This place is very blue collar. I mean this in the best way possible. On our way out I spotted a Samurai Showdown arcade game in the front that I missed on the way in. I had to put a quarter in and give her a go as it was my favorite game ever. That said 's very I'm split on this place. It's very blue collar. I loved the checkerboard (plastic) table cloths, and the rest of the antiquated and campy decor, but I hated the ghastly carpet. The wait staff were cute and super pleasant and very well trained. They took our orders and served us in a timely manner. The pizza is garbage. I'm from Brooklyn and I don't know what the F*** they pass off here as pizza. Its super thin crust underdone. The crust was a pathetic quick rise yeast and all purpose flour dough white with no bite or chewiness to it. The sauce was meh and so was the cheese. All in all a disastrous slice of pizza. I've had better frozen pizza and Domino's pizza than this place. The dining area was full of screaming little rugrats and dudes with cut off T-shirts. The margarita's were of the mixed sort and pretty good. I had the sliced steak sandwich which was pretty decent and a steal at 12 bucks. It came with some Italian bread underneath and a big pile of onion rings. Very well executed. The French onion soup was a little salty but still good, with a nice char on the cheese on top. The salads were fresh. I would go back to try the other stuff but not the pizza which was utter garbage. The people who said they liked the pizza here must have grown up in a hole and don't know their arse from their elbow. I finished the meal with a brownie sundae which again was above average. If only the pizza which we saw people ordering en masse didn't ruin the meal for us. read more

Always a solid experience. Great service and great food. Also a great place to host parties. I had my mom's surprise 50th here and it was perfect! Very accommodating and different options. Very disappointed with this place. Yes, my we arrived later (10:30pm) for some late food after the Somerset Patriots game on Sat. They were very nice to serve us food but we had no idea it closed early on a Sat. What bars do you know that close (not stop serving food but to close completely at 11pm??!!!) The service was understandably spotty (end of their shift). The food...not good at all. We had heard this place was good but I guess end of the night food is not to be expected much from. I had the pulled pork sandwich with coleslaw on top (not good and kind of cold), my gf had the salmon sandwich which she was ok with it. Our friends had a pizza (terrible), wings (yuck), nachos (flavorless) and calamari (more breading and calamari was rubbery). Not planning on going back. I adore Chimney Rock! It's super family friendly and the service and food are always good. I personally love the Chicken Cobb wrap and I recently tried their shrimp appetizer which was excellent! I've been coming here for years, usually getting pizza and occasionally getting pick up. I just ordered a ton of food for take out and the quality was beyond awful! The pizza lacked toppings, the burger was burnt and the wings were so burnt that they were completely uneatable! Since I heard so much about the pizza my first trip here had to include pizza. I had the Buffalo Chicken at the recommendation of the waitress and it was really good pizza. I thought I was going to be bowled over in this halo of deliciousness and that might have tainted my tasting but nonetheless the pizza was delicious and oh $2.50 pints of Pabst Blue Ribbon, what's not to like. I attended a baby shower at Chimney Rock Inn recently. This place knows how to host an event-- I was impressed. When we arrived a little early to help set up, the hostess could not have been nicer, holding doors as we brought in presents, offering to help carry items, assisting elderly guests. She was so pleasant and helpful. The shower was held in a private room in the back of the dining room, with waitstaff specifically dedicated to the party. The service was prompt and polite. The staff has clearly worked a lot of large events and never let a glass sit empty or a finished plate linger on the table. When we needed little extras (a trash bag for wrapping paper, pencils for a shower game) they found them immediately and with a smile. Two big thumbs up for all the employees here! We were served pizza as an appetizer, which was at once wonderful (the pizza is so good!) and not-so-wonderful (the entrees were never going to measure up to the pizza). The pizza is very thin and crispy, absolutely delicious. The entree salad that followed was fine but not exceptional. The staff also sliced and served a cake that had been brought to the shower. In all, it was a great shower. I would definitely recommend Chimney Rock Inn for a special event. read more

This is my second visit with my coworkers and both experiences very positive. Very warm atmosphere and lots of wood . The menu looks like a newspaper which was very interesting but overall has an antique feel. I ordered the beef brisket with BBQ which as advertised was very tender and delicious. I'm a southern boy so I'm very particular with my brisket lol. The service was very high quality which I experienced both times I've visited with my coworkers. My waitress was very attentive and food came out fast. Overall, very positive experience and I would recommend to friends & family. I'm trying the gluten free pizza next time. read more

I have been coming to this place since I was a wee little lady. I have some fond memories of eating pizza and drinking soda after long softball tournaments in the middle of the summer. I love the location: tucked up on the mountain heading away from Bound Brook right across from the quarry. I honestly cant believe the other Elite yelpers below gave it such a bad rating. The food: As many others have said below, Chimney is not fine dining. Chimney IS your local go to restaurant for reliable good food, casual comfortable seating and scenery, and decent beer selection. Tons of menu selections and changes by season. Very affordable. The pizza is mighty good. Not your New York style. Comes thin crust and packed with an abundance of flavor. Service is great as they always have many people on staff, typically young and hardworking, and very helpful. Bar area is cool. The high booths offer privacy for some groups or you can sit at the large square bar. Ample parking even though it always gets packed. Chimney can do for a bit updating as they have not changed much in years. read more

This place has been here for a 100 yrs and except wait on during peak hours as it is the only good place to eat in the area. Not a fancy inside but the food makes up for the decor. There is something on the menu for everyone. My personal favorites as the burgers (above average), fish and chips and of course their famous thin crust pizza. Always had good service here and the prices are reasonable. The only negative is the crowds during peak times otherwise you wont be disappointed. read more

Being the complete non-conformist that I am, I went here and didn't have pizza. OMGWTF!!!!!!!! I know, I know. You can all start breathing again. This is the spot for salmon burgers: it's the only place I've been to that makes said fish patties without filler, tons of breadcrumbs and other rubbish that restaurants are wont to use to keep prices high and fish-to-patty ratio low. Chimney Rock does not do that. It's all salmon, baby, with a light dill sauce and plenty of fresh greens. The sweet potato fries are also exemplary. Room is neat, drinks are cheap...could have been a leeetle cleaner, but, well, what can you do. I'll be back for the wine and the salmon burgers :) read more

Chimney rock has a nice family atmosphere and the food is decently good. They have a number of gluten free options including my favorite, the Rosa Margherita pizza. They are very safe about preparing the gluten free items, so it's safe for people with celiac, and they cater to other allergies as well- just ask! While certainly not fine dining or even the best pizza or burger I've had, it's a nice place to go with the family. They also have a bar that seems to always be full and the place is always backed on the weekends, so be prepared to wait if you really want to go. Otherwise they're great with takeout. read more

First time at this restaurant. Went with my husband and two young kids on a Saturday night, pretty full, waited about 20 minutes. You're able to reserve a seat online, but, since we went last minute, we didn't get to try that option. We ordered white and red sangrías, which were ok, for $6 each. Vegetable Chile was good.
