Bulgogi Tacos
Bella S.

A very small restaurant along 3rd ave in the Beverly Grove area. Only metered-street parking available. The outside of the restaurant is nicely decorated, so it's easy to spot. The music they were playing was too loud to enjoy a meal there, so I got it to-go. You can order online, at the kiosk tablet or talk with a staff member to place your order. Right off the bat, I noticed that they do not list the price of the menu items on the menu. I ordered 2 tacos (Galbi and the Bulgogi) and OMGEE, my eyes were shocked to see the bill of $37.13. Anyway, since it's my 1st time here, I thought, "ok, let's just try it and see if the quality and/or portion justifies the price. 1. Galbi Tacos (3.5/5): Galbi is basically marinated short ribs that's diced up. The flavor of the meat itself was good - tender, flavorful and slightly charred. It is topped heavily with a bed of Cole slaw, onion, cilantro and some creamy, tangy mayo-like sauce. I think the amount of toppings outweigh the meat portions, so it's not well-balanced at all. 2. Bulgogi Tacos (3.5/5) Rating the bulgogi meat itself, I would give it a 4 out of 5 stars, as the thinly sliced rib eye was marinated well in the bulgogi seasoning, which is umami-rich, garlicky and nutty from the sesame oil & sesame seeds. Like the other taco, the ratio of meat to toppings (slaw, onion, cilantro) is off. Of note, the corn tortilla for the tacos were very dry and easily tore apart, so it made eating the tacos super messy and quite a pain since they do not give you any utensils. I ended up ditching the taco shells and just eating the insides. Lastly, the limes they gave me with my tacos were completely dried, rendering them useless to dress my tacos (smirk). Even though each taco order comes with 2 tacos, $18/order for street-taco truck quality tacos and where the amount of Cole slaw outweighs the amount of meat ... this is just a bit too much. Sorry to say, but I will not be coming back. There's too many other restaurants in the area competing for my business.

This place is adorable! Cutely decorated. The price of the food is on the higher end compared to other places (moonbowl next door; AYCE kbbq has a lunch special that is priced the same). We got a bulgogi bowl based on the cashier's recommendation on what was popular ($23.5 tax and tip not included). The portion of the bowl is pretty big and there was decent sized amount of meat in it. Inside the bowl was rice, bulgogi meat, kimchi, and an egg. The kimchi tasted fresh and was seasoned well. However, overall the food (bulgogi/rice/eggs) tasted average, nothing out of ordinary or mind blowing that warranted the price in my opinion, even with the bigger portion. Cute vibes, but quality of the food did not match the price. 3.5/5

Cute Korean fusion spot that's good for a casual lunch. I ordered the Bulghoagie since it was unique. I ordered for to-go and it was decent. The sandwich came with a ton of fillings of bulgolgi, slaw, pickled cucumbers, and wonton strips to name a few. The bulgolgi was standard quality. Sweet, chewy, moist, and a quality that you'd expect from a non-traditional Korean restaurant. The veggies were crisp which I liked. It was covered in this kimchi sauce which was good, but it was practically drenched in the sauce which I did not enjoy. The sandwich was also super messy and hard to eat. I wish they cut the sandwich after it was assembled, but the sandwich seemed like it was put together on sliced bread which made it hard to eat. The wonton strips were unique and provided and nice crunchy element. The server was super nice and accommodating. He also packaged my order well. The interior and exterior are also cute and nice. There's even wifi and outlets, so a spot to potentially work at. Overall, a decent experience here. I wouldn't go out of my way to come back, but would if I'm looking for a quick and casual lunch option in the area.

After an exhausting play date with the kids near the Beverly Center, we searched the location for some good food to enjoy. We found this Korean delicacy nestled just on 3rd street off Western blvd. The restaurant is small and if not for the rain we would have enjoyed our food outside in the front miniature patio. We ordered the Korean Chicken Sando, loaded fries (pictured), strawberry churro fries, and one of their delicious rice bowls. The food was spectacular with full Korean flavor. The sauce on the chicken and provided were not as spicy as advertised but still tasted very good. The food was very robust and filling. Prices were on the higher side but definitely worth it.

