We visited on Saturday and really enjoyed the atmosphere--it's a very cool place. Unfortunately, the service and food did not meet our expectations. It took approximately 20 minutes just to receive our drinks, and when our food arrived, my burger was in unacceptable condition. I was surprised that it was allowed to leave the kitchen that way. We brought the issue to the attention of the person who delivered our food, but our concern was ignored. We eventually had to track down our waitress to have the problem addressed. To make matters worse, our checks were incorrect, and despite the delays and food issue, no discount or accommodation was offered. The restaurant has a lot of potential and a great atmosphere, but the food quality, service, and pricing need improvement. Unfortunately, our experience did not justify the cost. read more

The location is incredibly quaint--tucked into a cute, woodsy area around Lake Laura. You can't actually see the lake from the restaurant, but the whole setting still feels peaceful and charming. Today there was even a puppy there, Miguel, who was the sweetest little host/co-host. The hostess was great too--super friendly, patient with all my questions, and just welcoming overall. Another woman, maybe a local or another staff member, also chatted with me while I was waiting, which made the whole experience feel even warmer. The food was outstanding. I ordered the salmon and it was cooked to perfection. The rice was fantastic, the salad was delicious, and everything on the plate just hit. I also had the seasonal apple cider margarita, which was phenomenal. They even offered me a free dessert--maybe extras from an event the day before--but it was such a thoughtful touch. Before heading out, I grabbed two bottles of wine to go (they had a special) and took a glass of wine to enjoy in one of their outdoor areas. The grounds are very garden-forward. I visited in the fall, so the foliage wasn't at its peak, but the property is undeniably gorgeous. They have fire pits and outdoor heaters everywhere. I took my glass of wine to the back and sat on a swing--the hostess actually recommended it--and it was the perfect little moment. This is where things got a bit odd: once I moved outside, I didn't really feel acknowledged anymore. Maybe because I didn't have a server at that point, but when I left, there was no "Have a good day," which felt a little off after such a great experience. Still, it doesn't outweigh everything else. Overall, I'll definitely be back. Food: 10/10. Vibes: 10/10. I just wish my exit had felt a bit more appreciated--but it is what it is. Loved this place. read more

We were walking around Chimney Rock and the main restaurant downtown couldn't accommodate our dogs but they recommended Grey Hawk about a mile out of town. This was the perfect setting for a warm, sunny Sunday! The main goal of the day was to shop some of the businesses that just reopened and maybe grab a drink but we ended up with that and more. Everyone who ordered the Crabby Patty said it was good. I had the Shrimp & grits special. This is was of my favorite go-to dishes when I see it on a restaurant menu. However, I wished I'd ordered the crab cake sandwich. It could have used more creole seasoning, and the whole roasted bell pepper on top really detracted from the other ingredients. I substituted the fruit for the small green salad for a $2 up charge. Our server Jeffrey was cheerful, informed and present when we needed him. He described the specials and took our drink selections, which gave us time to peruse the brunch menu. We enjoyed our meals and drinks while listening to a very good guitarist/singer on the huge lawn. We'll definitely return here the next time we're in the area. read more

Absolute stunner of a place. We drove a ways for this and were not disappointed. Super cozy and eclectic, this is gonna be a summer favorite. the indoors is quirky and sweet and outdoors boasts bonfires and great social spots. We got the breakfast bowls with bacon and they walked the line of comfort and healthy so so well. They were cozy and nourishing and served fresh. I also got a manhattan and it was crafted well. I came to Lake Lure to visit friends and hunt for summer jobs. My buddy Will recommended this place and I'm glad he did. We went for brunch. I had the avocado toast with fruit and a coffee. The toast (made special to accommodate my allergies) was delicious and the fruit mix was exceptionally fresh and better than most (black berries, strawberries, etc). The service was friendly and fast. The outdoor seating was perfect for the weather we had that day. For resort town pricing, it was fair, $12 toast. Coffee was a little too pricey, $4 a cup, but most restaurant drinks too expensive for my taste. I will return again when I come back to town. read more

We spent the afternoon at the Grey Hawk food and wine festival and had an amazing time. The food was fantastic, the wine selection was extensive. But....the best part of our afternoon was how the owners both took the time to personally greet us, love on our dogs, and make us feel like part of their tribe. Visiting the Chimney Rock State Park which was beautiful but we were saddened by the devastation of Lure. We decided that we could give back to a local restaurant by dinning locally before heading back to Charlotte. I ordered the "Shrimp Rich Boy" described as colossal prawns, well i got 3 medium shrimp on a 8 inch roll. I mentioned to waiter and was told that's how they make it and no other shimp was offered. I took the 3 medium shrimp and put on half the sandwich and left the empty half . There is a difference between COLOSSAL PRAWNS & MEDIUM SHRIMP. Hopefully the menu will be changed read more

We happened upon this restaurant on our way to another restaurant following a nice 4 mile hike. We saw smoke billowing from a fire pit and it looked quaint so we stopped in. I'm so glad that we did because this place is a hidden gem. We had an amazing charcuterie board and artisan bread board that were both great. The cocktails were also well prepared and the lone waitress was super friendly and attentive. I hope visitors from out of town stop by and try this spot because it won't disappoint! Our first experience here; we opted for a prix fixe dinner. While the quality of the food and prep were decent - not great - the service was barely adequate (we were never offered additional drinks), the seating options completely inadequate (they overbooked so some poor folks ended up standing others had to eat at the bar - they were a party of four), the portion sizes were all very small and completely inconsistent among our party of four (we joked that my husband ordered the kids portion). The noise level was loud that we could barely converse. We were very hopeful that we could add this location to our repertoire of locations we love, but we will most definitely not go back. read more
