Sometime you just need to step back to a simpler time...This tiny 50's inspired joint was right on our route from Jackson Hole to Cheyenne and I knew the girls would love it. We were in good company with Elvis, Marilyn, James and Betty Boop. The kiddos were bopping along to the tunes of the era which was cute. They offer 1/2 lb burgers & fries, grilled cheeses, over a dozen different types of hotdogs in those classic red baskets with black and white checkered paper which brings you back to the good old days. They have flavored cream sodas, milkshakes and impressive towering banana splits too. There's not much for the calorie conscious here except a salad, but that's obviously not why most people head here. The girls loved their cheese fries, salad, fried pickles which they grew fond of in Nashville and I even let them splurge on "The Elvis", a Chocolate and PB, banana sundae of course. So huge they barely ate it, but enjoyed what they did. Our waitress was super sweet. Prices were reasonable. 3.5 stars as the selection for me was non existent. read more

We were on a road trip with family members from all over the USA and we found this jewel in the middle of Wyoming. The 3 ladies are AMAZING and the food was outstanding! Everything is made from scratch including their sauces and dressings. The service is out of this world. I wish we could have a place like this in Colorado. Great job ladies! read more

An unexpectedly incredible spot! We discovered while road tripping through Wyoming and enjoyed the best cheeseburger in years. Fries were also similarly amazing. Portions are HUGE, so be ready to eat! They also have gluten-free buns, another great bonus as my partner has celiac. Also, friendly service and they were happy to take our (+ serve us) outside so we could eat in open air. Wish this place were closer to California! read more

It took a little while for our order to be made as they had a full dining room and multiple take-out orders but the food was hot and fresh when it came out. Oh my, we were full after a tasty dinner from the Chill Grill. Shakes, cheeseburgers and onion rings - all excellent! Burgers were thick handmade char grilled patties. Onion rings are the big - almost juicy - kind and they give you a generous serving with each burger for just $1.99. Leftovers the next morning in hotel microwave were still good. That's when you know it's quality food. I had the butterfinger shake made with chocolate ice cream instead of vanilla since they were out. Rest of family had Oreo shakes. My wife couldn't finish hers so I got bonus shake . The decor is a fun 50s diner theme with records and images of Elvis, Buddy Holly and Marilyn Monroe, though we took our food to go en route to SLC. I'd happily return to their new location (I chatted them up...they're moving soon to larger location) next time we're driving through. I'm glad we found this cool joint. One more thing...the woman who helped me on the phone and made our shakes when I arrived, Shana I think was her name, was very friendly. So was the guy who rang me up. Nice folks. read more

Great dessert menu with lots of throw back items reminiscent of a classic soda shop. We tried the burger and chicken strips and they both were less in quality than expected. We love all the dishes we ordered--- Mac and cheese, chili cheese fries, chicken steak dinner (this was perfectly made---chicken was crispy on the outside and tender juicy on the inside. Gravy was flavorful and not overly salted.), Cheese burger and sundae. The fries were a little bit soggy. This is a perfect stop right off i80. A gluten-free bun for my great cheeseburger and GF fries and sweet-potato fries. I'm in heaven. Because I have celiac disease, I was worried by an earlier diner's experience getting a regular bun after ordering GF. However, I was encouraged by management's responses to posts, so decided to give it a try. Wait persons were attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. The burger was delicious here. They have a burger bar where you can add your own lettuce, tomato, pickles, and onion. The fries have the potential for being amazing, but I prefer mine cooked a little longer. I ordered a small cup of red chili which was similar to the chili my mom used to make. It was good but I prefer my chili to have more heat. The atmosphere and service is great! read more

This review cones late. My wife and I were on the road in March 2020 for a western road trip. Because of COVID we turned around in Rock Springs. We were hungry for a good burger. Luckily we found Chill Grill. We both had a cheeseburger. My wife had fries and I had onion rings. We agreed that the burgers were perhaps the best burgers we had ever had and we are in our mid-70s--that's a lot of burgers. Service was excellent as well. Highly recommended. read more

