The woman who took my order was seriously delightful, my food was quick, and the prices are awesome. This was the worst place i have ever orderd from all my sauce was everywhere but in the bag i ordered two pints extra sauce and they put it in the bag no containers so it was all in the bag couldn't even eat the crap!! The food is good. But it's not worth waiting an extra hour over the promised delivery time. I have given this restaurant three chances on delivery and tonight was strike 3. When you order online, it gives you an approximated delivery time that is one hour after the order is accepted. Tonight, the time was supposed to be 6:50pm. I never assumed it would get here at 6:50pm, but I did think it would get here by 7:30. It's now 8:07pm, I just called the restaurant and they're just NOW making my food! There was no offer of a discount or even the removal of the delivery fee! Apparently, the management of this location is under the impression that as long as you GET your food, then the fee is warranted! If it still happens to be warm, all the better! And I TIPPED them in advance! THAT will never happen again! read more

Does great Chinese food stand the test of time, memory, and hunger pangs? I am very happy to report that yes, indeed it does! On a recent trip back to Michigan, I made it a priority to eat at China Express not just once, but twice: and both times, I was more than ecstatic about my food! The General Gau's is still amazing, and the crab rangoons? Well, let's just say that I took full advantage of Michigan's economy and ordered as many as I could. I probably ate about 50 of the things during my stay...no exaggeration! So Muskegon...you have a real gem that I hope you all take advantage of at every possible opportunity. We were just visiting from a different city and decided Chinese sounded great. Boy we were wrong. I have NEVER had any issues anywhere before in a Chinese restaurant. My orange chicken was soooo let's just say mixed up. Some was RAW, and some was BURNT. I even had my husband try it and he said that it was way too squishy. Instantly after eating it I felt sick. My husbands food was no better he said. All and all we spent about $20 and threw everything except the rice away. Which was the only ok part. Unfortunately I did not get pictures of the raw meat, because I threw it away right away but you guys really need to do better. Thanks! read more

The menu posted here is not accurate. I did not factor that into my review because it may not be the fault of the restaurant. I just want the reader(s) to be aware. This was my first time ordering from China Express and, let me tell you, it will be the last. It was, by far, the WORST meal I have ever had from a Chinese restaurant! The egg rolls were so greasy that the oil, literally, pooled in the bottom of the little waxpaper bag they came in; and oil was about all I could taste, too. There were large chunks of cabbage and pork in the egg rolls, both of which were so tough that a metal, serrated dinner knife could barely cut through. I threw them away - YUCK! My entrée was Empress Chicken. It is written in red on the menu, with a little picture of a pepper, indicating that it's hot. NOT EVEN CLOSE! It tasted like sweet & sour. What a disappointment. If I had wanted sweet & sour I would have ordered sweet & sour, for goodness sake. The veggies were soft and a bit slimy...no slight 'snap' when I bit into the carrots, or delicate 'crunch' from the waterchestnuts. One good thing is that they left out the onions, as I requested. But they must've thought the dish needed something else to give it flavor because they added green pepper... and I dislike green pepper more than I dislike onion. Sorry to say, I ended up throwing out the entrée, not just the egg rolls. What a disappointment, not to mention, a waste of money. On a final note, when we drove around the back of the building there was an employee putting out her cigarette before reentering the building. I have no problem with employees smoking on their breaks, but she was the one who greeted us drive-up window and I know, without a doubt, she did NOT have time to wash her hands before handing us our food. This is my go to place because it's literally around the corner but it's just so "mehh" every time I've gotten it recently. Even worse every time I order some sort of chicken it comes with 2 or 3 vegetables at the bottom or none at all. Sesame seed chicken, 3 pieces of broccoli. Sweet and sour chicken none or little to no pineapple. And the color of the rice/noodles along with texture always makes me feel like I got a couple day old batch that was reheated. read more

I placed my order at 6:16pm for delivery, an hour later no food. I called and asked when I should expect it, seeing as I live 2 miles away I thought it'd at least be on the way. WRONG. First I was told that I didn't place my order when I said I did, then I was told it would be another 40 minutes. When I asked why it's taking so long, I was told the delivery driver took a different route, the opposite of my street. Seriously?! I have to wait 2 hours because your delivery driver didn't want to come? You've got to be fucking kidding me. I've been to this restaurant as a dine in customer, and I was happy and served promptly. This delivery driver is a joke and one of the biggest reasons this place has poor reviews. He can take my sweet and sour chicken and shove it straight up his ass. Needless to say, it looks like we're having fast food for dinner tonight because I'm pregnant and starving. Never again. read more

