We got the wrong order, I order Szechuan sauce pork and I got chicken, and there was no utensils. When I called to let them know that I got the wrong order, the man tells me no that's pork, like I don't know the difference between chicken and pork. When I told he we had no utensils especially due order coming to a hotel, he didn't seem to care. I would not recommend them nor will I order from them again. read more

I love great Chinese food, having lived in San Francisco and Los Angeles, CHINA TOWN is the place.....Billings? In general has the worst food in America, no question. ( almost as bad as trying to buy a new car in this town ) When I found this place frankly I was skeptical, I have eaten in and taken out and always enjoy the food what a find....It appears to be a 2 person show, one of which is the owner and he is always moving....Have not had a bad meal yet. The Egg Foo Young is delicious, the Chow Fun really good, so in the end, I like the place and have not got a bad meal yet. Take out is pretty prompt but you still have to ask for the sauces and that is annoying, but, good as you will get in Billings, Montana, again, my opinion. John Nazarian read more

Probably the worst Chinese food I've ever had. Chicken was dry. Pork was flavorless. Some of the food was hot and "fresh" but most of it was luke warm. After not being able to eat in Billings for a while I was so great full that this place had weathered the Covid storm!. The owner is such a great person and is hands on to overall operations. He greets and serves each person and makes sure you're taken care of. The food is so so good. After going here for years, almost every time I came to Billings, I was able to introduced my middle son to this great place this past week, because he loves good Chinese food, he said it was the best he'd had the pleasure of eating. We have gone here for years but now that they are serving a smaller variety of choices the food is coming out hot and with amazing flavor!!! This Buffett has been a staple in Billings for many many years and is at risk of shutting its doors due to COVID restrictions. Coming from California originally, I had been looking for a good Chinese place to eat at and I can say without a doubt that I found it. China Bistro has amazing food and when you eat in there it tastes even better. I can't tell you how great it is, you just have to try it. I usually get the dinner for 2 special and it's a really great price for the amount of food you get. The beef lo mein and honey chicken are hands down my favorite. Very authentic Chinese food. I waited to review this restaurant. I picked up take out numerous times. They are consistent. The food is very good every single time. I love their shrimp with broccoli with white sauce, lo mein, shrimp egg rolls, fried chicken wings & shrimp fried rice. As a matter of fact this Chinese food gets best cook award in my book since I tried Chinese food from the east coast to the west & this restaurant definitely wins best cook award. China Buffet... Its what's for Dinnerr. My dear friend and I have been on the hunt for the best dirty Chinese spot in Billings; and my goodness! I think we have found it! From the classic stereotypical Chinese buffet sign and the early 90's decor, to the massive chandelier and tub full of Cheez-its, we immediately felt right at home. The sea food is extra fishy, the jello is jiggly, and the lighting reminds me of a late 80's roller rink. All in all great experience if you are into dirty chinese buffet!! The food wasn't bad, but not any better than what you could get for less at Panda Express nearby or by heating up a grocery store ready-made Chinese food meal. The buffet didn't have much selection for entrees, and apparently store-bought rice krispies treats (cut in half and still in their wrappers) and jello count as the dessert buffet. I just wanted plain old tap water to drink, but the waiter brought out bottled water (charged for) and refused to just provide plain water for anyone in my party. I empathize with the struggle the restaurant industry is dealing with at the moment, but I'm not going to return to an establishment that is going overboard by only offering a few lower-cost buffet items and nickel and diming the customer while charging as much or more than the better quality Chinese restaurants and take-out places in Billings. read more

