Prior to changing to a vegan diet, I'd visited this restaurant once or twice. Good compared to most Chinese restaurants but not a place I was anxious to make a regular stop (but that's me; I never crave Chinese). But now I eat in or get carry out at least once a month because they have an extensive vegetarian menu that's quite good. Nothing on the menu includes any animal-based products and there's a lot to choose from. Alas, I haven't had many of the options because the first thing I tried - tofu with black bean sauce - is so good I keep getting it visit after visit. So I went back down to Dayton and visited my favorite restaurant. Still the best! They had their Chinese New Year special for the Year of the Horse; Roasted Duck and Flounder. I went back three days later for their Hot and Sour Soup and some Stir Fry Beef. I feel like such a pig... I fell in love with this Argentinian Cabernet they have and so I decided to take a bottle home with me to Columbus because I couldn't find it in other stores around the area. I will be back - kind of sad they didn't have lobster this year. I heard about it last year but I couldn't make it, really hoped they'd have it this year. Oh well, I still enjoyed it! The orange chicken, pork fried rice and chicken chow mien were excellent. The orange chicken was white meat (which is not common for other Chinese in the area). The service was friendly, the place was nicely decorated and clean. But the prices were rather high, with dishes averaging about $16.95. You get a lot of food for it, and the presentation is fine. But...I had the special tonight - grilled chicken with some vegetables...and it was just okay. It came with fried rice and a cup of soup (I had egg drop). So average taste, expensive price = 3 stars. That's too bad, because although located in a strip mall, it was a nice looking restaurant. I would have given it a 4 if the prices were in the $12 range or if the food was worth $17. read more

This place is amazing! Every time I come the food is fantastic and the service is fast. The sauces all taste different (unlike some Chinese restaurants) and the fried chicken dishes have large chunks of chicken and aren't all breading like other places. Certainly better than typical take-out Chinese. The restaurant itself is inviting, with a small, fully stocked bar, and bright, clean interior. The wife and I really enjoyed the egg and spring rolls, the Walnut Chicken, and the Thai Orange Roughy. The Thai Orange Roughy was a special: lightly breaded, with fresh sweet and sour sauce, steamed vegetables, and rice. Writing about it make me want to go back and have it for dinner tonight. Overpriced for less than mediocre food. What was supposed to be a twenty minute wait for carry out was almost forty minutes. I asked for no avocado, it was on the receipt, it was confirmed at check out, and there was still avocado hidden under the sauce which wouldn't be a problem if I weren't for the fact that I'm allergic to them which is why it was asked to take out in the first place. read more

This was our first time trying China dynasty in centerville and unfortunately it was horrible. There were a few issues but the top 3 were sour chicken in the chicken egg roll, General Tso Chicken was completely rubbery with very little sauce, and only one rice to share between two entrees. So we couldn't really eat at least two things we ordered but when we called we got the worst customer service we've ever experienced. They denied anything could be their fault. They only do everything right. It must be door dashes fault. And then they hung up on us!!! They had zero interest in even just smoothing this over or trying to keep a customer. We can understand things aren't perfect all the time but there is no excuse for their incredibly rude behavior. Ridiculous. Stay clear of this place!! read more

The main complaint was the packaging. The Thai dish I chose was very juicy and was put in a flat container. Lost a lot of juice on the way home. Also the containers were way too large for the serving size. They really need to package correctly. Other competing restaurants do it bette. read more

My usual stop for Asian food is Royal Wok in Springboro. They have closed during this virus crisis so I went looking for a substitute location. I read reviews of China Dynasty and though mixed, decided to check them out. I ordered General Tso's Chicken. The broccoli was bright green and nicely done. Usually I find it more of a pale green/grey, overcooked mush. This dish presented the broccoli perfectly. The sauce used was prepared a bit differently than what I usually expect. Less sweet and a darker color. I was prepared to not like it but after the first bite I knew I would enjoy. I won't say the dish was the best I've had, I'll still use my standby once they reopen but, I would not be ashamed to recommend this eatery to anyone. BTW the service was easy as they only had carryout anyway. The lady that helped me was pleasant and very professional. The restaurant, at least what I could see from my vantage, was neat and clean. Not to take away from these glowing reviews, this restaurant leaves alot to be desired--especially when they do Carry Out. The Chinese food is horrible. The King Do Pork Loin--a fried patty with a gloppy "King Do" sauce was atrocious. We had to throw it away. Before coming here, I didn't think anyone could screw up Hot and Sour Soup--China Dynasty made the impossible, possible. Threw that away also. Sushi was OK, it looks like the guy knew what he was doing and the pot stickers were pretty good as well. Overall, I don't know if we caught them on the chef's day off, but China Dynasty needs to concentrate on bettering their Chinese selections. Hopefully, the Thai selections fare better. IMO, despite of their claims, it is definitely not the best restaurant in Dayton. If you're into fancy ambience, service, wine, and sushi, and overpriced food, then this is your place. Ordered house lo mein. The only recognizable meat was the shrimp. All the other meat what little there was, was fatty and gross. It was full of cabbage and noodles and was 14! This place has really gotten dirty too. I feel sorry for the fish in their tank having to suffer there. My last time here that's for sure. First WOW. A Chinese restaurant that serves something other that the underflavored crap you usually get. This place has Thai, a touch of Korean and Japanese too. I ordered the Thai Seafood Trio, the wife the Rock Salt Shrimp, and we had the potstickers and an order of the Tempura Oysters. Start with the last...the tempura was not tempura...it was a much thicker breading, but that aside they were good. The potstickers were EXCELLENT. The Rock Salt Shrimp were large, fresh and plentiful. They had a nice green chili with it, little bit of spice. The Thai Seafood Trio was mussels, calamari, shrimp and scallops (yeah that makes 4). Great flavor, not spicy at all as I actually asked for some chili oil. Service was quick, prices were on the higher end, but you get a decent amount of food. Great Food, but the owner and his wife talk to you and your food gets cold. We love the food, but dread going there because they talk while you eat. We will not go back. They are nice people but have no sense when it comes to business. They forgot that it is about the customer and not them and how great they are. I wonder if they are bored and lonely and end up driving the people away. There are other great Chinese restaurants - like China North. I will go there instead. China North has great food and great service. That is what I am looking for. I ate at China North last night and it was great great great!!! I wish for Stephen and his wife Sophie to learn from this and learn to respect the customers and give them their space. They have driven my family away. Too friendly and they over do it. read more
