Ordered carry out on a Saturday night. The fried rice had no characteristics of a fried rice. The orange chicken was mushy and nauseously sweet. This is the first Chinese restaurant to mess up crab rangoons. I don't understand the choice of flavor for each item, why were the crab rangoons SO sweet?? We had a few bites of our food and ended up throwing away $42 worth. The wings were the only edible thing--crispy but lacked flavor. I get it, it's a small town with minimal food options, but seriously, this was the worst quality food I've ever had. read more

First time to eat here. Our server was excellent. Very friendly and professional. We ordered the sweet and sour chicken and the beef and broccoli. Both came with rice and soup. Nether of us could finish our order extremely large portions. Excellently prepared hot and fresh. We also order the egg rolls as appetizers. I also totally recommend. This restaurant is every bit as good or better than any others that I've dined at. If in Monte Vista give them a try you won't be disappointed. I had the beef and broccoli with rice, it was okay but it was so much food. Our waitress was good. The water didn't taste that great though. The place looked pretty dirty but the table and chairs were okay. Go here if you want something simple. read more

We swung by on our way to our Airbnb on a whim. Greatly enjoyed the food. Great prices and lots of food. Only complaint was the fiancés order was seeping through the container (we took it to go) which wasn't end of the world. We really loved the fried rice. It was fresh and not as greasy as most places have it. Definitely recommend. read more

I dined in. It was quiet despite 4 or five other groups of customers. Great service, sat quickly. They have a full bar; I chose wine. Diverse menu and the food platters are large. I had a spicy chicken veggie combo. It was delicious. The spring rolls were also good. My waitress was attentive throughout. I drink lots of ice water and it was full all the time. Well, work has me in Monte Vista Colorado for an entire week. I decided to try something different but was staying in since I have to pack. Was in the mood for chinese. Monte Vista is an extremely small town, so this was the only chinese game in town. Although the reviews weren't half bad so I thought I would give it a go. The food was delivered to my room, and it was still extremely hot when I served myself. I wasn't going out at all today, so I ordered beef and broccoli and pepper steak. One for lunch and one to reheat for dinner. Boy, was I extremely surprised. The flavor to bother was just delicious. I am extremely happy with both of my orders. For those staying here at the Best Western, I highly recommend the food from China Graden. read more

This is our go to place for Chinese food for lunch...there will be tasty leftovers to take home because of the large amount of food served...I like the sesame chicken... crunchy on the outside, juicy and tender on the inside... a little spicy and matched perfectly with the sweetness of the sauce...it came with an wonton,egg roll, choice of rice...my wife likes the Shrimp Lo Mein...the sauce was,tasty, shrimp plump and juicy,noodles were cooked to perfection...her meal also came with the wonton, egg roll and choice of rice...the atmosphere and service was great...great food at a great price.. read more

The owners are so friendly and attentive... BUT when you order take out, the food is not always hot and fresh. If you order anything chicken that has breading, is always tough and overcooked. The sauce on the sesame chicken, orange chicken, and the sweet & sour chicken is amazing. Very flavorful and the perfect consistency. As with every locally owned business, the prices have increased at least $3 per entree. They had a dine in dinner special that was awesome and cost about $8.95 for most entrees. Now the minimum is $11.95. So we don't eat out very often now. read more

Because it is the only Asian restaurant in the city of Monte Vista, and because it has that sense of variety that one comes to expect of such restaurants, the China garden is one of my favorite places to eat. China gardens food may be okay, but the service our family has received twice is unnecessary. A few months back(never been back). I went in there ith my family and 2 year old autistic grand baby. The restaurant is full of owners daughters toys all over plain site. My baby started playing with them and the owners wife and daughter were like we stole the toys. I paid and left and will never go back, put your crap away any kid will go touch. Last night my daughter went in and the owner tells her your too skinny, get over your divorce, who is he and that is no one of business. We are not friends to get that personal. read more

The teriyaki chicken was starchy sauce it didn't really taste right but the chicken pieces were good. Rice was decent. The man who brought the food was so friendly and nice though. We've been in town one month and have been to the China Garden how many times??? And, we call ourselves "picky diners". If any dining establishment can fail on our report cards, it's Chinese. But, this team hits it out of the park on every level from their service, quantity, variety (huge menu), QUALITY and, price of everything we've had thus far. I have eaten at this restaurant twice and used their delivery service once. I've been impressed each time. The buffet is very nice - well stocked with freshly prepared, appealing food. The food here was awesome and the staff were very attentive and helpful anytime we wanted anything. However, be wary fellow travelers for the food comes in HUGE servings! We left with NINE to-go boxes! Needless to say we'll be eating Chinese leftovers for snacks, breakfast and perhaps even a light lunch. It's great for sharing; very family style. Of course we came as a family and we usually share family style but we still had NINE (I cannot get over how many it was) boxes! So, small town middle of nowhere....Chinese food always a good pick. Until now. I still taste the cornstarch slurry from the General Tso's and I'm pretty sure the Schezuan beef was not beef or even meat or even anything edible. Mini corn was classic, though. Fried rice had an unplaceable non-fried rice flavor that was what it was. Plus side: open when only Sonic and DQ are the only game in town. Con: Literally tossed nearly $30 worth of inedible food. I've been here twice, once for the buffet and once for a dinner. Both times the food was very good and the staff were friendly and unobtrusive. They didn't hover, but they were prompt when you needed something. The buffet was pretty darn good, but I was disappointed that they didn't have an option for white rice with the buffet. I don't generally like fried rice, but I ate it because there was no other option. The dinner menu does offer plain white rice, so I don't know why the buffet didn't have it when we went. They had American food options with the buffet, which was good for my daughter who enjoyed the mac 'n cheese. Overall, it's pretty standard American Chinese fare. My favorite is the sweet and sour chicken and the hot and sour soup. I kept going back for seconds and thirds of the soup. It's absolutely delicious. read more

We saw this restaurant was open and stopped for early dinner. We dined in and we felt safe with the distance between tables. Restaurant very clean. Food was really good. I had egg foo yong. I've never had a gravy taste so good and the egg part was light as a feather and filled with lovely fresh vegetables. My husband had cashew chicken which he really enjoyed. Bathrooms are pristine.
