This restaurant is nice. The waitress is superb and always brings more water as quickly as I finished one. Please read my last review because it is exactly the same this second visit. Most dishes that have a sauce. The chicken is almost the same. It's fairly heavily breaded with a sauce on it. Of course, with Chinese food it's laid in with oils. But there are a few things that I definitely enjoy although this time not quite as much as last. I find the service is wonderful. I find that the food is atypical of buffets and a little bit above some that I've been to the beef dishes. I just feel the beef is so tenderize it taste like it's already been chewed. Hate to say that, but it just has an odd texture. That's really all the bad I have to say other than that like I said it's a little step above some buffets that I've been to. I like when the food is very hot and a lot of times at these buffets it's kind of lukewarm. A couple dishes were just kind of lukewarm. For the first time, I really enjoyed the crab bake. I think I'll try it from now on because it was really good. They do have hot chili oil as well as Sriracha sauce over by the dessert table.. I know I'll be back again because it's sister's favorite. She loves the AUCE. Not so much myself. What I really look for as a hibachi or Mongolian barbecue because then they cook it right in front of you and it's steaming hot. They do not have one at this location, however the food in general is better than another Asian buffet that we frequent. While the buffet is very good, we have never been greeted with a smile by the hostess/waitress. She acts like we are bothering here by patronizing the place that provides her paycheck. She gives off the appearance that she hates her job, and being there. Very poor customer service. read more

This shit is bangin. The people are usually pretty nice sometimes they can come off as rude but everyone has a bad day. Crab rangoons are probably the best food ever made and I make sure to get exactly 4 on every plate. Staff is always so rude. In all the years we have been here. I don't frequent often but everytime I have been there only once was one of the staff halfway friendly. I don't believe it's a cultural difference. I've seen them be friendly w my niece and brother-in-law. But otherwise not friendly. I am very friendly and out going and these people can't give you the time of day. I say please and thank you and they are huffing and gruff. Just general niceties. The food isn't the best I've had. The food is always good and we would come here more often; however, if you're looking for a clean place to eat, this is not the place to go. The floor always looks dirty and trash seems to be always full. The tables/booth seats also look like they need a good wipe down. We would even overlook these issues if the employee was a nicer person. We have a hard time understanding her and when you have to re-ask a question, she gets rude, and forget about a smile, or even a thank you for supporting them. (You can tell when a person is smiling even if we're wearing masks) Just wish we got the feeling that they appreciated our business. We love to support local businesses!! read more

Okay, so, I normally don't post things like this because everyone has bad days. We have been going to China buffet in cheboygan for about 7 years, multiple times a week (about once every week). There is one worker there who is a server and I almost bumped into her and said ope sorry hun and she called me stupid. This is not the first time she has been rude. When we go there she rolls her eyes, she walks away when we talk or have a question, a whole number of things. I am very disappointed because I love their food and their pricing is amazing! I will not be returning after today because of how she (that one waitress) has treated ALL her customers. 7 years of loyalty to a business and we stopped leaving tip about a month ago because of how she treats us. Tiping is always optional and being a woman who has worked in the restaurant business (I was a server) I ALWAYS tip based on performance. We stopped tiping about a month ago (after 7 years). The hot and sour soup was quite good and steaming hot. However, other dishes from their steam tables were lukewarm at best. I liked their crab Rangoon, but other staples from the buffet were bordering on room temperature and not very appetizing. I didn't eat any of the sushi, but it didn't look appealing. OH my God I want to cry when I think about northern Michigan food! There are no good places to eat up here period!!! THis place is a dump! The food is horrible!!! It tastes nothing like Chinese food is supposed to taste like. They don't even use the right ingredients. I just ordered takeout and figured I would get a very simple traditional dish that they couldn't possibly screw up (chicken chop suey) and it was horrible beyond belief. Instead of using bean sprouts they used like 50 pounds of steamed onions, carrots, and baby corn and the chicken had hardly no taste at all. Actually nothing had any taste to it what so ever? You couldn't even taste the onion and it was full of onions. I seriously think I am going to puke! They did this to me last time I ordered there when I ordered the almond chicken dinner and sweet and sour pork. They both were absolutely horrible and tasted nothing like they were supposed to. The pork was so old and overcooked that it was way too dry and hard to chew and the chicken was buried in about 40 pounds of broccoli and carrots. Who in the hell puts that in almond chicken besides these ass clowns? They also put like a pound of soft/stale almonds on the chicken that was gross. Oh my God I miss Detroit food! read more

My family was craving Asian food and we were staying in Mackinaw city. There is only one "Asian" restaurant open. The other was closed. So we found this place and was glad it was a buffet too. Usually the service is great. But the last time we went, they never came over to see if we needed refills on drinks or take our used plates. Some food was cold and the worst part was the waitress never bothered to ask my sister if she was done with her food and just took the plate from her. So rude.
