Amazing food. Truly everything was delicious. The service left a lot to be desired but it was Mother's Day, so maybe busy. Our waitress took over 20 minutes to get us our drinks and never checked back for refills. The food took forever. They forgot the hushpuppies with our meals and we had to flag a different waitress down because ours was so busy and never came back to our table. We probably won't be back even though the food was really good. BEWARE OF SHADY BUSINESS PRACTICE: The menu says they charge 3% for credit card transactions. This charge was added to our bill before asking how we were paying and when we said we were paying in cash and would like the charge removed, the waitress said she didn't know how and that she's never removed it before. That means that they charge everyone this surcharge, even if they pay it in cash. They add the surcharge to the bill prior to tax as well, so you're paying sales tax on the 3%. When we asked if there was a manager that could help, the waitress said there was no manager on duty that day. super shady rip off. read more

My family decided to take me to Chimney Rock Smokehouse for Mother's Day after a long day at Chimney State Park. We arrived just before 1 PM and with it being a holiday the restaurant was very busy. We had a 35 minute wait and we gave the hostess our phone number but we had no cell phone service that day. So after 35 minutes we went back and the hostess got us seated. A few minutes later our waitress greeted us and took our drink and food orders. It took her twenty minutes to come back with our drinks. They were very busy and short staffed so that was understandable. Our food arrived about an hour after we were seated. I ordered the sliced brisket with mac and cheese, my husband ordered the brisket and baked beans. My daughter and son-in-law also had sliced brisket meals and my grandson had chicken nuggets and fries. The food was very good. The brisket had a nice smoky flavor like I am use to in Texas. The BBQ sauce was a little different than I am use to but I enjoyed it. The Mac and Cheese was some of the best I have ever had and my husband said the same. To me, the price was a little expensive for what we got. $21.50 for the plates shown in the pictures. Also, my brisket wasn't trimmed of the fat. You can see it if you zoom in. The restaurant was busy. So the service was very slow. I would like to add a comment about something that they are doing that I don't believe is ethical. They add a 3% non cash surcharge to every ticket. My my husband let the waitress know that we were paying cash and she said that there was no way to take it off that everyone pays that charge. He asked for the manager and she told him that there was no manager. He did eventually get it fixed. Watch for this if you are paying cash! The food alone would be 5 stars but because of the fact they excepted me to pay a non cash surcharge when I was paying cash I have to knock off a star. I came to Chimney Rock recently and was thrilled to find the Smokehouse. It was a quiet afternoon and I sat near the bar under the raised deck. Its a really nice space, perfect for good weather. Skyler was there to serve me and did an amazing job. I ordered the shrimp tacoss. They were loaded with shrimp tossed in a spicy sauce. So much flavor. Finally was able to get in on a Thursday. It wasn't so crowded in town. Chimney rock is bouncing back and I'm so happy!. I'm not a fan of very smoky food, but this was perfect. I tried the trio slider sandwiches, which had one brisket, one chicken, and one pork. The pork and the brisket were my favorite. I had a side of jalapeño hush puppies with the dill - ranch sauce. Came to check out "Miracle on Main Street" following a visit to the state park. Loved the cheerful decor and creative cocktails for the occasion! Our server was nice and we were seated quickly, the restaurant itself is nicely decorated, we ordered a full rack of St Louis style ribs and a brisket, the food arrived quickly and we divided our serving so we'd all have a taste of everything, this is where things went wrong. The brisket was tasty but dry, and about a third of the ribs were fatty and tough if well seasoned. I've also never had ribs with a bone still attached along the top of the meat. We ordered take out. The waitstaff taking the order was not trained and could not tell us what the dessert of the week consisted of. The hush puppies were overcooked. The mac n cheese was flavorless. The chopped brisket had a ton of fat and not much meat. Overall a fail. We called the restaurant and they did offer us a refund. But staying at the top of a mountain out of town, we didn't feel like driving back. Very frustrating and will probably not be back. I hope the owners get the staff trained better. Really wanted to rate this place higher, but just couldnt. I will give them the benefit of the doubt, as there are extenuating circumstances. Given the they had just reopened a few months prior and we were there in the off season, the shot comings can be overlooked. The brisket was dry. The pulled pork was dry. I think that because of circumstances, maybe they had smoked most of the meats a few days prior and were just using the stuff that was on hand. I dont know, but it was disappointing. The sauce was ok. The atmosphere was nice. It was later in the day and there werent many customers, so the staff was decorating for Christmas. It was cute. We will go back, just in case this was a one off. If it was, I will update this review. read more
