I've been coming here several times, and every visit has been frustrating. The manager consistently overcharges, especially when paying in cash the prices differ from what's charged on credit cards. The best Chinese Fast Food Takeout is a 3-star. That's when you know it's the best. China East was very good when we ordered on Uber Eats. The House Special Chow Mein was great because it contained A LOT of veggies. Crab Rangoons were also very delicious with the duck sauce. However, it needed more filling. Broccoli w/ Garlic Sauce was a great add to the white rice. My friend and I loved this the most. We loved all the veggie containing dishes. Don't be fooled by the good looking pics taken of the food! I was... I expected for it being lunchtime the food would be somewhat fresh but after ordering the Pork Fried Rice and chicken wings, all I tasted was old grease and stale hard rice. This is one of my go to Chinese places when in Mount pleasant. They have limited seating inside, but it's really ideal for takeout. Ordered to go on Christmas Eve and although they were busy, my food was quick and affordable as always. They have great pricing for catering size pans if you have a lot of people. Second outing here and it was a huge improvement. I was very happy with my order. Everything was correctly delivered, hot and fresh. The ribs was so much better than last time. Decent, but not great. I base this rating on the one-time Combination meal, consisting of an egg roll, pork-fried rice and bean curd(a/k/a tofu). The egg roll was crispy, but not greasy. Yet, where was the duck sauce? Missing in action. Also the rice was a bit dry and lacked flavor. The same could be said for the tofu and vegetables. Counter person was nice, but she left me hanging for a few minutes while my credit card was being processed. I' m not so anxious to return here. Food was terrible, utensils were dirty, when I asked for a clean fork, she threw her hands up and grabbed another single fork off a counter. It was dirty also. Best Chinese I have had in mount pleasant to date ! The next on my list is bamboo garden but if I never make it to bamboo garden I will be fine with the 3 min drive across the street to China East any day! This place is quick, not much decor, but it comes hot and delicious! The dumplings are the BOMB! Filled with stuffing, herbs, and they are huge! The egg drop soup is also equally amazing - it contains big drops of egg although the fried little noodle pieces were a bit over fried for me but the soup is good so you don't need it. Finally I got the chicken and broccoli combination with pork fried rice. The fried rice is yellow which I love and it's hard to find these days. The bowl is packed and the chicken and broccoli are super fresh. This place was just the gem I was looking for. read more

The chicken was a bit mushy than fried and was over sauced. The container was filled with sauce. The fired rice looked like cuban rice that you would get with arroz con pollo. Family run, they are very attentive and happy to accommodate special requests. Food is always hot, freshly made, and delicious. We go there especially for the mu shu, which is served with five delicate, freshly made pancakes plus rice. I have placed multiple orders from China East and more times than not the order is wrong. This most recent order I even made comments on their order page to please send me the correct item. I ordered sesame beef, pretty simple request I thought. The last time they sent me orange beef instead. Ok, it was close enough and tasted ok but this time they sent me sesame chicken. I called the restaurant and the woman who answered the phone yells at me saying no it is sesame beef. I have been eating Chinese food for over 40 years and I can clearly tell the difference between chunk white chicken and sliced brown beef. But the woman continues to yell at me and then tells at someone in Chinese who tells back in Chinese and then back to me to say "oh my God, you got beef" I'm sorry but I know what was in front of me and it was clearly not beef. She wanted me to bring it to the restaurant so she could see. Clearly she didn't understand the idea of DELIVERY. I had it delivered for a reason I wasn't about to drive an incorrect order to the restaurant. The woman on the phone just kept yelling, you got beef, you got beef. Frustrated, I finally hung up and ate some of the chicken. It wasn't very good. If I could give zero stars because of poor attitude and incorrect orders I would but I will give 1 star because the food (when correct) is pretty good and the delivery person is very nice. Was looking for some food to be delivered to the hotel I was at and was given a menu to this restaurant. I was a little hesitant when I read the reviews but I was hungry and didn't like the other option of pizza. I ordered the chicken wing special with shrimp fried rice and a side of crab ragoon. Overall I was satisfied with the food. I thought