I stopped here because it seemed safe (I have celiac) according to reviews. The waitress messed up 3/4 of our orders, including serving my burger on a wheat flour bun. I was very, very clear that my meal needed to be gluten free. When I ordered, in addition to asking several questions about getting gluten free food, I even said "please inform the chef I have celiac and cross-contamination in an issue." I didn't notice until I'd already taken a bite. Thanks to this waitress who clearly really messed up her job, I've been in pain for a week and it'll be weeks more before I fully recover. Worst burger ever. The waitress comped my meal, but my friends still overpaid for food that was slow to arrive, mediocre, and had to wait while I had to force myself to vomit in the restroom. As a former employee please heed my word do not eat here ever the service is good but the fries are soggy the food is often times rotten and served well cooked to hide it noting is sanitized properly the water buckets used to while tables and the counter tops are often only water and are not changed out throughout the day no sanitary efforts are made to keep people healthy ice cream is handled with un gloved and un washed hands ( i was the only server who washed her hands after serving and cleaning tables) the kitchen staff is often in sandals and pajamas and two of the cooks are running a prostitution business out of the back doors one of the male cooks smokes weed out back and many many times have I seen the cooks cut mold off of bread and serve it please do not eat here EVER read more

YUM!! My husband and I travel I-80 through Wyoming A LOT and are constantly on the look out for a good place to eat on this route. And I am always in search of the best burgers as I am kind of an addict. This is a place we will come to again and again. Chill Grill is a 50's style diner that sells burgers, hot dogs, and shakes. For all three of these you can get them dressed up with just about any flavor combination you can imagine! All burgers, sandwiches and hot dogs come with fresh, hot fries. I ordered a burger with grilled onions, American cheese, and - get this - brown gravy! Combined with a bun that tastes like a fresh, buttered roll this burger makes my top 5 list of best I've ever had. The best part - the owner has Celiac disease and so has set up the kitchen to cater to customers with gluten allergies. We often travel with our friend who has Celiac disease and finding good road food that is conscious of allergies is difficult! She ordered a burger with the G-free bun and also rates it in her top 5! A total win all around. This is not fast food, though. It is a sit down, relax, and enjoy the moment kind of place. read more

If you are not Caucasian I do not recommend you go here. The looks I got and the service was very undesirable it got to a point where I felt uncomfortable to even be there. I soon as I got there the old waitress was greeting everyone that came in but not once did she even greet us. She attended every table except ours I don't know why it wasn't until a different staff took care of us. It's sad to see that racism still exists to this day. read more

We had an unexpected stop in this town and yelped the best food. This place came up as the highest rated option so we went for it. From the outside it's nothing fancy - but inside it's an adorable and clean diner-style restaurant & ice cream shop. Food was fresh and delicious - milkshake was awesome. I've stopped in Rock Springs many times for lunch while driving through Wyoming, and this is the best lunch I've had in Rock Springs yet. The burgers were a little pricey but you get a LOT of burger. I ordered mine with blue cheese and was impressed with the amount of cheese I got. The milkshake and dessert menu has so many options! Prices were very reasonable, and their own ice cream shop right in their restaurant, that could make any soda, malt, shake, sundae or boat, that your heart desired! Her excuse for everything being slow was "sorry we are packed" while the restaurant was half full with 3 waiters. My wife and I stopped here for lunch about halfway through or trip to Colorado. This is a great little diner with a 50s Rock n Roll theme and a great menu which included Fresh Ground Chuck burgers. Each patty is a half-pound and you can get a triple if you're hungry. Each comes with cheese and fries and you can build your own from there. We added bacon and avocado. Be aware that they plan to move soon. They are now about 1/4 mile north of I-80 and are moving to a new location just south of I-80. It may be worth a phone call to confirm their location. read more
