I can remember watching the old "Happy Day" show and thinking how crazy to have burger shops with outdoor service and all. Then to be able and take a nice drive through to Emmett and actually have a pull up and order place to eat. Yup, with good music playing. The menu is what you would expect, burgers, hot dogs fries and rings. Some other food choices as well but the shakes, good! A double deluxe burger with curly fries and sauce are a go to for me. Onion rings and a shake, good. They do have chicken strips, couple sandwich and Mexican food options. But the burgers and fries are the best. Sit outside at the small eating area and watch the flow of traffic catch you digging in to some good food. My family likes it and the grandkids devoured the food just to grab a frozen yogurt. Stopped in on our drive to McCall and got absolutely fantastic burgers, fries and shakes! It did take over 20 min to get the food which seemed a bit long, but the cashier apologized for the wait and our food was piping hot and delicious! Burger was juicy and not made of fatty or low quality meat- it was truly a tasty burger. What's cute about this place is you can call ahead and order for pick up, order at the window, or pull up and order at a drive up station. Like the old fashioned burger joint!! We couldn't order at a car drive up station because we were pulling a small trailer behind our car and there wasn't a long station to accommodate this (hint: consider adding a couple long stations for people pulling a small trailer). Definitely stop here if you're making a drive through the area! read more

We have been going to Roe Ann for many years. Our go to spot heading up and back from hunting. The portions have changed drastically. Burgers are now like the size of Wendy's Jr burgers. Their giant BLT has 3 pieces of bacon on it now and is no longer on their thick Texas toast style bread. And their huge chicken tender basket that had 3-4 large chicken breast tenders is now 2 small tenders that you would get out of a Costco bag. Tots are now Tater Sticks and you get 8-10. Prices are still all the same but the quality and portion sizes are gone. Very sad for such an iconic drive-in in Emmett. Very disappointing. I'd rather pay a little more than see such drastic changes to the quality and quantity. read more

This is just one of those places where I have to say I don't get it. After all the rave reviews and people in Emmett who love this place I left disappointing. Maybe my expectations are too high. I was trying to catch a quick meal between appointments so I went through the drive-through. It was extremely slow but I understand stuff happens. I got to the window and had to wait a bit but the window was open and I could see a kitchen full of flies. EEEUW! I guess I was expecting something that tasted like a home grilled hamburger. What I got was your typical fast food frozen burger, Cold fries and the wrong drink. If there was nothing else available and I really needed some food I might give it a second try. I've eaten at a good number of road side burger shacks. Nothing better than finding a gem. This place is decent. Not my favorite but not the worst. When trying a new burger joint I always get a bacon cheeseburger. I feel it's a good place to start. Burger itself wasn't bad. Produce was all fresh. It's what I expect. Topped with ketchup, lettuce, pickle, tomato and seasoned with salt & pepper. I order without onion. Their standard burger is maybe an 1/8 pound if I had to guess. It was not 1/4. Seemed more like a well dressed kid burger. That's not a bad thing. Ordered the 50's fries. Not impressed with the fries at all. They were a thicker cut with skin on but under cooked. Soft and under seasoned. They were hot and fresh cooked just not long enough. Didn't eat half of them. Too bad. What they did get right was the Mountain Berry Shake. I'd drive there just for that thick milkshake. Friendly workers who greeted with smiles. Just need to cook the fries longer... read more

This was a miss for us today. Read all of the reviews, appreciate the concept and history, but food was just ok. Nothing to write home about. I think they have the world's smallest ketchup cup. Medium onion rings were not enough to share, but were good. Glad we stopped, but probably won't be back. read more