Been wanting to try this spot for a long while and finally while in town was able to stop in!!! Super cute small space but great energy and great vibes!!! Myself and my dog were promptly welcomed and he was immediately spoiled with some treats....Owner was so sweet welcoming and so personable!!! So many options she was able to help me narrow down my options to the bulgogi and avocado bowl! Unfortunately had to take it to go but pleasantly surprised how yummy and great mix of sweet, salty savory and avocados was a nice touch of a little creamy!!! Pickled kimchi pickles were a nice touch but only negative....Rice over cooked and a bit soggy Highly recommended!!!

Korean Fried Chicken Wings: Sweet & Tangy Side: Bap & Bird Elote
Jodi C.

Bap & Bird is serving up straight soul food with a Korean heartbeat. The chicken? Crispy perfection--glazed in a sauce that's equal parts sweet heat and umami, then showered in sesame seeds that add the crunch every bite deserves. The kind of flavor that makes you slow down mid-bite just to close your eyes and go, damn. But it doesn't stop there--side dishes like their creamy, sesame-crowned elote hit just as hard, balancing comfort with a kick. Every plate feels intentional, rooted in love, culture, and flavor mastery. Whether you're pulling up solo or rolling deep with friends, this is food built for sharing and built for storytelling. Bap & Bird isn't just a meal--it's an experience, a vibe, a memory in the making. Pull up. Bring an appetite. Thank me later.

From the outside, the café looks cozy and atmospheric. Inside it feels a bit hipster, though in some places already a little worn out. Service is great -- friendly staff, fast and welcoming. We ordered rice with meat and vegetables (hot option). The portion was big and nicely presented, but the taste was disappointing -- bland and spicier than expected. Both outside and inside could be cleaner: leaves, dust, shaky furniture. A big minus -- the restroom, which looks more like a storage room. Overall, it's a nice spot with good atmosphere and service, but food and cleanliness definitely need improvement.

Spicy Shrimp Bowl
Nooshi B.

I stopped in with my mom on a Wednesday evening to warm, friendly service from the woman working. She guided us through the menu and accommodated my mom's desire for a chicken bowl that wasn't spicy. I opted for the chili shrimp bowl. We sat outside and our food was brought out to us. Good portions and the food was tasty. I'd definitely come back to try some other items on their menu.

Let me first say the Korean Fried chicken tacos were delicious. I would've liked to try more things but I was on a time limit. The place itself is pretty small with just a few seats at the window counter inside and majority seating outside. While I could not see the food prep areas I wouldn't assume they were unclean, however. The general appearance of the place is like it just during, some paint chipping in places, there is something going with the ceiling above the door that the owner should fix. There's a dog bowl on the floor in case your fur baby is thirsty as well. I think they could stand to clean a bit more in my honest opinion. The only inside seating is on the window but the window frame is dirty. They could touch up the pair where it's chopped off. I'm not a fan of the concert floors but not much they can do about that except maybe epoxy. Clean and rough up the lower counter where shoes have hit them. There's just small things that could improve the visual of the space since it's so small. But again, the food is good, service is quick, people are friendly. I'd go back.

Great cute little cafe with korean street food. I tried their grilled cheese bulgogi sandwich. The meat was well seasoned and kimchi sauce was awesome. On top of that the service and overall cuteness was very good. Highly recommended

I had heard amazing things and was glad to see a gluten free option on their menu. I got it delivered, and was very tasty. I wish they also a gluten free beef option.

Tacos: Mushroom on L, Galbi on R (my friend and I each ordered a different entree and then traded).
alexandra k.

Limited seating -- 4 indoor (bar-like seating) and 3-4 small tables outside. Parking -- street. A lot of permitted parking in the area so factor in time to find a spot and walk over. The tacos come 2 to an order and no mixing and matching so my friend and I ordered different ones and traded so we could try a taco each. Korean BBQ Glazed Shroomz Tacos (special) and the Galbi. Of the two, I liked the Galbi best -- the meat was tender, veggies fresh, and the tortilla warm. The mushroom flavor didn't shine through for me.

