Portions are huge, food always super hot. **PRO-TIP: DINE IN. Nobody is ever there because everyone does take out. Store super clean, and has about 6 tables to dine in at. I left really disappointed with my experience at China 1. My wife ordered the Chicken Fried Rice, expecting the usual mix of fried rice, scrambled eggs, vegetables, garlic, and ginger. Instead, she got plain rice and chicken with zero flavor--definitely not what you expect from a Chinese restaurant. My order of the house lo mein was no better: overcooked noodles in a thick, gloopy sauce that just made it worse. Honestly, we should have opted for Vietnamese or Thai. I don't understand, last time I bought here, the food was good and fresh. Today, they sold me rotten rice even, the included rice is rotten and it took me 40 minutes from China1 to my home because of the detour route. The boneless sparerib is not even good when I taste it. The only food I bought from them today that is good is the crab rangoon because that's the first thing I ate. When I got to the rice, I lost my appetite. I don't trust eating the rest and it's already past 9:00 to go back and complain about it. Plus, I gave them a $5 tip just to pick up my order. What a waste! read more

We decided to go here on a whim and decided to dine in. We all ordered from the combo special which includes an entree, fried or steamed rice, and an egg roll or soup for like 7 bucks. You can't beat that. I got the chicken with garlic sauce and hot and sour soup. My bf got the bourbon chicken, and his friend got the sweet and sour chicken. We all greatly enjoyed the food. I was made fresh and had just the right amount of flavor/spice. The man that took our order even brought it out the table for us. Since moving to Louisville we've been searching for our new favorite Chinese takeout place, and, my friends, the search has ended: China 1 is it! The rice is perfectly cooked, not too dry, not too mushy. The vegetarian options are plentiful, and it is clear this is not their first tofu-cooking rodeo - spot on. The sauces are delicious, each dish slightly different, with just the right amount of salt. Additional fun facts: there are several tables inside if you prefer dining in. Food great but service not! I walked in and stood there for over a minute and nobody came to wait on me. There were two young girls sitting at a table and neither of them stopped at all to offer help. But then I doubt they even spoke English. Finally an older woman came out to take my order. I asked for an eggroll and wonton soup. These are the two things I usually order to evaluate a new Chinese restaurant I haven't been to. It didn't take long, and she came out and put my food in a paper bag. When I went up to get it, I told her it was to eat in. She said "yeah yeah" this is for here. So I had to ask her for silverware and a knife. She put a fork and napkin that was wrapped in my bag. She then literally reached into a jar, grabbed an unwrapped knife that was just sitting in there, and threw it in my bag. I stood there in shock for a minute and decided it wasn't worth the battle. So despite the bad service, the eggroll was very good despite being all vegetables, no pork, chicken or meat of any kind. Wonton soup was amazing. I ordered delivery that arrived within half an hour, piping hot, and it's some of the best American-Chinese I have had! The chicken lo mein has large bites of chicken with plenty of carrots, onion, celery, and sprouts. The noodles are cooked perfectly. The pan-fried dumplings have nice crunch and browning. The crab rangoon is on par, if a touch too sweet. Finally, the egg roll is super crunchy and satisfying. I would order two egg rolls per person as they are a bit small. Food was good. Portions of rice were large and meat/veggies smaller. The chicken egg roll was good. The hot and sour not so hot as in I've had better. We used (for the first time) Door Dash. It was great experience, although a bit expensive, since we were stuck at a hospital it was necessary. The food was sent quick and was hot on arrival. I got the Sesame chicken combo and the General sows chicken combo both tasted nothing like what they should all I could taste was salt only ate a little of it before throwing it all away! this restaurant. I order from there 2-3 times a month. Delivery to my house is $1. I get a couple of lunch entrees which come with fried rice and egg roll. Then I get an appetizer of Crab Rangoon. They pack the food well and make sure I have all needed sauces. Lunch did increase to 7.25, but inflation I guess. read more

If a restaurant is only two stars you would think that one might stop expecting more. But isn't that the name and game of these quick delivery Chinese food joints? We expect it to be "better than last time" only to be disappointed time and time again. Chewy, low cost meat, short and pointed ordering, questionable ingredients and so on... but it somehow hits the request list every so often. Do they infuse this stuff with some kind of memory blocker? Whatever it is, we order again and await the arrival of our delivery driver and the repetition continues. One day I hope to find the perfect Chinese meal from China 1 and when it comes I'll surely post a 5-Star review. Or maybe that's the memory blocker speaking. This restaurant too very long to deliver my food and then when I finally received the fried chicken and fried rice was horribly cook , chicken wings very old and dry looking like it wasn't left overs and then they just fried it again and sold it to me and my kids, I suggest no one eat from here they should be closed down for selling bad food read more

Not recommended. I have tried this place 3 times and have the same result each time. They overload their meat dishes with vegetables, use insane amounts of MSG and do not follow the delivery menu pricing. Order a pint of fried rice and get a quart...pay careful attention to the menu costs vs. what they tell you over the phone...you will be shocked at their math! read more

This is a good solid down - to - earth place with good food, fast service, and a no - frills atmosphere. The lady at the front counter may seem gruff to some but she works the phones, the counter, and also cooks. Plus, she is there almost all of time! I can't imagine how many hours she works a week yet I have always found her to be very courteous. I always get the same thing (extra spicy Hunan chicken with usually 2 egg rolls). It is excellent with lots of vegetables and chicken. The lunch special size is perfect and completely filling. Everything I have tried is excellent but I really love my "usual". The only problem I have with China 1 on Breckenridge Lane is the parking. The lot is not really too small. It just serves too many people. Even people would are eating across the street use it. Also, some people double park if they are just making a pickup. Otherwise, the place is great! read more
