The pretizza pizza is unlike anything I've ever had before. Cheddar cheese and a pretzel crust. The crust has you licking your fingers. The dipping sauce was a great touch to dip the crust in. Tater tots.. Why didn't I ever think to throw guacamole on them. Amazing! Simply amazing. Also like the Covid protocols they have in place. Car pick up is wonderful. ***3 1/2 stars*** My initial feelings on this place changed dramatically over the course of the first 10 seconds. When I saw the freezer of pizzas for sale by the door, I was thinking to myself, "I don't know...Friendly's can pull that optic off. Can a regular restaurant though?" And then a passing waitress complimented my sneakers and I was on top of the world. I came here for lunch on Sunday with my chum around 12:30ish. I grew up about 25 minutes away in western Hunterdon, so I'm very familiar with Flemington and its ridiculous traffic circles but I'm PRETTY sure this restaurant popped up within the last few years well after I had left, but I wouldn't swear to it; I usually was on this section of Route 31 to get UFO pants at the Flemington Department Store because I thought I was gangsta. Anyway. The interior scheme is interesting. It has very high, barn loft-like ceilings, but it actually feels a little cluttered because most of the dining tables are separated by high wooden partitions. We were seated near the bar island, which had kind of a gazebo ivy vibe - so yes, a lot going on here. The lighting was pretty dim as well, with the exception of a room towards the back by the restrooms that's clearly used for baby showers and similar events. Very nice looking, though completely different from the rest of the establishment. I was also impressed with the menu layout and design - it has hipster gastropub vibes, which is most definitely NOT the Flemington I know. It's also gigantic with tons of options; basically every genre of American food is available here. It was super toasty out and I was ambivalent on booze, but the Blueberry Mule (I think around $12 or $13) caught my eye. It was the highlight of our adventure - I thought it was both delicious and refreshing, with the vanilla and blueberry flavors actually being pretty subtle though still noticeable/enjoyable and the ginger beer providing a lovely zip. Absolutely would get that again. We split the Garlic Nuggets app ($7.99), I ended up getting the Smoked Beef Brisket Sandwich ($13.99) sans toppings, and my chum went with some type of hardcore grilled cheese (I just went on the website to try to find it like a responsible reviewer but couldn't - my apologies). She was a big fan, regardless. The Garlic Nuggets turned out to be a super misleading name for what showed up, which was...garlic knots. After they showed up, I read over the description and it does clearly say it's bread, but we thought it would be fancy chicken nuggets or something to that effect. Absolutely our fault, but I personally think they should call them something other than nuggets. For what it's worth, they were pretty decent. A little heavy (it is knots of thick bread after all) and definitely needed to be doused in the olive oil for flavoring purposes. Just bring your reading comprehension skills and you'll be fine. The initial Smoked Beef Brisket Sandwich that showed up had toppings on it, which was mildly disappointing but not the end of the world since all I had to do was scrape them off. I was just about done completing that process when a server came rushing over to give me the correct, naked sandwich. You obviously don't want to get the wrong order to begin with, but points for correcting it pretty quickly. The brisket was a little dry, though part of that undoubtedly was because it had no toppings. It was supposed to come with BBQ sauce on the side, but alas. Thankfully my friend was able to get our waiter's attention immediately to remedy that issue, and the remainder of the sandwich was good - not earthshattering, but something I wouldn't be upset about ordering again. The service was okay. It felt worse than it was because we had somewhere to be that afternoon, but we were in and out of there in about an hour and 10 minutes. Our waiter was nice but seemed harried and a little overwhelmed; it looked like he was assigned most if not all of the tables in our section, which hovered close to double digits. Given the circumstances, I thought he handled it well. And I thought the price point was on par for the area - no issues there. I'm honestly mystified at how many people are writing negative reviews about the credit card transaction fees as if there's a nefarious conspiracy afoot - that's been prevalent everywhere for months now. If you're that riled up, go to the ATM beforehand. The pizza seems to be the big selling point here, and we saw several nearby customers ordering/enjoying it. I would probably give that a shot next time so I can avoid getting tricked by the garlic nuggets again. read more

I was happy to find a place I could take my toddler for lunch with little fuss. As an added bonus, we could also get gluten-free pizza for my father-in-law. Went here tonight for dinner. Service was good! Our waiter was very kind and checked up on our table multiple times. The place itself is also very nice, beautiful warm vibe on one half and the other is more of a diner vibe that we were seated at. Looked very nice. The food was good, would give it a 4/5 . Our table loved the parmesan fries. My friend got the Blackened Mahi mahi and loved it, says it was perfect. I had the spicy fried chicken sandwich and buffalo shrimp. the sandwich was good but I wish the meat was thicker and had a bit more flavor. As for the buffalo shrimp, I wouldn't get it again. the skin is still on the shrimp which is more noticeable once the shrimp is cooled off. The shrimp flavor was also overpowered by the sauce. I pass this place on the way to work and have always wanted to try it since I saw it being built. Finally stopped in last night