BALLS. It doesn't taste exactly like the horchata you get at your favorite Mexican restaurant, but it does taste quite good, so I can definitely live with it. :) read more

I was pretty skeptical about this place and their boba because (1) I'm from SoCal so I'm pretty picky about my boba (tapioca pearls) and (2) I failed to find a boba spot while I was the city. My nephews and I bumped into this spot during a random afternoon trip to Woodfield Mall. We were pretty excited since finding a boba spot is like finding a needle in a haystack out there. The quality was surprisingly good. Maybe it's because I'm not used to having fresh, quality ingredients being used. It's a little bit on the pricey side, but for the quality it's very worth it. The options on their menu are pretty basic but they make it work. I was reading through some of the other reviews and people have complained about them being understaffed. I'm a simple girl who grew up in a city known for baseball, toasted ravs, gooey butter cake, that giant inverted catenary some call the Arch and homemade frozen custard commanding lines the length of a football field. My go-to concrete flavor at Ted Drewes? Marshmallow - forget chocolate, swirls, sprinkles or other edible dazzlers - just plain marshmallow. So imagine my excitement when I quickly eyeballed Chill Bubble Tea on my way out of Woodfield mall and noticed the Marshmallow Puff flavor bubble tea sign. Fine: for this, I can endure another two minutes in the shopping hell (yes, hell) of fame. The sweet, mildly rich concoction didn't stand a chance. By the time I reached the Des Plaines Oasis, it was all gone... I struggled to coax the remnants from the cup but cheap engineering put a premature end to the cause. Really, really gross. The boyfriend and I stopped in Woodfield's Apple Store and on the way out I picked up a strawberry smoothie from here. It was 60% ice, 30% syrup, and maybe four strawberries. I freaking love the Nearby function on the Yelp app. I can't tell you how many awesome places I've discovered just because Yelp thinks I would like it. I was sitting in the middle of Woodfield Mall thinking about how I can no longer afford half of these stores due to my new "budget" that leaves very little (no) money for shopping. I was about to have a mild meltdown until Yelp said "You know what? You're a great person that deserves good things in life. You should go for a bubble tea right now." To which I replied, "You're absolutely right, Yelp. Let me go find this place." The menu is huge. It's hard to decide which flavor to get because there's just so many choices. However, when I saw the chai bubble tea, it was settled. I asked the girl working if all the smoothies include the tapioca pearls or if I had to pay extra (looking back, this seems like a dumb question but whatevs) and she said they were included. I did see a little sign on the register that said there's an extra charge for the flavored bobas (kiwi, strawberry, etc) I was also promised a free smile that I never got. Hmmm... The bubble tea itself was really delicious. It was creamy and blended really nicely--no ice chunks at the bottom! The tapioca and chai paired really well together, so I'll have to order this more often. I hate coming here and forgetting the most important thing... THEY DON'T TAKE THE STAMP CARD HERE!! Also, the past two times I've been here there's been something off about their particular bubble tea. The worst of which has been last time which has been that the bubble tea was not at all frozen, it was all just a liquid mush that was lacking on its normal flavor. And with the little plastic thing on the top you don't get as much product as you would if you would go to another establishment with a cap. I know that people are raving here, but if you haven't experienced Chill at other locations you can't see what you're missing! I have known about this place for awhile, and I knew that I would love it when I eventually tried it. But I didn't because it is a good 30 minutes from my house, it is annoying to park in the JC Penney parking lot and make a trek through prom dresses and a perfume counter to get a bubble tea. I had a bad day that started out a dentist's office and I needed a reward for being such a trooper. I found myself only about 15 minutes from Chill, and this was my ticket to tapioca. There were lots of choices, not as many as Joy Yee - but they had my favorite (almond) and others that I had never even imagined. Some were made with fresh fruit, some weren't. I ordered a large almond with tapioca and a couple of minutes later I was presented with heaven in a cup. Years ago I had gone and visited a friend in Texas. It was there that I discovered bubble tea like this. The kind that comes in all sorts of flavors and is sealed with a plastic lid. I instantly fell in love and haven't found anything similar...until now. This was near identical to my Texas bubble tea and fear consumed me. I would be driving 30 minutes away to get my fix many more times. I am planning my next visit right now in my head. I want to branch out and try more flavors - but I don't know if I can give up the almond. I hear that there is a punch card and a Yelp check-in offer. The bubbles are frozen. The girl that worked there told me that they use a non-dairy powder milk substitute for the blended drinks. I thought that was gross but maybe normal for bubble tea places since she was so honest about the answer. So I opted for the fresh fruit smoothie and they actually used real fruit (hence the name). My thoughts? Eh, it sufficed for the bubble tea