My partner and I ordered the 20 piece wings to share for dinner and went with the yang yum flavor. The sweet chili gochujang sauce was incredibly flavorful and had the perfect balance of sweet + savory, garlicky, and just the right amount of heat. Loved how perfectly crispy it was despite it being a saucy wing. The service was friendly, our food came out quickly, and they have a good amount of outdoor seating out front if you want to enjoy the weather. Safe to say this hit the spot. My husband and I had the K Deluxe Burger, and the chicken was cooked perfectly. Crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and well seasoned. The owner was there and couldn't have been more welcoming. On a nearly 90-degree day, he even brought us Korean grape juice while we were eating, which was such a thoughtful touch. We also sampled the wings, and they were outstanding. Perfectly cooked with a great sauce, and I really appreciated that they stayed crispy and weren't soggy at all. Ordered a pretty substantial takeout spread from Chimmelier: two 10-piece wing orders, an 8-piece drum and thigh combo split between the Hot Chili and Original OMG flavors, tteok-kochi, pickled radish, plus extra Chimmy sauce and homemade ranch. Unfortunately, the chicken itself was a bit of a letdown. Across the board, it was much drier than expected -- even the thighs, which are usually the safest bet for juicy fried chicken. The Hot Chili flavor in particular didn't do much to overcome the dryness. The highlights of the meal were definitely the Honey Butter wings and the Original OMG chicken. The Honey Butter seasoning delivered that addictive sweet-and-savory flavor that Korean fried chicken does so well, while the Original OMG had the best balance of flavor and texture of everything we ordered. The tteok-kochi was okay, and the pickled radish provided a welcome break from all the fried food. The homemade ranch was also surprisingly good. It's not a traditional ranch and had a bit of a bite to it -- maybe horseradish? Whatever it was, it worked. I have to call shenanigans on the YouTube and TikTok reviewers who have been hyping this place up. Maybe you have to be Jack to get a decent chicken thigh. Chimmelier- ROUND TWO! I came by for dinner and tried it out for the second time, this time, having it made to order. At 6pm on a Tuesday, I lucked out and found metered parking. I ordered 5 Yang'yum wings combo, with seasoned fries with a small order of shrimp toasts. Let me tell you, the portion was HUGE! Very generous serving and I had leftovers for lunch the next day. The wings were sauced up perfectly. The Yang'yum is sweet, not hot at all. They do have a spicy version of this sauce. The wings are crispy in the breading and the meat was moist. The shrimp toast may be a bit overcooked but it was delicious! I get it why it is popular. Chimmelier on Melrose is perfect for us in Mid City and don't have a chance to get to Koreatown. read more

Finally stopped by and I'm mad I didn't come sooner. How is this place not packed?? The fried chicken is so tender. Really juicy and well seasoned. I got the fried chicken burger and it was ONLY $8, which honestly shocked me for Melrose. Prices here feel very reasonable. Way lower than I expected!!! Chimmelier is a hit!! Super casual dining, fast food style but homey. Parking for this location is on the street like any other LA spots. Very small spot but if you avoid lunch and dinner times you will be solid! The service is very good with thorough menu explanation and they don't rush you :) their chicken combo is great as well as the SHRIMP TOAST!!! Must try. I was so excited to try Chimmelier after having another location bookmarked for so long, but unfortunately my experience was disappointing. It was slow. In a near empty restaurant our order still took over 30 minutes. Our food finally came out and looked amazing. Bit into a fry and it was cold. The outside was nice and hot and crispy, but the inside was still cold/frozen. They graciously took it back and made another batch, but it was a rocky start after a long wait. As a big fan of Korean fried chicken, I'm sad to say the chicken wings were not good. The wings were well fried and crunchy, but were severely under seasoned and the batter was super dry and powdery, like there was too much flour or corn starch. I think they forgot the salt. The yangyum sauced wings were better, but still couldn't mask the bland chicken meat inside. The good-The chicken sandwich is great and really saved the meal. It was huge and came with juicy chicken that was well seasoned and had unique burger toppings. The workers were friendly and the space is a chill hangout spot. Ventured