We drive 40 min just to come here. Everything is made in house from the eggrolls to the sauces. It's absolutely amazing. The service is fast and servers are always pleasant. The general tso chicken is my favorite, but we've also enjoyed the garlic broccoli, lo mein, and other dishes. DEFINITELY go for the crab rangoons and eggrolls. Food is awful! When we get home we were missing an entire dinner. When we drove the 20 minutes back, they said they threw in extra fortune cookies for us! 1 fortune cookie, of which we didn't get any in our first order of 3 dinners + soups. Having been a local resident for over 20 years, I can say I have my "fare" share of China Fare. This was my first time dining in since the Pistons won the finals against the Lakers, and I can say I was extremely pleased with my experience. The food was excellent, but what really stuck out was the service. Not only was our waitress extremely polite and consistent with checking in on us, but at least 3 other workers from the restaurant also stopped by to ask how we were doing and refill our beverages. My previous post about the food at this place was horrible. 2 years later locals told me the restaurant changed owners and the food is better. Well, we ordered Hunan Chicken, Mongolian Beef, Egg Roll, Won Ton Soup, Spring Rolls and Chicken Wings. All of the food except for the spring rolls was horrendously bad. Hunan Chicken and Mongolian Beef were swimming in a liquid broth, with zero flavor of any kind or salt. I had to put each dish into a pan over the stove, add some corn starch to give the sauce some body and added Chinese 5 spice and crushed peppers with other Asian spices to make it palatable. The Won Ton soup, I never seen something this bad and no flavor, the egg roll was crushed and chicken wings were not crispy, thick batter. I cannot believe people think this place has great Chinese food. read more

This place is just OK! Nothing great sauces ,gravies and spice just are bland. We drive down to waterford to Ocean city, its worth the drive. Almond chicken is good but the sauce is see thru and has no wow factor to it. If you are starving its good. But nothing GREAT. Take the drive to waterford. read more

Looooove China Fare. I've been a customer for over 15 years if that says anything. Other Chinese food in this area doesn't hold a candle to China Fare. The food is always fast, hot, cheap, and delicious. Service is always quick and friendly. I've never had an item missing from my takeout orders. The fortune cookies are abundant and they will oftentimes throw in free almond cookies. Some of my favorites off the menu include the steak kow, orange chicken, pad ped, and all of the appetizers. Worst Hot and Sour soup I have ever had. Tasted like straight vinegar and had weird overcooked shrimp in it. I also ordered the lo mein and received what could only be described as instant ramen in bland salt sauce. It gets two stars because the sesame chicken and rice were okay. read more

My family and I have been eating at this restaurant since I was a kid. It has always been AMAZING. Within the last 6 months, every time we've eaten here, it's been just getting worse and worse. This is our last time coming here. The rice was hard and was undone, the almonds for the almond boneless chicken were burnt, the chicken itself - the breading was falling off and gooey/greasy, the egg rolls which used to be my favorite - taste off. Like peanut buttery. The sweet and sour sauce tasted processed and chemically. The recipes have changed or ingredients have been changed to cut cost, most likely. But either way, it's gross. The fortune cookie was also stale. I never thought I'd see the day where I stop getting my Chinese from here. But today is that day. Very disappointed. read more

Awful since it got new owners. Mistake on carry out and the young short girl was incredibly rude on the phone. Hung up on me when I asked to speak to the owner . Called back and after many rings the owner finally answered. The owner claimed what I ordered wasn't on the menu which it absolutely was. I went online to conformed it and found it under side dishes. There was never an offer to make it or give me a credit. Horrendous attitude. I have been going there over 20 years and never had a problem. What made me keep coming back was the kung pao shrimp with 7 plump deveined shrimps (when ordering dinner size). No more. They are now the smaller variety that you don't even have to devein, and only 6. It would be better if they up their price if their cost has gone up (like everything else today) to remain profitable, and still serve the bigger deveined shrimps. read more

This post has nothing to do with COVID as our governor is to blame for that and I sympathize with all the restaurants. That said, the food here was the worst Chinese I have had and it's one of my favorite cuisines. The chicken fried rice was lumpy and was basic plain soy sauce infused rice. The Mongolian need was tasteless. The meat had a boiled consistency to it and was bland. It was however tender. The egg roll had an odd taste and there was more wonton wrap than the content inside. I have them two stars as the service and staff were great, but I came to eat good Chinese food. read more

Awful. I had the house lo mein which was drowned in soy sauce so badly it was inedible. I had to rinse it off before I could eat it. No one makes lo mein with soy sauce much less drowns any dish with soy sauce. read more

Let's start that we have been coming here for years and years and never had any complaints, hence why we have always come back. However this restaurant has gone through different owners as the years and as a result, the food has suffered. Ordered carry out a few nights ago and the chicken was so tuff and chewy we could not even eat it. To be frank, we are not even sure this was chicken by the look of it, rather chicken pieces ground up in order to save money. I would give it zero if possible. We have lived here 30 years and bought a lot of take out from there. This was the new owners second chance and they failed. Almond boneless chicken greasy, fried rice greasy, egg rolls soggy, with more wrapper than filling. I think people are getting the message when I picked up my order on a Friday at 7pm. I was there a few weeks ago and ordered the usual, egg foo young and the gravy was like paste way to gummy and hot and sour soup that I have had many places and this was as good as I had ever had before the old owners sold this last time it was not hot and not sour. This place was very pleasantly surprising! We had the Almond Boneless Chicken as well as crab cheese Rangoon's and pot sticker dumplings. We also ordered drinks they have a heavy pour, but the drinks were very good. I highly recommend the crab cheese! The food came out super hot and our waitress was so great. Overall I don't think we could have asked for more they nailed the appetizers and almond chicken. read more

China Fare is a pretty good restaurant. Their wonton soup with the crunchy noodles are so so good. The egg rolls are really tasty. The people that own the restaurant are so nice and helpful and the lady (who I think is one of the owners) who takes your order and serves you is such a sweetheart. I don't know what it is about their water, but it is pretty darn good. This restaurant is a nice and relaxing environment if you want a calm and/or laid back dinner. The almond chicken here is very fresh meat, very crunchy batter (which I love), chicken is very juicy, and totally white meat. Would recommend! read more

Not sure what's going on here (I heard somewhere new owners) but things just seem to be "off" for some time now. And to be honest, it has now become more frequent. Sometimes it's the small stuff that gets under one's skin, and I understand that things happen every now and then, but this is getting to be a regular thing now. Last week the wife ordered Almond boneless chicken. The sauce was so bland, it tasted like water (she had to ad chicken bullion to it) This week, Her Almond boneless chicken was missing the "almonds" and the scallions, and they also forgot to give us the plum sauce with our eggrolls. The last two times, my chicken pad-Thai was missing the limes and when I asked for mild, I received hot. The portions seem to be getting smaller, or hit and miss at the very least. I hope the owners read this and take this review to heart and do something positive to improve their restaurant as we very much want to enjoy dining at their establishment. read more
