We were looking for a happy hour in town and came across Luchas Tacos. Drove up to it and from the outside wasn't sure what the inside would look like. Well, we were pleasantly surprised it had a cool bar, comfy couches and high top tables. The walls had pictures of wrestlers with masks on them. we arrived around 4:45 and about 5 o'clock they started to put on decorative lights and shut off the overhead lights, which gave a nice warm and inviting atmosphere. Our sweet waitress Brynlee was quick to take our order. My husband ordered the margarita which was on happy hour for six dollars and I ordered the Luna Morada which was $10. I would have to say it was one of the best cocktails I've ever had. We also ordered chips and queso, which was not on the menu. The queso was flavorful and had a good consistency. For dinner, I ordered the chicken burrito which was stuff with chicken, rice and beans. It was served with a side of guac, sour cream and a green chili sauce. My husband ordered the taco plate which consisted of three tacos, rice and beans. We both enjoyed our meals. The food, service and atmosphere was amazing. If you are in town, this is a must stop.

Stopped in for dinner on Sunday night after doing a quick search for best green chili in Alamosa and saw this spot mentioned. From the outside, it is pretty unassuming but the interior is fun. It's done in a Mexican wrestling theme with fun decor. There is plenty of space with tables, and a lounge area with couches/chairs. It looks like they have events there as well. We had the birria eggrolls and sausage green chili burrito. We also had the paloma aclarado. The egg rolls were fried perfection and such great bites. The burrito was a good size and was tasty. The sausage in it was ground so it had a bit of a breakfast burrito vibe but still yummy. The sour cream that came with it was frozen. Its such a different place for Alamosa, we'll definitely be back to try more of the menu and the specialty drinks!

What a very surprising hidden gem. All of their drinks sounded amazing. We tried a few and are looking forward to going back to try more. The food was also very good, and the service was excellent. Very much looking forward to going back and trying more things.

We were looking for a place to watch the Gold Cup Final and decided to stop in....am I so glad we did. WOW! The food is fantastic. The Chicken tacos and Birria tacos were awesome. The margaritas are some of the best. Craft cocktails were great. Atmosphere is great and loved the decor. TV's? Yep they have you covered on all the tv's you need. Luchador all the way! I wish we had a place like this back home, in St Louis. I would be there once a week. This is a must and can't miss. Sorry no pics of the food I was too busy devouring it. Get the Birria Taco's

However, the labeling is atrocious and it's often hard to tell what each item is (like, the churros were labeled as tacos). I think they are just always shifting things around, so they must have trouble keeping up with things. I wish they had a bit more variety of vegetables for the buffet that aren't part of a final dish (like in an enchilada). It's mostly just meats there. A few of the things seem a bit suspect, too. The smaller make-your-own tacos have sad looking ground beef and "queso." But I guess that's to be expected at the "American style" taco part of the buffet. I see that some reviews have mentioned there being grilled veggies, but that was not around on the day we were there. I'm not sure if that's a part of the menu you can order from, or if there's just that much variety in what they offer day-to-day. What's not to be missed, though, and it very good, are the fresh tortillas and made-to-order street tacos. Very yummy. I could just eat the tortillas all day. Best of all, everyone there is very friendly, welcoming, and accommodating. If the labeling were a bit better and some more vegetables (beyond salad), I think it would be 5 stars. As is, I'd give it 4.5.

FOOD There was complimentary chips and salsa. It was okay. I started craving a stuffed sopapilla ($17.99) as soon as I saw it on the menu. The pork was so tender and the green sauce I requested was full of flavor. Highly recommend this meal. My daughter asked for the quesadillas ($12.49) from the appetizers. It was strange that in the middle of the triangular goodies with requested ground beef was a huge pool of red sauce. She enjoyed the side of guacomole ($1.99). My SO had the steak Mexicana ($17.99) which he seemed to enjoy. My other daughter had the shrimp Mexicana ($17.99). She gobbled the shrimp. I tried her beans and rice which I didn't have with my own meal. They were pretty good. SERVICE I really enjoyed meeting the owner. He came to our table and helped clean up some water my daughter accidentally spilled. The only thing I wish that had happened that evening was that all of our meals would have been served all at once. They were spread out minutes apart. AMBIANCE The parking lot was in construction as of 5/26/2023. Inside, the place may be small, yet, there were large and small tables and booths. It's a seat yourself type of place. There were vibrant colors everywhere. A white board with their daily specials was on the wall near the kitchen. I wish I had seen it earlier. Finally, no background music, yet, there was a flat screen with some kid-friendly movies playing. MY RATING BREAKDOWN Food: 4 | Service: 4 | Ambiance: 4 | Price: 3

The portion was generous and we took leftovers home for supper! The flavors blended well and had that comforting home cooked flavor. We both loved the green chili and found the beans above average, reminding us of the homemade, all day + simmered, beans off of a wood-fired stove in the alps when we lived in europe. Yes, they were good. The atmosphere was hole in the wall cafe, where all the best food is found. I did enjoy the mural on the wall, the on going local conversation, and the familiarity between staff and customers. In the midst of that, we felt welcome. I forgot to get pictures of the menu. Prices were quite a bit higher than shown previously. However the portions and value were good and we didn't know until leaving that the price included the tip. I'm not sure if that was the case for previous menus. Stop in and enjoy! Glad to give them my recommendation.