- Small but cute - very clean - They also do catering - have a wide variety of drinks from soju, Modelo, to Evian, Sprite , Coke, Milkis, Peligrino, a taro drink, and beer Parking: Street parking (metered) only Food: 1) Galbi Taco: 10/10 - scrumptious - addicting sauce - flavorful juicy Galbi - cilantro, enough said 2) bulgogi mini quesadillas ($12): 9/10 - delicious, especially with their sauce - If there was a little more cheese, it would definitely push this to a 10 3) kimchi udon ($17): 10/10 - LOTS of bulgogi, I would even say it's probably 1:1 ratio of Meat: noodles - deep kimchi flavor and very umami - udon has the *perfect * texture - sunny side up egg with sesame seeds is *chefs kiss TLDR: will definitely come back again

I really wanted authentic Korean food that was not kbbq and not tofu and this place delivered! This restaurant is in a small strip mall. The strip mall has other Korean food options. They have a valet parking system of sorts but we didn't pay, we self parked. The attendant told us we were fine. It was approx 9pm when we arrived and also a week night. I have no idea how much valet parking is here. We were a small party of two. Upon arrival, we were notified they were out of RICE. Um..what?? That's a good problem (for them to have) but not for consumers. I feel this really limited our options to just soup. I honestly didn't want soup but there wasn't much else we could order. The bowls were large and came out piping hot. It was a satisfying meal and not too heavy. The price point was on the pricey side. Our waiter told us business has not been the same post covid. Some dishes are between $40-$60. I asked for a soup and they were able to make it less spicy. My friend got a soup with dumplings in it. He put a good amount of soy sauce to give the broth some life. Also, the banchan is on point. We asked for a refill and devoured the second portions. If you wanna impress friends with Korean food, bring them here! Its a casual place.

In fact, we regularly brought visitors here. They raved about how good the spare ribs were and even insisted that their last meal before LA should be at Ham Ji Park.  Here's my belated review of what I consider the best spare ribs in LA. From the moment the Korean-style spare ribs arrived at the table, it was clear this was a dish worth savoring. Each rib bore a beautifully charred exterior--deeply caramelized without a hint of bitterness--offering that irresistible smoky aroma the moment it was placed before us. The glaze was nothing short of spectacular. A perfect balance of sweet and spicy, it clung to the meat with a glossy sheen that promised flavor in every bite. There was just enough heat to make your taste buds sit up and pay attention, but it never overwhelmed the deeper, richer notes of the sweet components. But what truly set these ribs apart was the texture. Beneath the charred surface lay meat so tender it practically fell off the bone with the gentlest tug of a fork. Each bite was juicy and succulent, the result of careful cooking and a respect for quality ingredients. Ham Ji Park, you will be missed. Thank you for the memories. Thank you for the food.

If you're searching for some of the city's best pork, then those in the know will bring up Ham Ji Park. For 2 decades, generous platters of pork ribs and pork neck stew decked every table. Now, our Korean friends lament the loss of their favorite pork joint in the city. The Koreatown proper location is located in the Royal Plaza mini-mall, just a few blocks off bustling Wilshire. Discounted parking is available in a lot across the street from the Chevron gas station. From the street, the entrance is flanked by potted plants and an enclosed street-ery. Inside, stainless steel chairs are pressed up against wooden tables, each outfitted with a metal grill. Oppressive fluorescent lighting shines down on the stone grey walls, which are left undecorated apart from a few flatscreens. Multi-lingual chatter blends with the sizzle of platters. I visited with some friends for a weeknight dinner, and about half of the tables were occupied. We shared a spread of grilled platters and sizzling soups. The meal began with a carafe of barley tea and a mostly standard spread of banchan. Across our food, the best dish was the signature Charbroiled Pork Spare Rib. The ribs were flavorful without feeling gamey, and the meat was complemented by sweet caramelized onions. The pork ribs handily outdid the good-not-great Charbroiled Beef Short Rib. Lastly, the Milt and Cod Rose with Vegetables stew was fishy and briny, appropriately flavored for the Korean palate. The service was appropriately attentive, although I would've appreciated more intentional refills of our banchan ramikens. The rib plates cost upward of $35 each, while the soup was just under $30. The portions were hearty; a single entree platter could reasonably feed 2 moderately hungry bellies. It's a shame to hear that Ham Ji Park has closed; I'm kicking myself for not trying their pork neck stew earlier.
