Wow! This place definitely lived up to the hype. One of the first things they bring to your table is an ice cold bottle of water, and I have to say that's a pretty classy touch. It was nice and refreshing while waiting for the food. I ordered the fried chicken sandwich with a side of mac and cheese, and both were excellent. The chicken thigh was huge, cooked perfectly, and had an amazing crunch on the outside while staying juicy inside. The brioche bun was soft and fresh, and the cabbage and kale slaw added a nice crunch. The sweet pickles and honey mustard gave it just the right amount of sweetness without taking away from the flavor of the chicken. The mac and cheese was just as good. It was creamy, cheesy, made with fusilli pasta, and topped with crispy panko breadcrumbs that gave it a nice little crunch. It was the perfect side to go with the sandwich. I'm really glad I got the chance to try Le Coupe while I was in town. How can I not? This viral spot is known for its massive Chili Honey Glazed chicken sandwiches and I couldn't resist the hype. My anticipation grew as I watch orders getting dropped off at nearby tables while I waited 45 minutes for my takeout. The sandwiches were beautifully assembled and the aroma filled the room made the wait feel even longer. Once I took my first bite, I found it to taste just fine. There's no way this is the "best chicken sando in LA" not by a mile! This is gentrified chicken at its finest. Surprised they need a chef to make this. Wow wow wow wowww. So good. We met up with friends for lunch at Le Coupe on a Sunday and were not disappointed. Everything was delicious and the staff were kind and helpful. The inside is fairly small with only a few tables. We were lucky to get there at a time where we didn't have to wait in line or for a table, but when we left the line was starting out the door. We tried the chicken sandwich, tender with the honey chili sauce on the side plus ranch and honey mustard, the potato salad, mac n cheese, blue corn bread, watermelon salad, and fried chicken skins. Small space with limited street parking. No line and easy to find seating on a Wednesday afternoon. About ~ 15 min to get our sandwiches which was told to us ahead of time while ordering - no prob. I think I was expecting the chicken to be spicy and less sweet based on the color, but it's definitely a very sweet forward marinade with no spiciness to it. I would rate it a 7/10. It's a really solid, tasty, and big juicy sandwich! I thought the coleslaw was really good. I wish it was a bit less sweet and had more kick. Mac and cheese was good, too. The portions were HUGE. The tenders were piping hot and tasty, the chicken sandwich was crispy and hot and slightly sweet. And the kale cabbage slaw was a very nice addition that added a cool crunch to the sando. The habanero ranch was SO good and the honey mustard wasn't really my taste. The Mac and cheese was spiral pasta, piping hot and so very rich and cheesy. Yum. Normally I'd be bothered when I get anything other than macaroni elbow noodles but this was too good to be critical. Came here the other day with my brother and nephew. We were definitely in for a treat. The restaurant itself is pretty small but the ambiance is still nice. It could get a little warm in there though. The lady behind the counter was extremely nice. She helped us out and gave us some great recommendations. We had the fried chicken sandwich, mac and cheese, corn ribs, blue corn bread, sweet tea to drink, and southern bread pudding for dessert. All of the food was delicious. The chicken sandwich was the star of the show of course however the blue corn bread and the corn ribs were also on another planet. It was so delicious and I wish I would have ordered more corn bread. This is a one of a kind chicken eatery. The only drawback is parking is challenging. Chicken sandwiches are humongous. I can never finish it. I did DoorDash. The prices at the location might be lower...at least it appears so when I go to their website. Here we go: Fried Chicken Sandwich ($18.95-Door Dash). One bite and it was like..." Are you kidding me!?" I thought my eyes were going to roll back in my head! Oh my gosh. So good. So juicy. Chicken perfection! Keep in mind it's a chicken thigh, so that's part of why it's not dry, but it's also because it's marinated for 24 hours. It's HUGE! It sticks way out of the large bun. Burgers are priced the same, and this is a way better! For a side, I had cabbage and kale slaw. ($5.95 Door Dash). It was good, but pro tip, the sandwich already has coleslaw on it, so it's redundant. Get another side instead. They have plenty of choices, like mac and cheese and potato salad. The corn ribs were