    Sliced brisket and baked beans
    Kristin S.

My family decided to take me to Chimney Rock Smokehouse for Mother's Day after a long day at Chimney State Park. We arrived just before 1 PM and with it being a holiday the restaurant was very busy. We had a 35 minute wait and we gave the hostess our phone number but we had no cell phone service that day. So after 35 minutes we went back and the hostess got us seated. A few minutes later our waitress greeted us and took our drink and food orders. It took her twenty minutes to come back with our drinks. They were very busy and short staffed so that was understandable. Our food arrived about an hour after we were seated. I ordered the sliced brisket with mac and cheese, my husband ordered the brisket and baked beans. My daughter and son-in-law also had sliced brisket meals and my grandson had chicken nuggets and fries. The food was very good. The brisket had a nice smoky flavor like I am use to in Texas. The BBQ sauce was a little different than I am use to but I enjoyed it. The Mac and Cheese was some of the best I have ever had and my husband said the same. To me, the price was a little expensive for what we got. $21.50 for the plates shown in the pictures. Also, my brisket wasn't trimmed of the fat. You can see it if you zoom in. The restaurant was busy. So the service was very slow. I would like to add a comment about something that they are doing that I don't believe is ethical. They add a 3% non cash surcharge to every ticket. My my husband let the waitress know that we were paying cash and she said that there was no way to take it off that everyone pays that charge. He asked for the manager and she told him that there was no manager. He did eventually get it fixed. Watch for this if you are paying cash! The food alone would be 5 stars but because of the fact they excepted me to pay a non cash surcharge when I was paying cash I have to knock off a star. Also, note to add, the restaurant offers both outdoor and indoor seating.

We drove to Chimney Rock just to eat at CR Smokehouse. They have great food and a very friendly staff. When we were finished my wife had to buy a bottle of their homemade mustard barbecue sauce to take home with us. If you're in the Lake Lure area Chimney Rock Smokehouse is a must go to eat.

So glad Chimney Rock is rebuilding! After Helene wiped out the whole area. They are building back better than ever! The new Smokehouse was great! I loved the atmosphere with a great view of chimney rock. I ordered the brisket sandwich and hush puppies. Both were some of the best I have ever had! So much flavor and perfect texture. You must try when in the area! The beer selection was also very good! I can't wait to come back and try some other items on the menu!

I came to Chimney Rock recently and was thrilled to find the Smokehouse. It was a quiet afternoon and I sat near the bar under the raised deck. Its a really nice space, perfect for good weather. Skyler was there to serve me and did an amazing job. I ordered the shrimp tacoss. They were loaded with shrimp tossed in a spicy sauce. So much flavor. The jalapeño hushpuppies were also delicious and overall, it was just the right amount of food. I'd come back for sure given the opportunity.

Great view of Chimney Rock and Falks from bar!

The BBQ sampler was perfect! Ember was our server and she couldn't have been nicer. Live music while we ate...the whole vibe was great.

Delicious little surprise! Loved the pulled pork sandwich! Super tender. Their ranch dressing they must make in house... we dipped the fried okra in it. Didn't need it but the ranch was just as delicious so the okra was a nice vessel. Brisket tacos were delicious and the jalapeño hush puppies weren't very spicy but perfect. Service was kind and friendly. We sat inside with the twinkle lights.

Stopped in after going to Chimney Rock . I had briefly met the owners Nick and his wife at the San Diego zoo. Got the Top of The Rock sammie , loaded mac & cheese and brisket sammie. Everything was really good just a bummer I missed saying hi to the owners!

Came to check out "Miracle on Main Street" following a visit to the state park. Loved the cheerful decor and creative cocktails for the occasion! They do their fried pickles like actual fries so they are not soggy. Also enjoyed the smoked shrimp tacos and buffalo chicken tacos. The service was good and the price right. We'd happily return.

    Menu and view!

The most Friendly staff and patrons I've ever encountered and awesome live guitar by Keith! The view, you can just sit and stare. Oh, and the BBQ is SOOOO good you'll want to order seconds even though you are full.

My wife and I had lunch there today and it was excellent !! The service was fantastic and the places looks great since they remodeled after the storm. We sat upstairs on the outside deck and it was just beautiful. So happy to see this business back up and running !!