the shrimp fried rice could have been a little more flavorful and had a little more shrimp and veggies, but I've had worse. I love this place!! We've been ordering from here for years and its always been very good. We've tried most things but the sesame chicken, egg foo yong and mixed vegetables are all really good. Their egg rolls are fantastic. I always order at least 2 for myself. I usually go to the store to pick my food up and the woman owner (Ping) is always friendly. She knows my order by heart and always asks how my family is doing. The restaurant could use a little update, but it is clean and I have never been grossed out looking into the kitchen. It's basic linoleum floors and cheap granite looking counters but its always sanitary. I bring every out of town visitor here and have never been disappointed. I've lived in Charleston for most of my life and this is the only Chinese food I order. I recommend it to everyone!! read more

Called in our order, was told it would be about 35 minutes for delivery. It was an hour. Would have been nice if they had called to inform that it was taking longer than quoted. We ordered vegetable lo mein, beef with broccoli and sweet and sour chicken. The vegetable lo mein lacked any real flavor. The sweet and sour chicken was okay, though the sauce was more sweet than sour. Way more sweet. The beef and broccoli was actually very good, but the beef to broccoli ratio was way off. Not cool! Really want to give it a better rating but the delivery times are exceptionally long. The last three times of I have ordered for home delivery, I have had to call to check on my food. The person answering the phone usually gives me a bit of an attitude for questioning where my food is... kind of ironic. I guess I should just add an extra 20-30 minutes to the time they usually give me but I keep hoping it wil come when they say it. I could be less lazy and go to the restaurant but with delivery, I don't have to see where my food is coming from and can imagine something different from the dingy kitchen that I have seen on the one time I did go in. On to the food, it is really good. It is priced well for what you get and very tasty. I have had several things and can speak highly of the egg drop soup, steamed dumplings and many of the combination plates. Me and my father got pepper steaks from them, we had been regulars for quite awhile. I had eaten at least a quarter of my large portion when I found a German cochroach that had been cooked along with the food. My family is not typically the kind to call back on delivery orders but we were appalled. My father nor me could eat anything afterward. My mother called and they offered 10$ off our next order (we are never eating there again) or to send out the meal remade. I had them send out a new chicken tenders meal which I haven't touched and likely will not. When the delivery guy arrived we brought my plate to show the driver, he processed to laugh squeeze the grease out of the roach then flick it onto the ground. My mother told him to leave. I work next door to this place, and yesterday when I left, they had a pan of chili peppers outside, on top of a plastic Pepsi carrier close to the ground. They were drying the peppers OUTSIDE near the garbage. There are plenty of flies back there to land on that food. They also hang their aprons outside to dry, in the same area. The ties of the aprons are literally dragging the ground. There are always piles of nasty boxes and pails back there... And general grime.. Rotten food, etc. There is no way this stuff isn't getting contaminated. What I can see everyday when I leave work gives me the impression that they are extremely unsanitary. The food here is amazing. Take the advice of others and order PLENTY of egg rolls. They are so, so , soooo good. The bbq spare ribs were nice and juicy and meaty. The house special lo mein was really heavy on the shrimp and pork (I would've preferred more chicken instead, but I know that a lot of people would think it was a positive to get an abundance of shrimp). The moo goo gai pan was really good. I ordered it with the pork fried rice and that was lovely as well. Also got some plain fried scallops and those were nicely cooked. I like that they give it to you with tartar sauce instead of that sweet and sour dip a lot of other places do. I read negative things about their delivery, so I went to pick up my order in store. The place needs some work and I wish I never saw the inside of it. It's not dirty, it's just shabby. But the food is just to good to pass up because the store front needs some work. Beef with brocolli and hot/sour soup are my favarite combos. Generous amount and fresh ingradients. While most dishes in general used much less oil compared to its similar peers, I usually asked for custom less oil/less salt for healthier meal. Good food always attracts good number of customers, but definitely worth the waiting time. read more