addict in me. I had the Purple Oreo and the Tiramisu. The Purple Oreo was just a basic taro bubble tea. There didn't seem to be anything "Oreo" about it. I mean it was good and all, I like taro bubble tea, but I didn't see what made it Oreo. The tiramisu was absolutely delicious! I wish more places had that flavor. The tapioca pearls were cooked well, but were completely flavorless. Other places I've been to have somewhat sweetened pearls, but this tasted like absolutely nothing, making it odd to chew on. That's not even to mention how incredibly stingy they were with the tapioca. There was barely any in my drinks. If not for the delicious tiramisu and taro (because I'm still trying to figure out the Oreo part...and yes, I'm well aware of what purple Oreo is supposed to be), this would only get two stars. The customer service was pretty poor. My first visit, I attempted to get both drinks together. One thing about me and bubble tea: I never order just one drink. Here's how the conversation went: Me: I'd like a large Purple Oreo with tapioca and... Guy behind counter: $4.31! Me: Um...ok... Yep, he actually interrupted me to practically shout the price at me with a look that made it clear there wasn't going to be anything other than the one drink. Ok then. I actually went back later that night as I was determined to get the tiramisu. I walked up to the counter only to be "greeted" by a clearly unhappy young woman who just stared at me. I ordered a tiramisu bubble tea. The response... "Do you want tapioca in it?" Um, well, that's what the BUBBLE part of bubble tea is, so yes I do. It was pretty much thrust at me once it was done being made. She and the other girl there just looked incredibly uphappy, borderline annoyed/upset at having to be there. What an odd experience with rude employees. The place was also pricey. The $4.31 for the large purple oreo...a dollar more for the same size tiramisu. Not really sure why it was more expensive. Ok, I don't get the whole name/incorrect grammar thing, "Chill Bubble Tea"...one star deducted for that. =P While there are a variety of malls me and my gf can stop by to shop, we often come to Woodfield just so we can swing by here and grab some drinks. I have yet to have a bad one yet. The strawberry/banana bubble tea is great, although lately I have been getting the milk tea which brings back some childhood memories. I definitely have to say the quality of ingredients is the best yet, they use nothing but real and fresh fruits. Also, their tapicoa is the best I've had. I have to agree with Misty S., bad tapioca ruins the bubble tea experience and I've never had a bad pearl here. It's so good here we've been tempted to just buy a cup of tapioca! =P All in all this is a great place to swing by if you're at the mall and grab a great drink. I am absolutely livid with the customer service, if you can even call it that. The girl who was working today (brown hair that I believe was curly but I can't be sure since it was up) was rude and cold. The customers in front of us were given tapiaco when they asked for none. She rolled her eyes and made a huge fuss about having to make a new one for them. The customer politely asked her why she had such an attitude about it and she just waved them off and said you can go now. Once it was our turn, I didn't even want to order but since we wanted for 10 minutes to be served, my friend and I ordered our drinks. I ordered a mango with tapiaco and my friend ordered a berry with no tapiaco. Well I'm sure you can guess.... my friend was given tapiaco in her drink. Why even ask if we want it or not if you aren't going to do the order as it was given? On top of that, I got no hello, no thank you, no type of acknowledgement of any sort. I am absolutely appalled that this girl is even allowed to work here with the attitude she gives the customers. I'm even more surprised there is customers that even want to be served. As for chill itself, I've had tons better and I will not be coming back ever again. Its a hot summer day, to have one worker only is a bit ridiculous. ETA: I went back to Chill and although the service was better, tapiaco was out which I guess is understandable if it was only out for a bit but it was out for an hour which makes me think there needs to be better preparations. Rightfully so, because I am a big fan of bubble tea, and any place that sells bubble tea better expect to see my glowing happy smiling face very soon, because that'll be the siren song. And any place that sells bubble tea, I am a fan of, fair and square. About this place though, the guy who took my order of Taro bubble tea was so nice and courteous. He really made me feel welcome. I purchased a small taro bubble tea which cost me about $3.80 or something like that thanks to the little blue booklet, the Passport to Savings, that the mall offers. I got 10% off my bubble tea purchase, but nevertheless, if I had to pay 10% more than the original price, it wouldn't have made me change my mind on it. Bubble tea is bait for me. Since I ran to the mall when it opened so I could pick up some items I needed before the rest of the day, I kind of forgot to eat. Before leaving, I stopped here to get some yummy in my tummy. I decided to get the Orange Creme classic. It wasn't really yummy. The flavor was good, but not amazing. The balls were disappointing. Half the tapioca balls were hard and/or shriveled up. I was willing to forgive the flavor, but I can't forget the balls. I'm glad this location is exposing people to bubble tea in the mall but I've had sooo much better elsewhere. read more