out to try this restaurant on a night that I had a huge craving for Korean fried chicken and I wasn't disappointed! Chimmelier was easy to locate and parking was no issue. We walked in and were immediately greeted by the staff who were super nice and explained how we could either order with them or through the screen. Food was delicious! We ordered the 8 piece chicken wings with fries. The sauces were the star point and I loved trying each one to see which one paired better with my chicken and fries. I'm not sure if I just got a bad batch of chicken, but my food was borderline inedible. I had not heard of Chimmelier until I saw an internet post describing someone's experience at their newest location. While they also have a spot near MacArthur Park, this branch is on Melrose Avenue. Once I entered, I was impressed by the colorful interior design and ample seating space. The customer service was also friendly though ordering was via a touchscreen. I got the OG K-Popcorn chicken combo which came with fries and a soda. The quantity of food was more than enough for one meal, and I appreciated having chicken leftovers to take home. It comes with a delicious sauce that reminds me of raising canes sauce, but it's better in my opinion. We also tried the garlic aioli, which was really good with the fries. You can dine in and they'll take your order at the table, or you can order to go on the kiosk. They offer other Korean street food snacks, chicken sandwiches, and fried chicken. Cheese wasn't melted and just tasted off.: The chicken was all super yummy, personally I'm just not a big sweet chicken fan. The honey butter is pretty sweet, didn't take much like the honey butter I was imagining but still good. It's quite a wet sauce and found it to be more wet than the wings. It was pretty expensive here compared to other spots... It's bold to call themselves the best Korean chicken in LA on their package when they just opened but still a nice place and I would go back to dry a dry rub option for sure. They give you old chicken and old fries that are reminence of eating at the hospital cafeteria.I'm sure the k-town location is a lot better but this honestly was horrible. The OG wings had like no salt or seasoning at all and tasted like they haven't change the oil in weeks. I'm sure the dude at subways who cleans the toilet, mops the floor, and makes your sandwiches on night shift could do better. Heard of it when I went to eat at Jilli (its sister restaurant I think? Also amazing) but took me a minute to finally try it. Got it delivery and I didn't even eat it immediately so it wasn't fresh but honestly the best fried chicken sandwich I've ever had in la or like... Ever. Maybe I'm biased cause I'm Asian and the flavors match my pallette but ughhhhhh it was so good. I basically drank the sauce but the chicken on its own with the seasoning was so fire. The chicken was crispy but not heavy and the burger was not oily. I was honestly just blown away. Price was also super fair I was shocked. The K-Chicken Burger was probably my favorite -- really solid flavor with the perfect amount of kick. The Nurungji Tongdak was also really good; they're definitely more known for the fried chicken, but the whole rotisserie chicken held up. Loved the wings and both were a 10/10. Personally the Honey Butter were my fav but I love chicken wings with small honey sweetness so I can add some Louisiana Hot Sauce or Crystal. The popcorn chicken was a 8.5-9 but still better than most KFC spots in Ktown. He threw in some other sauces for free and I'm so glad he did because never in a million years would I have ordered the Rose (creamy tomato) and its honestly my fav. I ordered from Chimmelier Korean Fried Chicken on Postmates and got the K-Popcorn Chicken and the Drums & Thighs (Galbi Soy Garlic flavor). I first tried Chimmelier's chicken at Jilli and loved it, so I decided to order for delivery. Honestly, the quality felt a bit better when I had it at Jilli, even though it's supposed to be the same chicken. That said, it was still really good -- super crunchy with great flavor and a tasty batter. One small thing I noticed: about half of the popcorn chicken pieces were heavily breaded while the other half weren't as much. It still tasted great, just a small inconsistency. The drums and thighs were delicious -- the Galbi Soy Garlic flavor was amazing, really rich and savory. The only downside was that they arrived a bit soggy and wet, but I'll chalk that up to delivery since it's hard to keep fried chicken crispy in transit. Overall, the food was flavorful and satisfying, and I'll definitely be back -- next time I'll go in person for the full, fresh experience!
