This is my favorite Chinese restaurant. I have recently moved to California and I am missing the chicken lo mein from here. Was it a bit greasy? Yes. But that is what makes it taste so good. As for the other reviews about the restaurant itself, it Channahon people. You aren't going to find four star dining anywhere. It's your typical take out Chinese place. The staff is nice. They even have teenagers working there to answer the phones and do delivery. Sometimes it can be hard to understand accents over the phone and this eliminates the issue. In conclusion I love this place and it is sorely missed now that I have moved away! read more

These business owners are a bit ruthless. 1) If you order the lunch special by itself, your delivery is pushed to the end of the line. It will be 1 hour until it arrives. 2) the first time I ordered from this place, the male business owner told me that the combination fried rice only comes with 2 of the proteins, not all 3. So I ordered as such. Every time (at least 3 more times) since then, it has come with everything as advertised on the menu. He was just trying to make an extra dollar by cheating me that time, as he probably thought I'm not a returning customer. 3) Szechuan does not mean Szechuan at this place. Anything called "Szechuan" anything has ZERO Szechuan pepper in it. It's a marketing ploy or something. They think Americans will not know. It's not authentic whatsoever. read more

Listen - the food is phenomenal. I live out of state, but when I'm back in town. I pay a visit. Get the chicken with garlic sauce, a side of pork fried, crab rangoon, and a veggie lo mein. People who are complaining about the wait need to understand its a small operation and only one guy cooking the food because its LEGIT and an additional wait time is a small price to pay for the deliciousness. read more

Nihao! Fantastic selection of both Chinese and Thai foods that are high quality, delicious and made to order. They are very gracious in holding off with MSG and our other requests being vegetarians. Always friendly, kind and on time with take away orders. I recommend this restaurant frequently and people are always surprised how great the food selections are. Food is only okay and they're EXTREMELY SLOW. Asked simply for a pork fried rice. Was told 15 minutes. I get there 15 minutes later, and was told I had to wait. Finally, 45 minutes later, I get my food. They weren't even that busy. I think they just flat out forgot. Multiple other customers there at the same time as me had the same complaint. A previous time I was here I only had to wait 30 minutes and I got lo mein (which was actually good), and sweet n sour chicken. The sweet n sour was just bad. Sauce tasted like it was made in a lab and the red food dye put in it just looked terrible. The pieces of chicken are small. Also, it was cold when given to me even though I had to wait 10 minutes in the restaurant. In short, they've lost my business forever. Which is a shame, as I live right around the corner from them. I'll be driving the extra few minutes to dragon inn when I want Chinese now. read more

Placed a phone order for pickup. Arrived 20 minutes later to pick up the order. The cashier immediately asked for payment. Then we waited 35 minutes for the food. Clearly they did not start preparing the order until they had received payment. Then while we were driving home, the cook called to say that he had forgotten to put the rice that should have been included into the bag and that we should come back to pick it up. NO WAY! Food tasted like something I would have gotten out of the frozen section at Jewel & heated up in the microwave. Order wasn't correct specifically a side that I ordered due to being allergic to eggs. Food was hot & ready in 30 minutes, but wasn't tasty. read more

Your typical Chinese food, it was ok. But the "Shrimp with mixed Vegetables" only had a few shrimps (5?), then the rest of food, which I thought was going to be vegetables, turned out to be onions!! ($0.79 lb at Walmart). ... I do not mind onions, but NOT when there are lots of them, . ... I was so overwhelmed by the onions, I had to start picking them out, it was really easy because there were so many! When I finished, I had picked a cup full of onions! Out of the 4 dinners we ordered, not everyone was satisfied. Another issue was the Mongolians beef we ordered, this item literally only had 5 (five) pieces of beef in it!!. The rest was mostly onions (again), and some mushrooms & carrots. This was very disappointing, although the meat was good. Fortunately, we shared our dinners, if we did not do this, this one person would NOT have had that much to eat in her order. We went back and mentioned the fact of so MANY onions in our dinners, and the lack of shrimp and beef, to one of the workers at the cash register, to see if somebody (management) would do something about this??? ,,,, Example: give us a discount, or make up for it some way. The lady (perhaps the owner) said: "No, this is the way we cook our food!" Me and the boy were out, and actually looking for a different Chinese joint which happened to be closed on Mondays when we wound up at China Chen. I kept thinking "Man this place is gonna suck." I was actually quite surprised. The inside doesn't look like much, just some tables spread out throughout the restaurant. I had a taste for a coca cola, but they only had cans which kind of disappointed me because I didn't want to keep purchasing cans. ( it's 2012 people buy a soda fountain!!) Anyhow I went for the unsweetened ice tea which had a weird taste. It kind of tasted like a cigarette. I don't think I've ever had anything like it. The egg rolls came out- they were burning hot and very good! We had the regular egg roll, and chicken egg rolls. The regular egg roll was good, but the chicken egg roll was amazing!!! I kept thinking about ordering more chicken rolls, but I'm glad I didn't because I couldn't finish my lunch. I ordered the Mongolian beef! It was soooooo good!! Nice and spicy. A very good flavor to it. We also had an order of fried chicken wings- Chinese people can fry some damn chicken. That's one thing I've noticed consistently is that Chinese people can do that well. Okay! #Snap That chicken made me wanna slap my mama. I was so shocked to find a place so good outside of Chicago because there are so many mediocre to nasty Chinese restaurants around that people rave about and I don't see the big deal. I've only been here once and I will come again. We were heading home from Chicago and got a taste for Chinese food. Unfortunately, we didn't think of it until to late for China Town and the traffic was too heavy for our favorite suburban places. This place, being just a skip off I55, looked promising. We were not disappointed. We chose the dinner for 2 ($30). Egg drop soup with fresh green onions, egg roll, crab Rangoon, and fried shrimp were the appetizers, all very good. The main courses were sweet and sour chicken, four seasons, and chicken fried rice. Good S&S sauce with plenty of pineapple. Four seasons is a mix of beef, chicken, pork, shrimp, and a bazillion veggies. The star, in my opinion, was the fried rice. Deep, rich color and flavor and crisp sprouts. This is what will bring us back. I haven't found good fried rice or egg rolls in Peoria, yet. read more

