Let's begin with the good. The customer service was excellent! I walked in and after looking over the menu for a few minutes I was greeted and asked if I had any questions, which I appreciated so much. Even though the ambiance kind of reminded me of a gas station restaurant. I finally settled on the two meat plate which had half a slab of ribs and smoked pork sausage which I was told was smoked right there at the restaurant. I placed my order which came with a 20oz drink, a dessert "banana" pudding, and barbecue beans. The ribs were okay super tender and falling off the bone but the flavor was lacking. I really appreciated all the different types and flavors of sauce but that couldn't save the ribs. As a person who grew up eating my mother's homemade banana pudding, I couldn't even try to eat what they were calling "banana" pudding. The barbecue beans had too many beans in it and no meat, for some reason I thought there would be meat in the barbecue beans. All this to say, I was underwhelmed by every part of this experience besides the customer service. I even asked a guy who was throwing away his empty food tray "how was it?" His reply was excellent? Maybe in Idaho? After all "good" and "bad" is relative. I don't think I need to have this experience again. read more

A small BBQ joint sharing a building with the Shell gas station in Fruitland, ID. It was a pizza place at one time. There are about 10 tables with a small bit of decor and a TV. Orders are taken and delivered at the counter. They have daily specials listed on the chalkboard. One of the specials was a new chili mac burrito, so I thought I would give that a shot, with brisket as my meat of choice. Pretty good burrito, I could taste all three ingredients, plenty of smokiness. They have quite a few BBQ sauces to choose from as well. I will have to try their ribs the next time I go. Drinks are at the soda station in the gas station store. Very good place for lunch. read more

On a recent trip to Ontario, we drove across the street to Fruitland to rustle up some BBQ. Yes, the Rustic Pig is attached to a gas station. But that's no different than many fast food restaurants you now see attached to gas stations. There was plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Service was quick! While I lean towards preferring meat well done, the brisket was a bit too well done for my taste. The smoked sauce was definitely smoky! The toast was excellent, as was the banana pudding. I especially loved the great selection of BBQ sauces available. Something for everyone! read more

Awesome brisket and garlic mashed potatoes. Kind folks who served me up. It was a bit expensive but it was delicious. I never eat out but maybe once a year for take out. I am super poor but these folks took care of me. I wish I could have left a hefty tip but every thing these days goes on a credit card without means to pay them off. read more

It's a BBQ place in a gas station with the ambiance of a cafeteria, but people come here for the food, which is all fantastic. They also have a variety of their own sauces and sides. The food here is so good, it doesn't need to be in a fancy place (but the food is better than a lot of fancy BBQ places). read more

Came thru town and was wanting a good meal co workers decided to grab some bbq and the brisket and ribs were on point the chicken is shredded not whole but it was good as well you have to grab all the different sauces and try them it was so good that I bought a 2 bottles of bbq sauces the the cheese mashed potatoes and Mac cheese and potatoes salad were so good, must stop and try service was on point very nice. read more

Just picked up my order. Young woman with brown hair was halfway thru dishing up my order when she decided to help someone who just sho up at the register. It would have taken maybe 10-15 seconds to finish my order first. Then she went to the back of the store for whatever. When she comes back I ask her about my order. She has the audacity to give me the raised eyebrows like I'm out of line. The youth of today are so entitled. I will never go here again read more

Good food. Ribs were very tender, but at $80 for a family meal of ribs and two small containers of sides, not much of a value. The counter help also didn't ask if we wanted BBQ sauce when we picked up our takeout order. It's a coin flip if we go back due to cost per person and service. read more

Located inside a gas station in Fruitland, Rustic Pig BBQ is some of the best barbecue I have had in Idaho. It is well worth the drive! It was a very hot summer day, but I love barbecue and it's not every day that I'm in Fruitland, so I did my best to try sample as much of the menu as I could. I ordered the 1 Meat Plate, which came with a drink, a side, bread, and pudding. I ordered 4 more small sides. Here is what I tried: Pulled Pork Mac 'n Cheese with Bacon Garlic Mashed Potatoes Spicy Baked Beans (they have regular Baked Beans too) Potato Salad Cole Slaw Banana Pudding I was also offered a free sample of brisket. Both the pulled pork and brisket were excellent! There were six homemade barbecue sauces. They were all excellent! I loved all of the sides, except for the potato salad. The banana pudding was very good! I wanted to try the chocolate pudding too, but I had to draw the line somewhere. Highly Recommended!!! read more

The guy taking orders was great. Reminded me of Andre the Giant. Very nice guy. I really liked the baked beans and the potato salad had a great taste and consistency, but they were so cold that they had ice in them. I liked the sausage. The chicken and brisket were not bad, but there was no smoke flavor and were a bit dry/over cooked. The chocolate pudding was even bland. Not the worst bbq, but definitely not the best. read more

I'm so disappointed with this place. I ordered through a delivery service a bunch of bbq and they failed to include my bbq sauce. The delivery driver said they even asked if it was in there and was told it was. The food was ok but honestly it ruined my meal. read more

Had some of their pulled pork the other night and it was amazing. My husband stopped in and got two slider buns with a container of pulled pork. Perfect combo of smoke and texture. I'm not a huge fan of the smoked (tougher) layer that gets mixed in when shredded and there was hardly any in it. My husband said the guys working were extremely nice. Normally, when food is associated with a gas station, I avoid it unless I'm looking to shed a couple pounds. However if you like good smoked barbecue, I would recommend this place. Brisket was a 8 out of 10, meaning it was pretty damn good. Cole slaw was good, some spicy mustard would've made it amazing. The bacon macaroni was evil and kept forcing my lactose intolerant self to eat more. Git some read more