and we left impressed and wanting to come back. The service was very good and friendly, we made a reservation and were seated immediately, food came out fast. I agree with others that the tables are close, we were in a bench like seating area and the 2 couples next to us could hear everything we said as if in our party, aside from that, the ambiance is nice. Barn like decor. The kids menus are cute, lots of activities and games I've never heard of, they were fun to do with my kids, and lots of options for kids food. Though a drink isn't included in their meal, at $7 approx. it should be. Most restaurants kids meals come with a drink. We ordered the loaded fries to start, very yummy, love the sauce. The Pretizza pizza, very yummy, the crust is like garlic bread, very good and nice sauce. My husband devoured his Nashville chicken sandwich and really enjoyed it. They had pizzas to go, next time I will buy. They do charge you I think 3% to use a card like others mentioned. Lots of parking. So glad I decided to stop here. I was in the area and stopped here for lunch. What made me decide this is how inviting and cozy the outside of the restaurant is. I will report back with photos. The parking lot had many cars in it so it clearly is a popular spot. Upon walking in, we were immediately greeted with a smile and friendly welcome. My vegan fiancee loves that they have a vegan menu and for the gluten-free people, they have a gluten-free menu as well! We ordered the vegan chili pizza and the pretizza as our main course. The pretizza is one of my personal guilty pleasures. It's salty and delicious with great sauce and cheese. The queso dip is TREMENDOUS and adds an additional cheesy element you didn't know pizza could benefit further from. The vegan chili pizza had really good flavor! It wasn't overly spicy and the crust tasted fantastic and crisp. It really is the best of both worlds. I can definitely recommend this spot to you. I've eaten at both The Chimney Rock Inn located in Gillette and Bound Brook. The Flemington location has become my new favorite place to eat of all three. There were 7 of us in my party and the wait to be seated was only 10 minutes, considering this place was packed. I had a really nice friendly and efficient waiter by the name of Matt. He was constantly running around to make sure my group was happy and got what we needed. We started with a few appetizers and drinks. The drink of choice was the Purple People Eater Mule- Pam's liquor, Tito's Vodka, Goslings ginger beer and Cranberry Juice. The combinations were really good. Some of the appetizers ordered was the Loaded Rock Fries. Seasoned fries topped w/ monterey jack, cheddar cheese & bacon served w/ a side of southwestern sauce. This was delicious, great anytime. The bacon added a nice Smokey flavor. The second appetizer ordered was Beef Nachos Supreme-Homemade crispy tortilla chips topped with fresh tomatoes, salsa, sliced black olives, jalapenos & melted cheese. It was very tasty. The third appetizer ordered Pirogies-Large potato dumplings sauteed in butter with golden brown onions & served with a side of sour cream, also tasted good. For my main course I had the Ribs and Smoked Brisket Platter with fries and Coleslaw. The ribs were good and the brisket had a wonderful smokey flavor. My friends ordered Fish n Chips it was a nice size and was thoroughly enjoyed. Another friend ordered their Cowboy Burger-Applewood smoked bacon, cheddar, BBQ sauce and onion crisps..It too was delicious and a good size. Another friend ordered their Chipotle Pasta-Penne pasta sauteed in a fresh chipotle cream sauce & topped with diced tomatoes, scallions & grana padano cheese. The portion was large and he took half home. Last but not least another friend ordered the Cedar Plank Salmon- Seasoned wild salmon roasted on a cedar plank with brown sugar & balsamic glaze, served with angel hair pasta tossed in garlic, spinach & tomatoes. It looked really good, my friend loved it. All the appetizers filled us up so we couldn't finish our dinners. We wanted to save room for dessert. For dessert I chose the Maddalena's Gourmet Vanilla Cheesecake-This rich & creamy cheesecake is finished w/ gluten free "graham-style" crumbs. It was very good but filling, so I decided to share mine. Some friends got the Brown Betty, and others Key Lime Moose cake.They were out of the lava cookie. For some reason people like the CRI. I tried the Bound Brook location twice before and was not impressed. I was in the Flemington area and saw the Octoberfest signs and thought I'd give the new location a try. First impressions were underwhelming. The new place looks as old and dated as the original. I tried the Bavarian Goulash. It was basically half a can of Dinty Moore beef stew over super over cooked fake spatzel (noodles). The serving size was about half a portion and they hit you up for $18, no bread or salad. Just canned stew and bland noodles. The server looked as happy to be there as I was with my meal. Service was not good and it was not busy so no excuse for the poor service. CRI got its third strike from me, I would never go back. read more