This is really superb chinese food. It was my first choice of Chinese food to try in this area, and may just be my last stop for finding a great Chinese Restaurant. It is right up there with a word-of-mouth joint in Salt Lake City that has always been hands down unbeatable Chinese. The inside certainly doesn't match the performance of their food - it could be revamped, but it also lends a comfortable atmosphere the way it is. The prices are reasonable, the food is delicious, and the menu is impressive. I really would have to be nit-picky to try and come up with any complaints. Definitely a must if you're in the area. read more

This restaurant was nothing special in fact one of the lowest quality Chinese places. Furniture was rickety and torn and dirty. Egg drop was the thick yellow kind people are getting accustomed to, but it's not good like at higher quality Chinese restaurants. Mongolian beef tasted like sterno or something bad. Sesame chicken was as expected but pretty deep fried. Rice seemed low quality, both fried and white rice. If u want cheap food tho, it has a cheap lunch special. Crab Rangoon should have green onion in them to be better. read more

This place is fantastic. It's not much to look at but the food is everything you can ask for from a cheap/quick chinese place. You're not bringing your wife here for a romantic date night. You're ordering this when you forgot to pack a lunch and don't feel like leaving the office. Really affordable lunch menu that we order takeout or delivery from often at work. I moved back here after being gone for a couple years... and so was disappointed that it's just not like it used to be... I moved to Muskegon about a year-and-a-half ago and a friend of mine (who I noticed penned quite a glowing review of his own), highly recommended this place to me. One visit and I was hooked. Easily the best Chinese I've had. I get takeout there a couple times a month, and I've yet to sample a thing on their menu that I haven't liked. The prices are quite reasonable: a quart of my chosen entree, a pint of rice, and an order of six rangoons sets me back around ten bucks. Speaking of the rangoons: you WANT the rangoons. I never place an order without them. Half the time, I can't resist tearing open the bag on the drive home to munch on one or two-- and I only live a few blocks away! The staff is polite, the interior is very clean, and the service is timely. Definitely one of this town's best kept secrets. read more

Food is a hit or miss, sometimes its good other times you order the same thing and it's mushie or over cooked or over fried. I always used to order from here because it's so close, however that may have to change. When I last ordered a delivery it said 1 hour wait but it took 2 and a half hours to arrive then my order was blatantly wrong. I ordered a garlic shrimp, chow mein and three delight soup but what i received was three orders of chow mein..... i thought it was actually kind of funny how supidly wrong the order was even though it was 1 1/2 hours late. But when i called them explaining the mix up and they refuse to fix their screw up and tell me I got what i ordered, I'm wrong or I'm lying then I have a real problem. The food isn't that good to begin with, the delivery time can be absolutely terrible so if you add shitty customer service in there as well I don't see any reason to go back. read more

So the first time I ordered food from this place, it was alright. I eat Chinese everyday. I have stayed in 5 different countries, and I know good food cos I can cook. I have also leaved in 5 different cities in Michigan. Anyways, it was alright the second time too, so I ordered the third time and this time however, it was bad. The food didnt taste spicy as I requested and I believe they spat into my food the next time I ordered cos I complained about the food to the manager (who didn't really care about me, he basically said that day that there was nothing he could do. I had to wait for the delivery guy for another 30-45 minute to bring me spices. My food was cold before he returned) The next time I called to order again, mainly because I'm too busy to cook and hadn't discovered any Chinese food in the area, I heard whispers as I was ordering. I have an accent so I guess they knew who I was, and I guess they knew my number. I always request that my food is spicy with light on the oil, so I guess they kinda figured who I was. The girl who was taking my order was whispering to someone close to her and I was calling with my computer which was connected to my sound system so the whispering was magnified. I didn't feel save ordering because this is something i was going to put into my body, and whispering was just a yellow flag. oh... and I think they spat into my food because it was slimy, I've ordered mongolian beef from that resturant before, and it's doesnt feel like that.