Yuck. The restaurant smells very musty and has a slight odor of rotting food. I ordered the shrimp fried rice, shrimp egg foo young and an order of egg rolls. I was told that they had no bean sprouts (!) so the egg foo young would be made with cabbage instead. When I got the food home, some of the the rice was burned, the egg rolls had a "dirty, old oil" taste and every bite of the egg foo young had bits of egg shell in it! Delicious pork fried rice, which a large will set you back $6.45 and its big enough to get a few meals out of it. The pork has that red color and it almost seems caramelized. I'm also a big fan of the chicken nuggets ($4.75), which the crispy breading makes them practically addicting. Not really any different from your typical Chinese take out place, which are pretty much in every town. read more

I've absolutely had it. There is not one decent Chinese restaurant in the Channahon/Minooka area. Ordered some Thai noodles with chicken and got a tray full of over-salted, over-cooked crap pretending to be Asian food. The chicken had some funky breeding on it that I have never had on any Thai dish. The potstickers tasted store bought and served with some horrible pot sticker sauce that tasted like pure soy sauce. No ginger or onion in it. Egg rolls greasy as heck too. Took it back for a refund. I have no idea how the place stays in business judging that it was completely empty on a Saturday night. Please be careful what you order from here. First and last time customer. I order the shrimp and lobster sauce. So I expect shrimp and lobster sauce. To my surprise it had pork in. Made me extremely sick. I havent had pork in years. I called and spoke to Amanda Lee and she was extremely rude when I ask why isn't pork mentioned on the menu for people like myself who dont eat pork or red meat. Her response was. that's how its made and that I have to ask what's in. I have had shrimp and lobster sauce and never had pork in it. Now normally you ask how you make the sauce but to have pieces of pork meat in it is ridiculous. That should be specified on the menu. I will never eat here again. Please do yourself a favor and ask if its beef or pork in your food if you clearly ask for shrimp or chicken. Where is the warning this food may contain... for people with allergies or etc. read more

My boyfriend and I have enjoyed eating thai food and chinese food for a long time. We've also both worked in restaurants for a long time so we were pretty excited to try food from their thai menu. Some of the items were ok and by ok I mean most of the dishes were edible. IT WAS NOT THAI FOOD BY ANY MEANS! IT WAS CHINESE FOOD WITH A SLIGHT HINT OF THAI FLAVOR. However the meat quality was not bad and I actually enjoyed the shrimp. We also ordered coconut shrimp soup that was totally inedible. It looked and tasted like a sweet and sour sauce with coconut milk addrd to it. We also ordered chinese dumplings that totally sucked. They were bland and some parts were hard and chewy. The next time we spend 40 bucks on take out it will be from dragon inn, or I'll make my own at home. And also they was a review from a kid that used to work there that mentioned that "they are never packed" yeah that's not a good thing buddy! read more

I rate this restaurant a 5/5. Delivery is always fast to Minooka, dining in is great because its clean and there's interesting decor. Never had a problem with the staff and prices are very resonable considering portion sizes. I usually dont like fish but I tried one of there Tofu dishes and I really liked it. I have been trying alot of there dishes and have yet to dislike any. I would rather go to China Chen over the other Chinese restaurants in the Minooka area. read more
