The staff is terrific. My husband likes the honey chicken here better than another buffet in Conroe we tried. One time close to closing time the chicken was dry but when going back at lunch it was good again. I love that they make their own egg rolls and spring rolls too. The ice cream was great. The water tasted really pure. The employees were attentive and gave us all we needed, and they made fresh food just for us when our group came in 45 minutes before closing. I try to find something good about a place even when I give a bad review, but I can't think of one. 1. Walking in the front door the lobby smells like cigarette smoke. 2. Not much variety. What is there seems to be more toward American tastes and not so much Asian. For example, three kinds of potatoes. 3. The salmon was super salty. Inedible. 4. Okay the seafood casserole wasn't bad. 5. Sushi. Hang on. There is a lot to unpack here. It was room temperature so that made the taste wrong and it fell apart when you tried to pick it up. There aren't any chopsticks on the buffet. I had to go to the waitress station and get them myself. The wasabi. Usually wasabi is bright green with a grainy, thick texture like hard packed sand. Theirs was a very strange runny texture, like ketchup, and an odd teal color. It didn't mix well with the soy sauce. So instead of this nice blend of flavors, both the soy sauce and the wasabi were overpowering. It was extremely hot and extremely salty at the same time. It also didn't have that nice nose feeling you get from wasabi. It just left an unpleasant burning sensation in the mouth and throat. One of my greatest arguments for enjoying sushi is that it doesn't taste fishy. Instead you get the mild saltiness and warmth of the wasabi and soy, then a sesame taste followed by crunchy vegetables and the sweetness of the sushi rice and then maybe - maybe - a hint of fish taste from the tuna or salmon. But then it's just a small hint. This was fishy. And not just fishy but soggy. It was pretty bad. 6. Missing some things like salt and pepper shrimp, salt toasted pork ribs, calamari and spring rolls. 7. I didn't try anything else. I was too scared at that point. I always say you never know if something is good or not unless you try it. This was definitely not good and I wish I hadn't tried it. read more

I have been eating from this establishment for the past 12 years. When I first moved here there were very few Asian restaurants to eat at, but this was one of the few birthdays available. Ni's China Buffet on the South Loop in Conroe is open for DINE-IN and takeout!! They are going above and beyond to make sure every customer and each staff member is protected as much as possible. 50% capacity, social distancing seating, and they've installed a drive-thru for their customers who aren't able to inside. Gloves are provided (at no extra cost to the customers) for when you go to the buffet bar, but you're welcome to remove them at your table to eat. The front and back of house staff all wear masks and gloves throughout their shift, sanitizing the gloves in between customers to prevent cross-contamination. I checked yelp while sitting in the parking lot deciding wether or not I should go in. DO NOT. I grew up going to Chinese buffets and this is by far the worst one I have ever been to. All the food was room temp and greasy. I told the manager how bad the food was and he comped my food and asked if it was the temperature before I even told him which tells me that they have gotten this complaint before! Wow! Let me start off by saying I called in a order to pick up. I'm staying in Conroe for work and thought it would just be easier to come pick something up and bring it back to my hotel. I am super impressed! The order took less than 10 minutes to be ready AND it only cost me $10 and some change! The portions for what I paid for are outrageous! I ordered an order of steamed dumplings and one order of vegetable lo mein. I received 10 dumplings and roughly a pint of veggie lo mein. I was stoked! This meal could have easier fed three people, maybe four if one of those people chose to eat more lo mein over dumplings. If I don't have left overs tomorrow night, I will definitely be calling them up again to order another take out meal. I wouldn't even try anywhere else! The dumplings are wonderful, the veggie lo mein was delicious! Not too oily. And they gave me a little side of dumpling sauce. Way to go China Buffet! The service was good. The place was clean but the food was unhealthy with ample amounts of MSG. The sushi was chewy from sitting around for hours and where are the tops to keep the soup warm? People's misguiding reviews and rating is more telling of the people versus the restaurant. You're willing to eat mediocre trash as long as it is flavored well. Silly me to believe twits from Conroe would actually know good food from a dead rat in sweet n sour sauce. Puh. And the fruits, veggies and desserts were laughable. No thanks. Took the in-laws here for a big lunch. I would frequent here in High School! Me and some friends would go here after classes as a hangout and I love the food. The food is very diverse, its not truly authentic but it caters to our pallete and tastes. I especially am fond of the sushi bar and the pastry section. The servers are distant but very polite maybe its the language barrier. Overall this place is worth the money and its much better than the competitors in town. I would return again!!! read more
