Hands down one of the best Chinese food experiences I've ever had! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warm, welcoming smiles and seated quickly. The crab ragoons were very cheap, and very small for what I paid for. We ordered two plates of chicken fried rice and everything ended up being almost $30. The chicken fried rice had very thin strips of chicken, with thin slices of onion, and that was it. The rice was undercooked, and didn't taste fresh. Typical of strip center, inexpensive Chinese places, but the dine-in area is very clean and pleasant and the food is excellent quality. Hubby and I visited in the middle of a Sunday afternoon. There were only a few other tables occupied which might be why our experience with efficient, quick and courteous service might not be the same as experienced with other reviewers. The restaurant is close to the New Haven I-74 exit, so it's a quick trip (10-15 minutes) for people who live in the Monfort Heights or Cheviot areas and much better than similar restaurants there. read more

I've ordered from China Garden for 5 years now and today I put an order in for delivery which I've always done. Put a generous tip on there as well. When it was not delivered at the time it was supposed to, I took a look at my email confirmation and noticed it was a pickup order. I called and said I wanted to change it to delivery. The lady on the other end was having a hard time understanding my English, but did tell me they didn't have a delivery driver today. So, I said I wanted to cancel my order and she said hold on . I heard arguing between employees on the other end and she said something I couldn't make out and then asked me for my credit card number. I said what? I'm not paying if you're not delivering. She told me to hold on again and then a softer spoken girl got on and said sorry, that was my mom. She has a hard time speaking English. She said how did I want to pay. I said I want to cancel my order because you don't have a delivery driver. She said we are going to find someone once you pay. I said, what does that even mean. You're going to find someone? No, I just want to cancel my order and I realize you already made my food, but I'm sorry. So, cancel my order. She called me a bunch of curse words. I called back, thought it was her, started saying you have some nerve. It must've been the mom because she said hold on and her daughter got back on and I said again, you have some nerve, I'm going to put a bad review online I hope no one ever comes back. You shouldn't treat a customer like that. You changed my delivery to a pick-up. I didn't do that. She swore at me again and hung up. I tried calling back, but this time they didn't pick back up. I called there to tell them what happened to see if I could get a refund or a discount or something and they said, "Bring it in and show us the hair then we'll see." Like don't even do that! RUDE AND DISRESPECTFUL WORKERS!! Me and my boyfriend ordered delivery and got Beef Chow Mein and sweet and sour chicken. Lady on phone never told us total of price or how long wait would be my boyfriend had to ask. Not very welcoming.... once food arrives my boyfriend opened his "Beef Chow Mein" to see it wasn't chow mein at all. The only thing that was in the container was broth, cabbage, and beef strips. NO NOODLES OR CHOW MEIN!! Of course he was mad so he called the restaurant and same lady answered phone as when we placed order. When he told her he must of got the wrong food or order she said "driver on his way". So he explained yeah driver just left and the food he gave me is wrong. I ordered beef chow mein and there no chow mein, no noodles. It's just beef and cabbage in broth. The lady basically argues with him on the phone for 5mins. They went back and forth from my boyfriend explaining there's no noodles in the "chow mein" and she proceeds to get angry and yell at him over the phone saying chow mein doesn't come with noodles...... he asked to speak to manager or boss and she says there's no boss, they all boss.... well after him arguing and clearly it not going anywhere with her he hangs up and drives up there with the food. He gets there and she had attitude and was rude the whole time. Then she says she's from China, he's not, she knows what chow mein is he doesn't.... so they proceeded to keep arguing and yelling back and forth and a male worker comes out and ask what's wrong and my boyfriend tells him there no noodles in the chow mein he wanted chow mein not beef and cabbage in broth. He orders the chow mein every time and it always has noodles. And never looks like whatever they gave him! The male worker and female worker exchanged some words and they started arguing about what part of China is worker is from then proceed to yell in Chinese... then the male worker tells my boyfriends they are out of chow mein/noodles. (The rude lady never once said anything about that! The whole time she went on about how the beef chow mein doesn't come with noodle!) so my boyfriend was extremely mad at this point and said give him his money back and the male worker says he could have whatever he wanted didn't matter what it was even offering him lobster. My boyfriend explained he can't have lobster or shellfish he didn't want it he wanted his money. The male worker said he could have double whatever he wanted and that's when my boyfriend demanded his money and threatened with a Yelp Review. As soon as he said yelp the male worker gave him his money immediately and begged him not to leave a review. Clearly this crap happens all the time and they have so many bad service situations that leaves people mad.... this place is a total joke!! That lady needs fired! Beyond rude, yells and argues with customers, doesn't explain anything or inform customers of food being out. She needs to go.... terrible terrible place. read more

Average OK food. They simply do a lousy job of ordering anything over the phone. They have a very poor command of the english language. When I order they just do not understand me nor can I understand them. I swear, I am not racist or prejudicial. I am just tired of getting my order wrong. I must have ordered from them at least 15 times and half of that is an order gone wrong. I can't always go running back to them to get it fixed. Nice people, courteous.