honestly one of the most unique dishes I've had at a chicken food spot. It was my first time trying something like that, and they were so delicious. I am so glad I drove 3 hours for it and I was really hoping it wouldn't be for nothing! No wonder this place sold out of chicken when I was there. Chef Craig has found a way to make an elevated fried chicken burger with the perfect balance of sweet and spiced without relying on the hot chicken trend like Howlin Rays or other fried chicken joints. If you are expecting a spicy burger - thats not what this place is for. It's for phenomenal food and one of the best fried chicken burgers I have ever had. The kale and cabbage slaw is a revelation with a bright citrus punch. The bun is not overly sweet nor do they skimp on pickles in the burger. Definitely never skip the habanero ranch. It's phenomenal. The biggest surprise to me was not the fried chicken (Sorry Chef Craig!) The brown butter cookie was the standout to me along with the blue cornbread - apparently the recipe for the cookies is done exclusively by his wife. Cool tidbit is it won some Best Cookie Championship of 2024 where it beat out a bunch of other contenders to earn #1 (sorry, Levain!) These cookies were coming out fresh from the oven and were gooey, melty, and just the right amount of thickness. The blue corn bread? Don't skip it. Apparently it's done in some duck fat or made with duck fat and it's killer with the brown butter maple cinnamon (i think) spread. Overall - I am glad I made the trip. Now this is not your average fried chicken, no this is a chicken tossed in a honey chili coating. I opted for the tenders which come in 4 pieces. Each piece was produced from the thigh, making it denser and juicier. The chicken had a perfect crunch. It was sticky, so I opted for the silverware. It was a unique flavor that skews sweeter, so if you're not a fan of sweet this probably not for you. The blue cornbread was delightful. It tasted like cornbread, but a little more refined. The salt flake and butter that accompanied it just worked so well together. The Mac and cheese was standard. The panko bread crumb topping might have been a little too much. It "dried" the mouth feel. But beyond that topping it was top tier Mac and cheese. Parking is terrible in this part of the city. It's metered street parking or neighborhood. Le Coupe is easily the best fried chicken sandwich in LA. Our group of six ordered lunch from this cherished chicken shack, getting the Le Coupe all-star roundup. The menu at Le Coupe is short, and as any experienced foodie can attest - a restaurant that does a few items exceptionally well beats a restaurant with a longer menu any day. We ordered the iconic chicken sandwich ($15) - a truly massive chicken thigh, breaded, fried, and topped with a honey glaze. The chicken was juicy, the coating had a good crunch, and the entire ensemble was completed by a tangy, acidic slaw and a rich, slightly sweet bun and sweet pickles. The four massive tenders ($14) were similarly unforgettable. The watermelon salad ($14.25) was a delightful contrast. Sweet watermelon, pistachio dressing, creamy feta, and a balsamic vinaigrette - surgically administered via pipette - was refreshing and delectable. The corn ribs ($12.25), two quartered, roasted, and somehow curved ears of sweet corn were topped with a lime mayo and cheese. They were delicious and a unique presentation for such a classic complement. The Blue Corn Bread ($6) was similarly delicious and unique, paired with a molasses-infused butter. The mac and cheese ($6) and potato salad ($6) were also great, but less groundbreaking. The value provided for such phenomenal food cannot be understated; the chicken sandwiches and tenders are truly massive, filled me for two meals, and are at a jaw-dropping price tag for such quality. Truly, a sandwich of this quality and size would go for double the price or more at an established West Hollywood restaurant or similar. I cannot comment on the service or ambiance as we ordered out, but bonus points for the personalized, adorable package labeling. Is Le Coupe truly a cut above the rest? Yes. Is the hype real? Yes. I have been told that le coupe is one of the big 3 of chicken sandwiches, with the other two being daybird and howlin rays. Naturally, I had to check them out and see the hype. I got a fried chicken sandwich and corn ribs. The order took about 15 min to arrive. The corn ribs came first. I didn't realize there was cheese so I took awhile scraping it off since I cant eat cheese. The sauce was very strong and the corn ribs had a great crunchy texture. I've never had corn prepared this way and it was definitely an interesting appetizer. T read more