Was in Billings to look at a house and visit with the daughter. In trying to find a place we saw this near her apartment. Sign out front said Mongolian Grill. Went in and ate.They have all these signs saying they were voted best Asian Buffet but that was back in 2008. Asked about the Mongolian Grill and was told the equipment broke so they no longer have it. I did advise them they should get rid of the sign then. The food was mediocre at best. Hot and Sour soup tasted unlike anything I have tasted before. Didn't know it was going to cost $14.99 a person plus beverage. We ordered our dinner to be delivered last night, 11/6/21. When I went to checkout and pay for our meal it went through the usual prompts for identification information and credit number. The bill defaults to a 20% gratuity. I did have the option to choose a lesser percentage so I chose 15% and completed the transaction. When we got the food, within the quoted time frame I signed my copy really fast and had dinner. When I went online to see why my charge was approximately $50, I found that not only had they received my 15% gratuity, they charged a $6 delivery fee AND .99 Processing Fee. The real kicker was the owner of the restaurant was the one who delivered the food! In this day I think any restaurant is lucky to have any business. The food was far less than exceptional bordering on subpar. The fried rice tasted of old oil.. The leftovers were thrown out needless to say. Please be aware of what you are being charged for at this establishment if you chose to order. I will not be ordering from this restaurant in the future. We had the buffet tonight, with 5 people in our group they were nice enough to start preparing buffet dishes about 40 minutes early. Some of the beef dishes were a little lacking in spice, but the chicken dishes, like Lemon Chicken were really good. The lemon glaze was actually caramelized, and the cashew chicken had enough carrots to actually taste them in the mix. The Mongolian Beef being an exception among some other 'neutral' spiced beef dishes, it was spicy and had CRUNCHY ingredients, like onions, pea-pods, and celery. The 'Shrimp and Butter' dish, which is exactly what it says was delicious, but seemed out of place... it just didn't seem Chinese to us. All in all the restaurant was clean, the employees were friendly, the food was well cooked (not quite spicy enough on some dishes, but the server GLADLY and with a smile bought us extra peppers, pepper sauce and teriyaki on request.) We all ordered water to drink (soda just isn't the thing in our family) and they didn't have a problem with it, whereas in some places we get a weird sigh when we all order water. I'll be back, and I'll try to finish sampling all the dishes I didn't get to. Oh and ALSO, the Chinese Donuts were melting in your mouth fresh. The problem with China Bistro is they're just not that busy... at lunch anyways. We go here quite often but I will review a recent visit. Lunch last Friday: We arrived early, 11:25 am or so to find only one other couple having lunch. It's about what I expected as we've lunched here before and there's never more than a couple of other tables eating. Here's the strange part: The couple dining had a variety of food on their plates so I can only surmise they were eating from the buffet which is also what we ordered. As we walked up to the buffet, we noted that it was entirely empty and our waitress and some kitchen staff were busily trying to fill the steam tables. Did they remove the food from the buffet after the first couple got what they wanted? What the hell is going on here. So we loaded up on just a few items for our initial buffet run since it's all they had out. The second trip up they had about half of the steam trays filled with food so we tried a few other selections. The food is unremarkable. Not bad, but not great either and certainly not overly warm. Some of it was actually cool. The staff are very friendly. I like that. The area around the hostess station where the cash register is located is tremendously cluttered with crap that should be out of customer view. It's a simple but elegant restaurant and this clutter ruins the experience. If you're in a hurry and arrive after noon this could be a good location. You'll be in and out very quickly and they might have the buffet filled by that time. Hopefully, other diners will be there to hurry the buffet-filling process. read more

Worst restaurant in Billings, MT. The only thing colder than the service is the temperature of the restaurant. After ordering soups and entrees, 61 minutes passed before receiving our soup. The restaurant was not as full as the McDonald's across the parking lot so there was no volume issue. The food taste was very subpar as the tag line of the restaurant should somehow include "It tastes like Chinese food. ...in Montana." If you're pondering this place for a pleasant dining experience, you're better off getting donuts at the DMV. read more

I know that the use of MSG powder in restaurants has been disallowed for a while, but it may be the only viable solution for such bland food. Customer satisfaction must not be high on the priority list, either. I was pleased to find this place had "traditional" American Chinese (egg drop soup, crab Rangoon wontons, egg rolls, etc...) as most of the restaurants that used to serve that have closed in Billings. If you love a good aesthetic, old school Chinese restaurant with the most space in town, and selection, with fine calming music to enjoy some dirty, greasy food. We'll shoot, it's my favorite buffet to go to in town. I've had movie inspirations from sitting in there with my buddies at 9pm. Yikes! $56 for a family, $15 an adult and that doesn't include drink. This is their most expensive, Saturday night, (best food) Hope we don't get sick! The sushi looks old, the Thousand Island looks old. I guess if the money went into the restaurant it may be ok, but the bathrooms, LOOK OUT the doors don't latch. Stall walls dirty. No soap. The owner is very unpleasant and instead of asking what we thought of the food or offering a refill he said, "What are kids' ages?" When he came back he plopped the bill and left. No "thank you". This place is by far the worst Chinese buffet I've ever been to. All of the meat was spongy, the sushi looked like fish bait. My iced tea tasted like stale tea bags. The egg flower soup was decent and the vegetable foo young was ok but super greasy. Aside from that I have nothing good to say. It was a waste of money. I ate about 6 bites of food. I first found this restaurant through Uber eats and quickly became a fan. So we took the entire family in to eat the buffet. The honey chicken is my absolute favorite, but everything has great taste.