A lovely cup of tea, in a slightly out of the way wing of Woodfield. It's worth the trek. Chill Bubble Tea does bubble tea. In fact, bubble tea is all it does. The shop is simple, sleek and clean, though it's nice to eye the giant tubs of tapioca in front of the shop. Their unique "thing" is to offer combinations of flavors for a few dimes more, which is how I ended up with a strawberry shortcake bubble tea (almond, vanilla, strawberry). They also have flavored tapioca, which I'll try later. In short, the smoothie part was nice and fresh, and the tapioca was perfectly cooked - a bit chewy but mostly tender. I was done with it on my way out of the parking lot. I'm definitely looking forward to coming back for another lychee-containing flavor; and I'm definitely ready to have some flavored tapioca as well. read more

After my first bubble tea experience years ago in San Francisco I was on a mission to find a bubble tea place in Chicago without having to haul myself to Chinatown. I was pretty excited to find out at Woodfield...especially since it is about 8 minutes away from my house! I have managed to make it to Woodfield once a week for this delicious smoothie treat. You can get your drink in almost any flavor with or without tapioca. If you like coconut you will really enjoy this flavor. I've tried the watermelon and it's not really my fav. It tastes like a jolly rancher...kinda too sweet for my liking. I have found a new addiction and don't mind telling everyone how wonderful it is. Thanks to groupon I manage to snag a large for only $3 bucks! And they have a "rewards" card. Buy 6, get the 7th free! Next week I shall try strawberry. read more

So, I checked in through Yelp because sometimes I actually remember, and I got a voucher for some percent off! I think it was 10 but still, that's a good deal for doing pretty much nothing! They have a lot of choices, but the service is kind of slow. They had two girls working. One would take a bout 3-4 orders and set up the blenders with the ingredients and the other would work on them one at a time. It's probably just because it's so popular, but nonetheless, you might wait in line depending on when you show up. They have the cool little machine that heat seals the lid on top which you then get to poke with a colored straw of your choice. FUN read more

It's probably my fault for picking the weird flavors, but somehow I'm never fully satisfying my bubble tea cravings when I go to Chill. It makes me sad inside. Their tapioca is sub-par...sometimes frozen chunks or too chewy (aka hard as rocks). I tried a coconut Thai tea and it was pretty good actually, especially since I had no idea what I was getting myself into with the Thai tea...I was informed that it was like a black tea and opted in...but asked for a good flavor to mix in. I wanted watermelon...but deep down I knew that wouldn't work. I always want the weirdest mixtures. The girl working there told me to go with coconut and I did. Good flavor pairing. I saw this place as I was walking through Woodfield mall. I've seen other places advertise bubble tea but I had no idea what it was. I'm still not sure that I do. I told the guy working there I had no idea what bubble tea was. He asked if there was a particular flavor I liked. Being a strawberry addict, that was easy. What I got a strawberry icee with some chewey nuggets of tapioca at the bottom. I'm still not clear on where the tea comes in to this. Confusion aside, it was very strawberryey and tasted pretty good, although a bit on the sweet side. The tapioca - I'm still not sure. Not really any flavor. Just a chewey bit of goo. My wife is a big fan of bubble tea so we tried this place when we went to Woodfield Mall. We ordered 2 large and 1 original (small) bubble tea, however, we ended up getting 3 small bubble teas. The guy who made bubble teas were insisting that we ordered small ones, however, he was not the one who took our order and it was because of the communication between the cashier and the guy. And the taste of the milk bubble tea was mediocre. The milk bubble tea was a slush type, so if you are a fan of a real milk bubble tea in liquid type, you should make it sure before the order.