During this time of shelter in place my husband and I decided to go on a 'Drive Through Date.' We drove to the beautiful city of Emmett to find some local dig to support and fill our stomachs. I'm a sucker for a hole in the wall, greasy burger place and Roe Ann's caught my eye. The thing I liked most about this place is the nostalgia. Who doesn't want to pretend they are from the 50's having a dime hamburger at the local car hop? The menu alone gifted us with a few chuckles. It was very blunt but with comedic affect (see pictures of menu). The staff were super nice and quick with our order but unfortunately that is about all I liked about this place. The food tasted fairly bland and I'm guessing the culprit is a bunch of frozen food items. The burgers do say they are 100% beef and hand formed, but it was lacking serious flavor and heartiness. The shrimp's texture was so very strange, almost mushy. It turned me off so much that I only had one and couldn't eat anymore (as one of the most expensive things on the menu, I expected more). The fries were so-so at best. Very limp and sad. I have an extremely hard time giving local establishments a bad review, hence why I settled on three stars instead of lower. But I just couldn't get over the taste of the food and so sadly I must dock a few points thusly. read more

We have come here a few times even though we don't live in the area. We liked the onion rings, burgers and shakes. Today was a big disappointment. First, we ordered our quarter pound burgers with only the burger, onions and bun. Nothing else on it and two large union rings. Both burgers had everything on it, however it had no onions. We let that go. However, as I was eating I looked at the prices of the items we ordered on their menu as we felt the amount the server told us ($30.01) was too high. Two burgers $6.99 each and two large onion rings $4.75 each. That comes to $23.48. Unless taxes are almost 30% that guy stuck it us. We will not be back. read more

Food isn't that great, my mother in law brings burgers home every now and then and every time it's just not that good. I haven't interacted with the staff so I cannot speak on that end or the atmosphere. I would say this is the middle of the road as far as stars go. I didn't find it to be too impressive yet too disappointing. The one thing I admire about Idaho is the life of the Drive-In still thriving. The concept makes me smile so when I want a splurge, I often hit up an oldy but a goody Drive-In. Roe Ann's was pretty busy. All the car slots were full, the drive through was packed and the walk up had a few people waiting. I only ordered a burger and a vanilla cone and I waited for 20 minutes. I understand that they are busy but I found it to be silly at a "fast food" establishment. I am pretty patient so I didn't let it ruin my experience but let it be known, it wasn't fast. My burger was a burger. I was craving a juicy, delectable sandwich but my burger didn't set my craving free. Meaning, I was still craving a burger after eating a burger. I did find the vanilla cone to be delicious! I can eat ice cream year around and I was happy with my cold choice. I think this is a great place to hit up and check out. To me it more of the experience you have when eating at a drive-in rather than having it be a place to come for 5 star food. We need places like that so I left with a smile! read more

Talk about a blast from the past and a hidden gem in Emmett, Idaho! This diner is legit still stuck in the 1950s with hand held telephones you use to order with when you drive up to park. They also have the walk up or drive through windows. The six dollar big bob burger was three, thick 1/3lb juicy beef patties that were extremely cheesy and cooked perfectly. I included everything on it. I had the garlic fries which had a ton of flavor and mini mozzarella sticks that came with a marinara dip. The raspberry mint milk shake was superbly creamy and packed with a perfect blend of the flavors. The service was good and food hot! This place was well worth the drive and if your looking for an old fashioned burger and milkshake that hasn't been modernized, check this place out! read more

I have been eating here for a few years and always had good food, but tonight I had ordered my finger stakes and asked for both BBQ sauce and cocktail sauce, since my wife wanted to share ( tonight was her birthday) the gal said no problem, I paid with my card and went and sat down waited for my food. I got my order, and it only had the BBQ sauce, so I went up thinking they simply forgot it, and that would be no problem. Well, the guy with the beard came to the door and yelled at me it's another .50, and I told him it would have been nice to know that when I paid, since I used my card and all, then he rudly repeated that it would be another .50, and he was too busy to deal with this.. ( btw it was the slowest I have ever seen it, maybe 6 or 7 customers) So I sat back down, and about 5 minutes later, he came back out and pretty much threw the cocktail sauce at me. I don't know if this bearded man was the manager or in charge, but I don't think I will be back and its only becuase the way he treated me and wife tonight and I will tell everyone about how I was treated today. read more