Finding seats at the bar for six is no easy task on a Friday night so whether the stars aligned or knowing Margaret the always friendly and sometimes professional bartender was the reason for it, it was the perfect place to enjoy a few amazing cocktails and a snack after driving the better half of the day. The lounge is easily accessible from the porch or the lobby of the hotel, I won't say it's small but it is cozy. There's an oddly shaped bar along the back wall and a few tables window side otherwise it's standing room only. Margaret runs the show and if you're looking for a little harmless bantering then she'll give you all you want, she'll also pour you legendary cocktails that will have you wanting just one more no matter how long you stay. After finishing my go to summertime drink Redbull & Tito's while the sun set behind the mountains it was time to test the bartender's skill set - nothing's better than a barely dirty Ketel One martini shaken cold, up with a few cheese stuffed olives, well she quickly corrected my description of a cocktail that I've been consuming for decades - I guess the correct term is a slutty martini verses the barely dirty terminology. I may have deserved that since I did ask her if she knew how to make a great martini (see attached photo) I think the photo proved she's made a few and the taste validated any doubt I may have had - it was delicious. There's lots to do in Lake Lure although it may appear otherwise, but one should experience this place if possible...

The host came back and said there wouldn't be a problem as long as it was an inside table. When the waitress arrived with the water we asked her for two Bloody Marys and we went to serve ourselves from the buffet Food was delicious starting with the omelette station and the rest of the items including the prime rib. The drinks never arrived and the waitress never came back with water, she actually never came to our table, we had to ask for water to the busser same for the check. I am not sure what their system is but looks chaotic since you help yourself to the food it should be fairly easy to assign zones or tables to each server. We walked out to the veranda and came back in the building to seat in the lounge where a pianola was on auto play, really nice environment that takes you back a few decades. Margret was our server somehow I don't think this was by accident I had met her a few days earlier at the hotel bar - she has been here for years and years and some of our friends have been enjoying her amazing personality and high level service for a decade or more. Once seated she offered to put our drink orders in while we explored the feast laid out in the adjoining room, the drinks are made at the hotel bar but they have a table set up to allow you to customize your specialty drinks i.e. Bloody Mary's are amazing before any modifications. The food was simple but elegantly displayed, the quality of the product was exceptional and the preparation was very creative and professional. I started at the omelette station two burners and a limited selection of ingredients but all delicious and being I'm not a veggie guy the meats and cheese exceeded my expectations. The neighboring stations were both carving stations, beef and ham both cooked to the perfect temperature and very tender and flavorful - yes I made two trips. I tried a few of the other sides trying my best to stay away for the carbohydrates that most of the side dishes bring with them. Well as much will power and restraint that I have it all slowly eroded away each time I passed the dessert table. The chocolate fountain surround by sliced pineapple, strawberries and cubes of moist cake, lemon and chocolate pies, cheese cake, chocolate cake, cookies and omg peach cobbler - trust me you can gain a few pounds just by being close to this table. The service was spectacular and the total package price is ridiculously reasonable - I don't think you need to lower your expectations to throughly enjoy this brunch but you do need to keep things in perspective this is a small community and this nostalgic hotel / restaurant puts it all out there so enjoy...

A Hidden Gem for Truly Great BBQ…read more We decided to try Iron and Oak after reading some online reviews, and I'm so glad we did. This place is truly a hidden little gem, tucked right beside a brewery. You place your order outside, and there are several outdoor tables with heaters to keep you warm. Our server also let us know we were welcome to sit inside if we preferred, but we chose a cozy outdoor table right by a heater. It was perfect. My husband was craving ribs, and he hasn't stopped talking about them since. He said they were some of the best he's ever had -- tender, flavorful, and cooked just right. He ordered slaw as his side and really enjoyed it. I went with the pulled pork sandwich, and honestly, it was exceptional. The server asked if I wanted it with onions and pickles -- I said yes -- and then asked her to add slaw on top. She said "Of course!" with no hesitation and then took a moment to explain the whole routine since it was our first visit: where to get sauces, forks, napkins, and how they deliver your food to the table when it's ready. She was wonderful. The pulled pork itself was outstanding -- not one bit of fat, just tender, flavorful, perfectly cooked meat. Truly one of the best pulled pork sandwiches I've ever had. I chose potato salad as my side, and it was delicious -- definitely passed the test, since potato salad can be hit or miss at many places. I forgot to take pictures, but trust me: this place is worth the trip. If you're in the mood for BBQ, make the drive and enjoy what I would honestly call some of the best barbecue in Asheville.