SERVICE - When hubby pointed out the rotten lemon to our waitress and asked her to report back to the kitchen, she just dumped the rotten fruit into the garbage and did nothing further. We came, we saw, we ate, and then we left. Not a great place, not an awful place for dinner but some where in the middle. This is your typical american style restaurant, Like an Applebees, Ruby Tuesday, Chilies or TGIFridays. They have all the typical stuff, like burgers, Sandwiches, BBQ, they also have some pizza and pasta. A nice selection of food for everyone. The decor is nice, the outside look amazing, the inside is ok but functional, everything look clean and cared for. The staff was pleasant and helpful, they made suggestions when asked and I never had to wait for a drink refill. The manager was also out and about making rounds checking on everything. The biggest downer for me was the food, It was just average, not bad by any means, but not good either. The food was interchangeable with something that could be gotten at almost any other restaurant. I had the Mac & Cheese Burger, the Mac & Cheese portion was bland, and the burger was bland also, the best part was the Cajun fries. My girlfriend had the Grown Up Grilled Cheese, she said it was very filling, but the brisket was kind of fatty and she was not a fan of the BBQ sauce on it. We started off with the Homemade Chicken Spring Rolls, they were fine, they tasted like any other Spring Rolls that you can get at any other restaurant. Overall, not a bad place, not a great place, but a solid place to get some dinner. If I was in the area I would come back again, but I would not go out of my way to come back here again. read more

We've been to the Bridgewater location many times, but this was our first time in the Flemington location. We were surprised by how hard they worked to make the layouts even feel the same! It was quiet on a Monday at 5pm. We were seated immediately and served by a wonderful and friendly server named Natalie. The couple next to us seemed particularly difficult and she handled them with such grace and professionalism. We ordered the pretzel macaroni and cheese pizza and the fish tacos. We ordered the pizza with bacon, but when it came without, Natalie and the manager went out of their way to send us home with a second free one! Some had the loaded baked potato soup as an appetizer - it was OK, heavy on the soup and not so much the potato, bacon, etc., ingredients, but the taste was still there. I had the pot pie - again, OK, had much better elsewhere, but it wasn't bad. Dining partners gave pretty much the same review of the corned beef dinners they had. Service was friendly and efficient. Check came and there was a 3% "transaction fee" included. This was before they knew how we were going to pay, so even if paying cash you had to pay this fee? And again, WHY???? If it's for credit cards, then that's a cost of doing business and just increase your menu prices. If you're charging everyone this whether they're paying cash or credit, then that's just wrong. Although our server was friendly, not so much with everyone else, difficult to get smiles or "hellos". First time customer, who knows maybe a 2nd visit would be different, but first impressions are a challenge to return to drop another $200. read more

I met up with a few friends from the area here. It was the first day of good weather in a while and they had the barn doors open, with a nice breeze blowing through. The inside is decorated nicely but tends to be confusing when it comes to seating because of the different sections and layout. You have a bar area, hall area, and two different dining areas, it was exasperated by the receptionist not being very helpful in finding us a table, so, we kind of wandered around for a bit. It was annoying but definitely not why this place was just ok, it was the food... We had a group of seven people, the server was great handling the orders and making sure we were accommodated. We ordered one epic pie for the table, individual salads and drinks. The epic pie was huge but it wasn't very good, it was soggy, fell apart, and the sauce wasn't the best. It could had been the size that made it so soggy, but, the flavor was just ok and the combination made the entire thing pretty bad. One of our friends ordered the gluten-free personal pie and enjoyed it. She said the crust was on point but had the same comment on the sauce, it was ok. So, I would recommend if you are ordering pizza to get two pies for the table rather than ordering an epic pie. My salad, it tasted and looked like something you would pickup at a convenient store. Hey, there is nothing wrong with a convenient store salad, but, when you are paying double the price and sitting down with friends... it becomes a problem. It could had been my choice but some others also complained, maybe they were just having a bad day? That was the sentiment of one of my good friends who recommend that we come here. Overall, based on my limited experience, I wouldn't recommend coming here unless you are looking for your basic casual environment and food. This place would be perfect if you need a place to watch a game, drink a beer, and get a simple meal. So good! Was seated immediately, outdoor seating was available now that it's getting warmer but we chose an indoor table. Hostess, waiters, and waitresses were all super nice and helpful, answered every question we had. The menu is decently big, they're currently not passing out physical menus , you scan the QR code they give you. Masks are required, limited capacity, and social distanced. I recommend dine in for this restaurant. The food is great although little pricey and you pay additional id paying with plastic! I would not recommend them for take out! The prices are too much for the servings I've gotten from delivered food and orders are often wrong or incomplete. Management will work with you but I stopped getting their take out all together. I still dine in and love it for that. The only draw back to dine in is noise level is high in most areas of the restaurant! Service excellent. I came here with friends and we enjoyed our visit! I tried two different drinks- a mojito and a margarita. The the mojito was very refreshing and tasty, but so was the margarita. The margarita seemed stronger and larger (so they're both good choices, depending on what you're going for haha). I ordered a margarita pizza because all the reviews said the pizza was great here. The pizza was crispy, delicious and I loved the sauce. My friends got sandwiches, but I think they secretly wished they also ordered the pizza. For dessert I had a scoop or icecream. They have vegan icecream too- I tried a bite of that and I thought that was quite good as well. The atmosphere of this restaurant is also very nice.