So I LOVE BBQ. I mean I could eat it every day forever probably. Brisket is one of my favorites. When I go some where new I always go for brisket. The store is attached to a gas station which is a little weird, but I have eaten in stranger places. No big deal. Eat, gas, go.. They prices were a little steep, I thought for a meat plate, but this isn't D..k.e's BBQ. I had a two meat plate with one side. Brisket, pulled pork and coke slaw. I also got a small 4oz BBQ beans. It comes with Texas Toast, pudding and. Drink. I have to say that I was impressed by how well it was. The brisket was juicy and tender but not crumbly. Fairly solid when I put a fork to it, but tore apart nicely. I give it 5 stars. The pulled pork was very tender and moist. There was some fat in it that I find off putting, overall 4 stars. The coleslaw was ok.. not a wow. I watched them open a bag of slaw mix and a jug of dressing. 3 stars. The BBQ beans, were good, not sure how they make those but there could have been a more bang. Kind of bland for me, I like a little more pow. 3 stars. I put some of their sauce it in and that helped it. The pudding... well it was banana. I like banana. But this was a little sad. There were bananas it but they were brown and the pudding was a little watery. Which makes me think it was a day or so old. 2 star. Sauces.. sweet and tangy and Carolina Gold. I want to open the bottle and drink. I like them a lot. They have others which I will try on another trip. 5 stars I gave them a 5 star overall, because I think they are definitely there This could have just been an off day for Beans and pudding. Went with a group of 5 people, we all ordered different meats and sides. We tasted each other's sides and meats. EVERYTHING and I mean everything was amazing!!! All the meats were moist and tender, not overdone, they all were smoked and flavored to perfection! Every meal comes with a drink and pudding (chocolate or banana). It's a little far from Boise, but my husband loves BBQ so he wanted to make the trip. Fast service, friendly and helpful staff. The staff really seemed engaged and committed to the food and to customers. We got a variety of items, pulled pork, smoked sausage, ribs, and a brisket sandwich with bacon mac and cheese. Food was okay. Dining experience is gas station seating, cold in the winter. If you like the food, take it to go, don't take your elderly parents with you thinking you'll have a nice sit down lunch together. We had to hang out by the gas station drink dispenser to wait for a table. We all had something different. Thought I would take a ride out to Fruitland and try this place out. I ordered the 2 meat platter and got some bacon mac and cheese and the beans. The meats I ordered where the brisket and pulled pork and I found both cooked very well and we're tasty. There was a nice selection of sauces on the table which I enjoyed. The beans seemed undercooked and had no smoky flavor. The mac and cheese was similar to the store bought stuff with bacon in it. I would he enjoyed a piece of Texas toast on my plate. Overall I would just say that this is a solid place with good food and worth visiting. However, I wouldn't say it's one of the best in Idaho. read more

SO GOOD. I'm a very picky meat eater (a total wuss when it comes to bones, veins, fat, gristle..)-- but years of travel through Texas has taught me that a brisket plate usually has a few tasty morsels I can handle. Well, I tell ya, I cleared the entire brisket meat plate at the Rustic Pig. The meat just fell apart, was so deliciously smoked, and the cut was nice and tender and not too fatty. Plus, the bacon Mac and cheese was up there with some of my favorite restaurant macs of all time. I'm extremely macaroni discerning (some might say excessively so) and this Mac was *chef's kiss* with legitimately crispy bacon (just say no to floppy bacon), and melty goodness. Green beans were also great and the pudding dessert is a great extra touch read more

Fantastic BBQ. We had the meal plates and they were each really good. We had the tri-tip, brisket and sausage and each was super good. We all went with the sweet and tangy sauce. We had the sides of BBQ beans and Mac and bacon and they were tasty. The inclusion of the pudding was good, but the banana pudding was a better choice to accompany the BBQ. It is a great stop in Fruitland. Only bummer for us was that we don't live close by but it will give us something to look forward to when we're in town. read more

Solid, but not amazing barbecue place. The barbecue is good, sauces are good, but imo their sides could use a little more effort. They tend to be on the bland side. How did this place get 4/5 on average ? Currently on a roadtrip from Houston to Seattle and back again and the plate of gray chew toys I was served masquerading as BBQ is absolute & complete blasphemy to the art of cooking meat. By far, it was the worst meal I've had on the road and that includes drive-thru fast food, that's how f*cking terrible this was ( excuse my french ). Everything else on the plate was clearly out of a box and they have teenagers running the joint - the whole endeavor is laughable. How they have lasted more than a week in business is BEYOND ME. Avoid at all costs and wait till the next major city to get real food. read more

This restaurant is new to the community of Fruitland. It has excellent BBQ with several meat choices to tantalize your taste buds. Excellent Bacon Mac and Cheese and Coke Slaw that is the best around by far. This restaurant is located within the gas station and is very clean and has great decor. Staff is very friendly and eager to help you get some great food very quickly. The prices are excellent and very inexpensive for the quality and amount of food you receive. I would most definitely eat here again and urge my friends and family to experience the amazing food from this establishment. I have experienced Dickey's BBQ and Famous Dave's BBQ. They don't hold a candle to the quality and taste of this BBQ restaurant. A+++ in my book. read more
