Been there a while back and was surprised that the Conroe #1 Chinese restaurant was very Americanized and very bland on some of the dishes. Tried it again recently & it was about the same. The steam pot stickers were good, other dishes such as shrimp with vegetables & sesame beef were ok at best. Hot & sour soup was a miss as the soup base tasted wrong. Very flour gravy like. I ordered from China Delight for the first time today. I'll start with the good stuff first. The portions were generous, and the delivery via Uber Eats was very fast. We ordered General Tso's Chicken and Szechuan Beef. The Chicken was pretty good. There were some very large pieces of chicken, which was a bit different than what we normally get. Not really a problem, but usually the pieces are bite sized. The Szechuan Beef has a good flavor, but the beef pieces were very tough and chewy. Most Chinese restaurants velvet their meat to tenderize it. This was also cut along the grain vs. across the grain which helps to reduce the toughness. Overall just OK. read more

Figured I would give this place another chance and I regret it lol. The young guy who took my order was friendly and helpful, the old guy who gave me the food was rude and dismissive, I'm guessing son and father. But it was a to go order, so I just hoped the food was good. It is bad. Like, really bad. Tried China Delight for the first time last evening. Had order delivered and first impression was very pleased with the large portions and thinking what a great value. I tried the chicken and initially I thought it was a bit tough. Shortly after I immediately noticed the overpowering taste of salt. Holy high blood pressure! I love general Tso's and was so excited to try it from this restaurant, but other than the oversized portion (which was just more for me to throw away) there's not more I can say. I forgot to take pictures of the meals but it was less than decent. Completely over served with the vegetables and drowned in sauce, rather than the main protein I had ordered, Kung Pao Chicken. For my appetizer, I ordered the Special Fried Wontons w/ meat. I was given 10 like described in the menu, although some were fine, a few had meat that tasted completely bad. I still have a horrible taste in my mouth. Both the younger man at the register, and older woman server, were both extremely unfriendly and our whole meal felt completely rushed. The woman would get frustrated with the questions I'd ask regarding the menu as it was my first time eating there. The man at the register seemed as if he was completely irritable and made rude faces at customers and shrugged shoulders in frustration when an older couple had asked to be seated by the window. Then when the couples son later joined them, he completely stared him down and rolled his eyes in irritation as if he wasn't welcome to join his family.... All I know is that I will never recommend this poor excuse of a restaurant to anyone I know and will definitely never come again!!!! read more

Its East Texas, so yes, this Chinese restaurant plays country music. A little unusual, but yeehaw, y'all! I'm going to dispel some of the comments in the previous bad reviews. - The staff is VERY friendly and welcoming - Very quick to take the food and drink orders - The food that I had was VERY good They took my order really quick when they saw I was ready, and the food came out in 2-3 minutes. My first thought was "oh no, this isn't going to be good." But I was wrong. The food was fresh and PIPING hot - seriously! I had the Kung Pao Veggies entrée ($7.25) and the Hunan Veggies entrée ($7.50). Each entrée includes white steamed rice, but you can make it a combo with an egg roll and ham fried rice for 90 cents. I went with the steamed rice, no combo for me. Unbeknownst to me, each dish was served family style and would probably enough to feed 3 or 4 people - the serving sizes were HUGE. The Kung Pao Veggies included PLENTY of mushrooms (yum!) and a perfect balance of the rest of the veggies. The spice level was perfect and had great flavor. The Hunan Veggies plate had most of the same veggies as the Kung Pao dish but included bamboo shoots and onions. It was also slightly spicy but had a sweeter sauce in it. They also serve wine and beer. I was there the week before Christmas, so as a bonus, they gave me a Chinese "cane and wooden wall scroll" calendar. As I mentioned at the beginning, the staff was AWESOME here! They've been in business since 1984, so they must be doing something right. Stop in and give them a try folks! read more

Soooo...that banner reading "Voted Best...yada, yada..." was either stolen from a good restaurant, voted by the employees or the place changed owners in 2015 (the last year this place was "Best"). Food is flavorless and overpriced (Shanghai Beef, Orange Chicken, one soda and a side of lo mein noodles $35.00!). The "decor" is outright depressing. My wife and I go out to eat fairly often. We moved to Willis from out of state and are trying to find our new go to restaurants for Chinese, Mexican and bbq. This will not one of them. Went in on a Tuesday evening, there was one single person in the place. The wife ordered general Taos Pasta and she liked it. Large well cooked pieces of chicken thigh. I ordered shrimp with lobster sauce which is by far my favorite dish. Was very disappointed by this version. Shrimp were very bland, definitely precooked frozen. Lobster sauce was very watery and tasteless. I've had some great versions of this dish and some poor ones. This was as bad as I can remember. I was in the area and I was hungry. My friend recommended that I try this place because the food was good. I was open minded so we went. There was only a couple other guests in the restaurant at this time (around 8:30 pm) so we were immediately seated. The person who took us to our table, for whatever reason, looked like she didn't want to be there. Not a smile, not a greeting, nothing. Once we got to our table and before I even pulled out a chair to sit down, she was already asking what we wanted to drink. Like, for real? You wouldn't even wait until I was seated? Thankfully she didn't wait on us. An older Asian lady who was very friendly was the one waiting on us. We placed our orders (Szechuan Beef for her and General Tso's Chicken for me) and she went in. Not even five minutes later, she came back out with hot meals. This was probably the fastest I ever received my meal after ordering. Not even a fast food restaurant was that fast. The food was decent for an Americanized Chinese restaurant. They give you HUGE portions so that's a good thing. When you order a la carte, your dish comes with steamed rice. But for an additional $0.75 you get some fried rice and an eggrol - no brainer for me. Not a bad option if you live in the area and you're craving some Americanized Chinese food. But if you're like me and you're used to Chinese/Vietnamese food from Chinatown, then this place is not too memorable. read more

We love this restaurant. We have been going here for over 34 years. We always stop on our way thru Conroe whenever we get an opportunity. Our most recent visit was an order to go. We ordered their ribs, wonton soup and egg rolls. The egg rolls used to be thick and fresh made...they taste different now, the ribs were reheated and the wonton soup noodles were mushy with little flavor. Much seems to have changed. :( read more

Absolutely the most disgusting food I've ever eaten! We went for family lunch after church and ordered a family meal. The wonton soup had NO FLAVOR, the beef skewers were dry and flavorless. The egg rolls were decent, but nothing to brag about. When the main course arrived the rice was dry and overloaded with garlic, the chow mein was soggy/greasy and overloaded with garlic and the orange chicken was extremely crispy (like burnt/overfried) and dry, almost like a dry rub. We finally said something to the waitress and she had the audacity to say everyone else in the restaurant was eating their food and not complaining! Seriously! If I could give 0 stars I would! It was my first time coming here, I just moved into a new house in conroe (i'm from spring), and I am really enjoying it! The portions are huge, and the food is good! I liked how they added potatoes to the vegetable fried rice which I have never had before but it was tasty. They don't have spring rolls which is okay. We used to come here regularly, but haven't been for about 10 years. It has really gone down. I don't recommend it for anyone. I had the Kung Pao Shrimp. The shrimp was undercooked, the peanuts were raw, and it was swimming in some kind of sauce--definitely not caramelized spicy Kung Pao. The sweet and sour sauce and mustard sauce at table were off. read more

This place is my all time favorite Chinese restaurant in Conroe Texas. I always order the shrimp fried rice. Can't go wrong with that!
