First time and I can't say I was impressed. A friend of mine sent us here and now I'm not sure why. Food was just so so. My hot and sour soup was nothing special. My egg roll was tough and my shrimp with black bean sauce had no flair. My kids had the steak meal-- and one of them had to send them back! The steak was tough as nails... so my daughter ordered the fantail shrimp (very oily). To make matters worse, the woman next to us got a phone call during the meal and was talking SO LOUDLY! Did I say loud?? She had just received a call from someone saying someone she knew committed suicide! And that they stabbed themselves to death!! After 10 minutes of listening to this, I was about to go over and ask her politely not to keep on since I had my two kids with me. I was exhausted after listening to her! Had a truly wonderful meal here tonight. Their hot and sour soup is the best I've ever had, the perfect balance of flavors. I normally don't eat eggrolls, but it was so delicious and not greasy at all. I had the prime rib with mixed vegetables. Not only was the meat tender and flavorful, but the vegetables were firm, crunchy and not loaded with sauce. I also like that they serve very decent white wine. Ok, let's face facts. Chinese food in South Florida, for a New Yorker or New Jerseyan is nothing to write home or write to Yelp about. A quick stroll through the reviews of most all Chinese places in the area show maybe 3 stars or less. Last nights venture into the takeout abyss resulted in lukewarm but tasty wonton soup with overcooked and mushy wontons, room temperature dumplings with a much too high ratio of dough to filling and a 3.5 star pork chow fun. Maybe the pork is cooked with customers in mind with dentures but it was way too soft; as if it were cooked hours ago and left to stew in a broth before adding to the dish. I'm sitting here looking at these reviews and thinking WTF are these people talking about. My wife just ordered here by accident and when I went to pick up the food I realised it was the wrong restaurant. We decided to pick the food up because it would be wrong not to once ordered. Yeah, that was a mistake, my order number was #50. I'm putting that there so if the owner sees this they will know who this is. We ordered the chicken wings, they were brown on the outside and raw on the inside. I swear to you pink fleshy meat and blood red at the bones and joints, disgusting. The whole Peking duck was ordered, dry but I ate some because I was starving. The removed the breast and probably used it for another dish. The left all of the bones with the order to make it look like more, not a good practice. Soup was ok and my daughter said the Lo Main was good. We also ordered the spareribs. They boil them and then dip them in a sweet duck sauce like glaze. I guess they try to broil them to hide all of this but not really good, we ordered 9 ate 1, rest are in the garbage. This place is reasonably priced so I'm assuming that may be the draw to some people looking for a bargain. PLEASE DON'T EAT HERE !!! This is my favorite local Chinese delivery and take out place. Normally, it's a solid 4 star rating from me but not tonight. I ordered the Filet Mignon medium rare for delivery. The filet mignon was cooked well done, and I simply don't enjoy steak cooked that way. The $31 dish was very disappointing. Although the waiter was busy, he asked what type of soup we wanted & brought it to us right away so we could enjoy it while we waited for him to return and take our full order. My meal was as good as usual. Lots of chicken with a variety of veggies and a tasty sauce. Many of the Chinese restaurants don't offer Cantonese dishes, so it's a plus when we find one that does. The wanton soup was good -- not too salty and full of large wantons. The egg roll was tasty and not greasy, even though I put too much hot mustard on it. I don't have a sinus problem anymore. Like most Chinese restaurants, the menu is extensive, and they offer a combo meal (soup, egg roll/chicken wings/or egg foo young, entrée, side of rice, and ice cream/sorbet. The early bird runs until 10:00 pm (Really!) I suggest you make reservations as it is a senior citizen hang out and can get very busy. Good value for the money. We will be back. read more

We have ordered from China Gardens several times and have been delighted in what we ordered. Tonite we ordered Szechuan Chicken and there was no flavor to the watered down sauce, the fried dumplings must have sat around for hours and the egg roll wasn't cooked. So we called to verbalize our experience only to be called a LIAR. Do not order from here. It was awful. If they can't correct what's wrong or admit ... hey tonite was a bad night...then they do not deserve anyone's business. As repeat customers we are appalled. Awful food and awful owners of this establishment. They're are plenty of other Chinese restaurants in Delray that deserve the business. China Garden does not. read more
