Love this place! I got stranded in Ontario during a road trip, and I ate here twice. Buffet costs $14.99, which is pretty decent, for unlimited time all-you-can-eat. They had maybe 40ish entree items on offer, not counting the several dozen salad options and a self-serve ice cream station with ten different flavors. Staff was very nice - the clientele, not so much. The other patrons seemed to intuit I was from out of town and kept giving me the stink-eye, though we had no interactions. If you're an English speaker, be prepared for other guests to glare at you, just a little bit. But you can't hold that against the restaurant itself - awesome place and pretty good food at a fantastic price! Only weird thing: don't use the restroom. We came here passing through on the 4th of July. It was actually our second time here as we had stayed in Ontario a few years back. What made us come back and would drive us to come back again is the value, variety, and good food quality. While it's still buffet grade food quality, the variety was great, most of the dishes were relatively fresh, and there was something to fit everybody. From fruit and veggies to grilled chicken, fried varieties, and desserts, everyone including our 2 year old left happy. Self serve ice cream was actually really good. I would give a zero, but it isn't possible. The food was cold and did not taste good. When I brought up that the food was cold, the waitress just walked away. I have eaten here 4 times. They have some pretty good dishes. The seafood delight is awesome. They are not that quick to refill it when it is empty though. Most of the dishes taste like you would generally find at a typical Chinese buffet. The service is friendly and quick. The place usually has about 10 other tables occupied when I have been there. The one thing that sets this place apart is that they have real hand dipped ice cream as part of the buffet. I have never been to a Chinese buffet that had that and it is really nice compared to that yellow soft serve most buffers carry. The price is reasonable. China Buffet! This is where I had my first date with my ex. It's where I experienced dinner with my former in-laws. It's the first sit-in restaurant I took my son to. I have a lot of very special memories of this place, and a lot of good things to say about it. I was told that the quality of food there used to be so much better, and I can see that. I was told they used to have crab there, and that the crab was fantastic, which yeah. Crab is awesome. But even though I didn't get to experience it in its apparent hay day, I actually really like the food, and I've made myself sick overeating there more than once. I'm also a sucker for a really good aesthetic, and China buffet has that in spades. It's beautiful in there, and the artwork and decoration almost makes you feel like you've been transported to another place. The employees there are pleasant and helpful, and i think that's important at a place like that. Really the only thing that could be improved is the feeling of the chef's passion for food. The selection feels somehow generic, and that hurts to say, because that place means so much to me. The food tastes great, but it's missing that magic that the rest of the place has. This is the best Chinese restaurant in the Payette-Malhuer area. All the food is good, but this place sometimes has freshness issues. Also, they tend to be slow to refill items, especially during busy times. Hichlights of the buffet are the egg rolls, teriyaki chicken skewers, pepper shrimp, peanut chicken, and the soups are very good as well. The style here is totally Cantonese. Literally just walked out about 5 minutes ago. Worst "Chinese Buffet" I've ever had. Barely touched any of the 8 different foods I tried. Rubbery, cold, squishy or tough.
