Updating my review because the prices are getting high. Almost $20 for two tacos and a tiny queso and stale chips. Tacos are good. Also, several times I've been here the soda fountains taste like pure mildew. It's time they need to change out their soda, fountain equipment. Definitely a health hazard. read more

I get tacos at Shamrock often. Last time it wasn't great but just ok. Today, however, it was awful. Ice cold. The cheese was still chilled from the fridge because the eggs and potatoes were not warm enough to take the chill off. Forget about melting. I always make it a point to stop here whenever I'm in Wimberley--hands down some of the best tacos around. You can build them exactly how you want, they don't skimp on the fillings, and everything comes out quick. We were excited to try this place as it had great reviews. They claim it's better than Mima's tacos. Sadly, NO. The tacos are full of rice, beans and cheese, very little chicken or carne guisada. The meat on both the chicken verde and carne guisada had ZERO flavor. I had to drown it in their mild green sauce. I will say the mild green sauce is really good and in my opinion, better than Mima's green sauce. The fish taco had flavor, but was cold. Sorry Shamrock's we won't be back. read more

as I sit & ponder how lucky we are to have a gas station that has a taco breakfast taco menu w/ 40 ( forty ) damn good, PINCH ME. The ladies back there are so friendly, fast, & efficient! It's like going home to Mexico. In my case it's like going back to Austin. The forty (40) tacos are all so good. I've only tried 23, but the Tuesday is my go to. Chorizo, egg, & the kicker, cheese! The Ranchero is not for the weak. Fried egg, bacon, queso, bean, fajita, brisket.. The Cabo fish one !! Right now I'm hooked on the Big Peep. Sausage, chorizo, rice, slaw, & pepper jack. Yikes! The egg was either powdered egg recooked or over dried serious chopped scrambled egg. The bacon was pre cooked and stacked and broken into the egg. The place has lots on the menu to choose from. The chorizo and egg was bc the spices in the chorizo helped the dried out egg. The service was fast and the employees are friendly. The ambiance is cool and there are plenty of tables and chairs to eat. Can't speak in the other food bc I didn't try it. Saw one dude with nachos (looked like round thick Tostitos) and that looked decent. What could be better would be slow down don't over cook the eggs! read more

I dunno why people would hate on this place. It's terrific! Tacos go for $2-5 but you really only need two for a meal (okay, three of you're hungry). I got the migas taco and the cowgirl. My SO got the big peep and the Cabo taco. It wasn't too busy so we got our tacos in 5-10 minutes. The first thing that stuff out about these tacos was that they were loaded! Each taco is so substantial.. Migas - basic taco with what you'd expect. I used a lot of salsa to liven it up. Cowgirl - really filling and a bit messy. The pepperjack queso is a bit saucy. Big peep - tasty mix of things, again the queso smothered and caused the tortilla to fall apart Cabo taco - excellent! Would recommend this for sure! The fried fish is crispy and soo good! Keep in mind, this is a gas station and I have lived in Wimberley for 8 years and this is the first time eating here. They have a large menu with all sorts of tacos and hamburgers. I'd only heard of the fish taco and it was excellent. I also got a Californian which had fried avocado...though messy, it was also delish. Every time I go through Wimberley, I make a point to stop for tacos at Shamrock. The menu is FULL of choices, and I have never been disappointed. They put things together that I never would have thought of, and the results are AMAZING! Like the Craigo that's fajita, slaw, onions, peppers. I CRAVE that one. WISH I lived closer! I learned today that Wimberley has very few options for breakfast other than tacos. Especially on a Wednesday when the only decent breakfast place (Wimberley Cafe) is closed. So we resorted to this spot with rave reviews of the breakfast tacos. And they are good for sure. But if your looking for a quaint breakfast spot in the beautiful small town of Wimberley, this is not it. If your taking tacos to go somewhere else, then this is a great option. We spend weekends in wimberley and love these tacos!! Online ordering is easy and everything we've tried is great and our order is always correct. Tacos are big - 2 is plenty for one person. What was once a good place is now unfortunately run by monsters who prey on the meek and underserved when they are trying to give them business. Honestly expected the tacos to be just normal gas station tacos, but man they're packed to the brim with goodies. Everything we got was delicious - especially the Barbacoa and the fish tacos.
